When Wolferl (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart ) was young, he showed great musical talent. Luckily, his father Leopold, a very good musician, saw it and nurtured his talent.
When Wolferl was just three years old, Leopold was teaching Wolferl's sister Nannerl to play the piano. Wolferl would hang around them and listen to what they were playing. Later, he would come back to the piano and try to play what he had heard. Soon he could do it. By the time Wolferl was four years old, Leopold started to give him his own piano lessons. Little Wolferl could learn a minuet ( 小 步 舞 曲) by heart during a half-hour lesson! And at the end of his lessons his father would have to send him away, for it seemed Wolferl wanted to continue all day.
Leopold was a fine violinist. He had given Wolferl a small violin, but not given Wolferl any lessons on it. One day two of Leopold's good friends came to visit. One of them had written six new violin trios (三重奏), and wanted Leopold to join them to play the new music.
Wolferl got out his violin and asked his father if he could play second fiddle ( 第 二 小 提 琴). Leopold refused him because Wolferl had never learned how to play the violin. He was not happy. Then one of Leopold's friends said,“Let the boy play second fiddle along with me.”And Wolferl did play — so well that Leopold had tears in his eyes!

Su Yijun, a post-95s man, spent about three years building a virtual (虚拟的) Forbidden City in a video game.
He wanted to build a Forbidden City with toy bricks ( 积 木) after his first visit to Beijing early in 2002, but it was impossible at that time.
However, his dream came true. He and his team of net users spent about three years building a complete model of the Forbidden City in a popular video game that lets you build things out of virtual bricks. It includes interior decorations (内部装饰物) of the main buildings. Su said that their team members often changed, and they just did it for the fun of it.
“In order to reproduce the Forbidden City, we had to read many books and make changes over and over again,”said Su.“The most difficult part of the project was building parts of the Forbidden City that are not open to the public. Many areas are not open to the public, so some of the interior decorations we built are not so exact.”
The virtual project was started in 2013 by some volunteers, but when Su joined the team in 2014, they decided to start again from scratch (从头开始). Su finally became the project’s main leader. He took time to research traditional Chinese buildings to make sure the team could do a great job.
In November 2017, Su and his team were invited by the Palace Museum in Beijing for a digital art exhibition. He and his team printed the virtual Forbidden City into a physical model using 3-D technology.
His team plans to build a“mini Beijing”with city walls in the game, Su noted.

D. There was not enough time.
( )57. What happened to Su and his team in November 2017?

In the eyes of many foreigners, Chinese are the best hosts (主人) and the worst guests in the world. They're not really bad guests, but because the guest-host relationship in China is much different than that in some Western countries, it appears they are not nice guests. And western hosts sometimes look rude (粗鲁的) in the eyes of Chinese guests.
In China, guests are almost like gods. Whenever I enter a Chinese person's home, there is always fruit on the table for me, and someone is quick to bring me a cup of tea or water. In the West, generally the guest is not a god. Acting according to the host's way of doing things is usual behavior for a guest.
My wife's mother, a very kind elderly Chinese lady, doesn't smoke. When I see some of her guests smoking in her house, as a non-smoker, I feel unhappy. Usually I want to stop them directly, but I must realize that in China, to be a good host, she must not do that. In most North American homes, if you are a guest, and the hosts arc not smokers, you should not smoke in their house. At the very least, you could ask,“Is it OK if I smoke?”But, don't be surprised if they say,“No, you can't smoke.”In our culture, if you smoke in their home, you are a bad guest, but if they do not allow you to smoke in their house, they are not a rude host.
Guests in China also have special habits. Some western people may not adapt to these habits very soon. Thankfully my wife is Chinese, so whenever we visit a Chinese family, she tells me to buy them a gift. However, giving a gift to a host is not always necessary in my country. So, if you invite international guests to your house, don't be too surprised if they don't bring you a gift.
In China, you probably won't need to change the guest-host relationship very much because you will probably only be the host, and Chinese are naturally very good hosts. If western hosts invite you to their house, try not to be too surprised if their style of treating you is not what you have expected.
( )58. Many foreigners think that Chinese hosts are the ______ in the world.
A. best B. worst C. most natural D. most different
( )59. When a western guest visits a Chinese family, he often ______.
A. buys some fruit B. feels like a god
C. wants some gifts D. takes a cup of tea
( )60. If the writer's guests want to smoke in his house, what will he probably say?
A. It's OK if you smoke here.
B. Let's smoke together.
C. Sorry, you can't smoke here.
D. Smoking is a bad habit.
( )61. What is the main idea of this passage?
A. Foreigners should learn from Chinese.
B. Hosts must do things in the guests' way.
C. Western hosts arc always nice to guests.
D. People should understand cultural differences.

“Without music, life would be a mistake,”famous German philosopher (哲学家) Friedrich Nietzsche said over a century ago. Music is a big part of our lives. But in recent years, some US schools have cut music classes to control budgets (预算).
For example, Chicago public schools hurt arts education when it fired ( 解 雇) over 1,000 teachers. Among them, 10 per cent of the teachers taught art or music, according to The Washington Times. In fact, this is not just a problem in the US. In other countries, such as China and the UK, music classes are not thought to be as important as ones like science, maths and history. That’s partly because music is not seen as a very important life skill, and it isn’t tested. Many students are busy with schoolwork, because parents and students choose to focus on subjects that are tested more often. However, learning music is beneficial (有益的) in many ways.
When playing music, you need different abilities to work together. It is not as simple as it looks, according to Kenneth Guilmartin of Music Together, an early childhood music development program. For example, when playing the piano, people see music notes and decode (解码) them in their brains. They also use their fingers to make sounds. You need to deal with all these things at the same time.
Music has a special connection with science as well. You can see that many scientists are good at playing music: Einstein played the violin, and German physicist Max Planck was talented in playing the piano.
( )62. Some schools in the US cut music classes because ______.
A. students in the US weren’t interested in music
B. they were too difficult to learn
C. there weren’t enough music teachers in the US
D. the schools wanted to control budgets
( )63. The underlined word“them”in Paragraph 2 refers to“______”.
A. public schools
B. fired teachers
C. parents in Chicago
D. students in Chicago
( )64. What’s the main idea of Paragraph 4?
A. Different abilities are needed to work together while we are playing music.
B. Playing the piano needs people to use fingers to make sounds.
C. Decoding music notes is needed while we are playing music.
D. Playing the piano needs people to see music notes.
( )65. What’s the writer’s opinion about music?
A. Music is as simple as it looks.
B. Music classes should be cut in some schools.
C. Music is a big part of our lives.
D. Music isn’t a very important life skill for us.
