Museo del Prado, Madrid, Spain Founded in 1819, the Museo del Prado is the most significant museum in Spain. Located in Madid, visitors can enjoy an amazing collection of Spanish art, including paintings and sculptures (雕像) dating back to the 12th century. This museum proudly holds pieces from the Spanish royal family, as well as world-famous works. B When everyone’s so busy it can be hard to keep in touch with the people who matter. Leela Morris’s solution was to set up a book club to regularly get all of her favourite people in one place. “I had a series of conversations with people who said things like: ‘I enjoy reading, and I don’ t want to party as much any more,” says 34-year-old Leela Morris, recalling how the book club she founded seven years ago came into being. Her friend and fellow book club member Eva Roberts, 35, laughs in agreement: “I remember texting you on my way back from a party, thinking: ‘I’ m too old for this, I need something a bit more healthy!” And they weren’t alone. Soon Morris had gathered a group of five other regular members including her mum Linda. “Then there’ s Paige, who I used to work with, and Astrid, who I lived with in Paris,” Roberts adds, going on to mention “horse-crazy” Abi, and Louisa, who’s originally from Brazil, and who was looking for a few more friends in London. As she continues, it’s clear to see the appreciation for the friendships strengthened through the club, as well as the conversations shared and the memories made. In short, Roberts says, they all just “click”. The friends insist there have never been any heated arguments over the books’ themes or topics — instead, they say, it has really helped “open up conversations” among the group. “Because there are no rules — apart from whoever chooses the book, hosts the gathering event — there are no limits to what is chosen. In some book clubs it’s only fiction, but here there are no limits and you read things you wouldn’t normally read,” says Morris. “The different viewpoints have really opened my eyes to lots of books and subjects.” 4. According to the passage, what did Morris and Roberts both consider in their 30s? A. Making more friends. B. Reading more novels. C. Attending fewer parties. D. Focusing more on health. 5. Who was a roommate of Roberts? A. Abi. B. Louisa. C. Paige. D. Astrid. 6. In para 4, what does Roberts probably mean by saying they “click”? A. They are always on time. B. They do similar jobs. C. They get on well with each other. D. They have various personalities. 7. What’s the rule of Morris’s book club? A. Fiction cannot be chosen. B. Who picks the book is the host. C. Arguments are not allowed. D. The events are hosted by turns. C Surfing was once banned in Hawaii. Today, you can shape a surfboard like Hawaiian royalty. The art of playing in harmony with the ocean is something Native Hawaiians have done for centuries. It’s called surfing nowadays, but the ancient Hawaiians said wave sliding. It was another way Native Hawaiians connected with the ocean, a place of cultural and spiritual significance, as well as what many depended on for their livelihoods (生计). From fishing to canoeing, the ocean was the center of ancient Hawaiian culture. It’s an addicting, excited feeling to slide along a wave. It’s no wonder that the sport has exploded in popularity, with some surf breaks in Australia reportedly seeing more than double the amount of people in the water. Over the past decade, the number of surfers in the US has risen by 35%. It’s easy to pop into any surf shop and browse the many board options. Some Native Hawaiian surfers are showing respect to their ancestors by showing people how surfing is more than a sport; it’s a way of life in Hawaiian culture. Perkins is one of the local people. Perkins’ life has always revolved around surfing. Growing up near Waikiki Beach, he started surfing professionally at age 18, going on to win two world titles for long boarding in 1996 and 2008. Shaping boards for over 40 years, Perkins offers guests at the Four Seasons Hualalai on Hawaii Island the chance to shape their own wooden surfboard called an Alaia, the same kind that Hawaiian kings and queens rode hundreds of years ago. Then, they have the chance to ride the board they created in the water. “Over the years, surfing has lost its original sense gradually, so I want to bring understanding the grassroots way, and what other way than to shape and surf your own board?” Perkins said, and through this experience, “people can really appreciate, connect and look at surfing in a different way.” 8. What’s the relationship between ocean and ancient Hawaiians? A. It was their survival necessity. B. It served as hard-to-find resource. C. It used to be badly damaged by them. D. It was only used for surfing activities. 9. What does the author intend to show in paragraph 3? A. The various choices of surfboards. B. The exciting experience of surfing. C. The increasing popularity of surfing. D. The rapid increase of surf shops in Hawaii. 10. What can guests do at the Four Seasons Hualalai? A. Get professional surfing training. B. Learn to build their own Alaia. C. Meet the world surfing champion. D. Ride Hawaiian kings’ surfboards. 11. What does Perkins aim to achieve? A. To set a new fashion. B. To reduce the cost of surfboards. C. To tell people the advantages of surfing. D. To help surfers regain the meaning of surfing. D “I played a live action role-playing (LARP) game to experience the culture of the Miao ethnic group. It was so fun!” said a visitor while visiting Qianhu Miao Village, a tourist site that displays an epic about the development of the Miao ethnic group in Guizhou Province. The LARP game, launched by the tourist site, presents the ancient and traditional Miao legends through modern technologies such as 5G and mixed reality (MR), and enables tourists to see virtual scenery and treasures in the physical world with a pair of MR glasses. According to Luo Longbao head of the marketing department of the company, the village has built a5G platform that offers various types of services. Visitors can search for parking space, scenic spots and recommended routes on the platform. As new information technologies are more and more used in the culture and tourism industry, different 5G intelligent tourism scenarios are appearing in China, such as 5G smart tour guide, 5G virtual reality (虚拟现实) tourism programs, online sightseeing and livestream tourism. These provide richer and newer experiences for visitors. The use of 5G, cloud computing and digital (数码的) twin technologies can strengthen the tourism industry’s ability and better the management of 5G intelligent tourism. Building digital tourist sites not only helps better protect and display cultural relics (遗物) and improve tourist sites’ ability in operation and emergency response, but also further facilitates tourists and improves their satisfaction. Professor Li Xinjian, from Beijing International Studies University, said that the digital ization helps upgrade traditional tourist sites and represents (代表) an unstoppable trend of digital economy contributing to the high-quality development of the tourism industry. And the modernization of tourist sites is necessary. 12 What is the purpose of mentioning the visitor in the first paragraph? A. To lead to the topic. B. To present the author’s view. C. Final cuts (裁员) for the school basketball team were over and I was still around. I had a false sense of safety when I went to practice on Monday. When my teammates and I were doing our stretches (伸展运动) as usual, my coach asked me to one side and then told me the last thing I wanted to hear, “Steve, I’ve been thinking about it. There seemed not much progress in your skills, so I’m afraid we aren’t going to need you any more. You can finish out today’s practice if you want.” The whole team had stopped practice and they were staring at me as if they could see through the seemingly brave boy whose heart was actually broken. “That’s okay. Coach,” I said and walked out of the gym into the locker room (更衣室). Alone in the empty locker room, I stood and stared at my locker. Memories of the past training came flooding. How I wished I had worked harder! Suddenly I realized my bag was still in the gym. I didn’t have the courage to go back, so I walked out to the track and up to the top of the bleachers (露天看台). There was an hour and a half left before practice was over. I sat up there and waited. When five o’clock came, I ran through the back door, took my bag and rushed out, just hoping to avoid any of my former teammates. I’m writing to tell you what will be included in the video. First of all, as a student, taking different classes is my daily routine, so I would like to record a scene focusing on one of my Chinese classes to show my academic life and Chinese culture. In addition, a wide variety of extra-curricular activities are held every day in my school and therefore showing my after-school activities is also in my plan, from which your classmates can learn the diversity of Chinese high school life. If there is anything that needs improving, please don’t hesitate to tell me. Looking forward to your reply. Yours, Li Hua 第二节 (满分25分) 【47题答案】 【答案】Upon arrival, my father, who obviously noticed something unusual, started the talk. “Is everything going on well, boy?” he asked. This simple question, after an hour and a half of sitting up there in the bleachers and thinking about what a loser I was, crushed my last insistence. “I was cut out of my basketball team,” I owned up to my failure, tears streaming down my face. My father gave me an encouraging pat on the shoulder with the words “Never mind” and suggested that if I practiced hard from now on, all my efforts would pay off one day. His words soaking into my heart, the next several months witnessed me sprinkling sweat on the basketball court. The next year the basketball team wanted new players. I mustered up all my courage to sign up for the tryout after one year’s tireless practice. Back to the same gym, I took a deep breath and moved and jumped gracefully. Obviously it was a roaring success. The coach along with my former teammates was surprised to find what great progress I had made. What had been the location of my defeat became my symbol of success and deep down in my heart. I knew it could not have been achieved without my father’s encouragement, my hard work and most importantly my adoption of the “I’ll show you” mindset instead of a “poor me” attitude. 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
