Saturday, 17th March
I've got my dream job in New York! However, it's far away from my home town. Yesterday I took the train here and one of the new workmates met me at the railway station. Then he showed me to the company. There they had a welcome party for me. Great!
My company offered no living place, so I had to find somewhere to live. I stayed in a hotel while I looked for a new home.
Sunday, 1st April
I've found the perfect flat! It's small but very nice. It's near my office, so I can walk to work.
I've soon got used to the life here. I love it! There's a supermarket nearby and some restaurants I can go to when I do not want to cook. My workmates and neighbors are friendly. It's April Fool's Day today and I even played a trick on my neighbor next door. Cool!

The first robot was invented in the 1920s. Robots have appeared in many American films. In some films, they are stronger, faster and cleverer than people.
In real life, robots are mainly used in factories. They do some dangerous and difficult jobs for humans. Robots also help disabled people, for example, blind people. Today many blind people have a guide dog to help them. In the future, guide dogs might be robot dogs.
One kind of robot guide dog has wheels. It moves in front of the owner. It is very clever. It knows the speed of its owner's walk. The owner wears a special belt. The belt sends instructions to the owner from the dog, such as "Stop here" "Turn left" or "Turn right".
In the United States, another kind of robot helps disabled people to take care of themselves in their daily life. The robot hears the sound of its owner's voice. It follows instructions such as. "Turn the page" or "Make a cup of coffee".
Robots are also used in American hospitals. They can do simple jobs. At one hospital, for example, a robot takes meals from the kitchen to patients' rooms. It never gets lost because this robot has a map of the hospital in its computer memory.
Though robots can help people in many different ways, they will never take the place of humans.

Let children learn to judge (判断) their own work. A child doesn't learn to talk by being corrected all the time. If he is corrected too much, he will stop talking. He notices a thousand times a day the differences between the language he uses and the language others use. Little by little, he makes the necessary changes to make his language like other people's.
In the same way, children learn to do all the other things without being taught-to walk, run, climb or ride a bicycle. They compare their performances with those of more skilled people, and slowly make the changes. But in school we never give a child a chance to find out his mistakes and correct them himself. We do it all for him. We thought that he would never notice a mistake unless it was pointed out to him, or correct it unless he was made to. Soon he becomes dependent on the teacher. Let him work out with the help of other children if he wants it.
If it is a matter in math or science, give him the answer book. Let him correct his own papers. Why should we teachers waste time on such daily work? Our job should be to help the children when they tell us that he can't find the way to get the right answer. Let the children learn what all educated persons must learn, how to measure (估量) their own understanding, how to know what they know or do not know.
Let them get on with this job in their ways. Schoolteachers can offer help if they ask for it. Some parents and teachers are worried that the children might fail to learn something that they will need to get in the world. Don't worry! If it is important, they will go out into the world and learn it.

A. teachers can’t correct students’ papers
B. teachers needn't waste time teaching students in class
C. Teachers should leave students in the classroom.
D. teachers should help students improve their learning ability

In 1986, Pan wrote 100 letters to his 100 pen friends who also enjoyed collecting stamps and ancient coins to tell them he had decided to spend ten years studying micro-carving and promised to send each of them a micro-carving work. Then, he practiced every night after work. Through hard work, he only spent five years achieving his dream.
Pan practices much and trains hard. He has set a goal for himself that he will create one amazing work every year. To make sure his hands remain stable(沉稳的), Pan has given up smoking and been living a healthy life. Pan says he loves micro-carving and will never give it up.
