Thanks to the development of computer science, Al has been applied in many fields, such as self-driving, medical practices,smart homes and education. It is changing our life and work in every way, but is Al a good thing or a bad thing? Most people hold a welcoming attitude towards Al. The increasing use of Al does bring some obvious benefits, making our life much more enjoyable and convenient. Take mobile payment as an example. Scanning the Quick Response (QR) code has become a more convenient way of payment, instead of credit card and cash payment; people can unlock their screens of mobile phones with the help of face recognition technology; doctors can perform operations one thousand miles away through 5G technology.Al has also brought great effects on many industries, such as freeing people from heavy labor, and performing dangerous work under certain conditions. On the other hand, there is a fear that Al may lead to many people losing their jobs, as many jobs will be done by machines and human labor is no longer required. Humans may become dependent on machines, losing their thinking ability. Moreover, if Al is not used properly and goes into the wrong hands, it can cause risks, even serious disasters. Al has many pros and cons. Whether it is a good thing or a bad thing depends on how people use it. China Is Changing the World of Science Science, technology and innovation are the core driving forces for the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI) development. For the past six months, Nature has been traveling to countries, from Beijing to Islamabad, Colombo to Nairobi, and seeing how China is changing the world of science. China's universities are providing scientific help to these countries. The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has invested more than 1.8 billion yuan (almost US $268 million) in science and technology projects as part of the BRI. In Sri Lanka, China is co-funding a center on safe drinking water for the country's rural population. In Pakistan,it is co-sponsoring a range of research centers from rice agriculture to artificial intelligence and railway engineering. In the heart of the European Union,a Chinese-Belgian science park provides homes for companies which try to expand trade in medical devices, solar power and other technologies. In total, the scientific side of the BRl involves tens of thousands of researchers and students, and hundreds of universities.
