For most students, it's the first time to learn English poems. So it's not only a lesson for students to learn how to appreciate a poem, but it is also a great chance for students to write their own poems. It also can make Ss enjoy the beauty in the poem and also the beauty in our daily life. In the previous class, Ss have learned the rules at home. It's a good chance for them to learn this poem to reflect on themselves. It will make Ss willing to understand their parents and follow the family rules. In this class,T will introduce a reading strategy for Ss to analyze poems ---- POEM strategy. At first, T will let Ss get some ideas about the poems. Then guide Ss to find out the strategy step by step. T will try to enable Ss to use it to analyze the rest parts of the poem. In the process of analyzing the poem, T will enable Ss to know the target language and sentence patterns. Finally, T will try to make Ss put the POEM strategy into use by writing a poem to their mom. 学情分析 The students are junior students of Grade 9. They have a certain ability of English. Most students can easily express their ideas. What's more,they have a strong ability of imitation. So as an English teacher, we should provide more chances for students to practice English in real life. Students at this age are in their adolescence. They need parents' love,but they also like to be independent, and sometimes can't understand their parents. Fast-reading 1. How many stanzas are there in the poem? 2. I s the writer a teenager now? 3. Divide the article into 3 parts. Ss find out 4 paragraphs. Then they understand paragraph in an article is the stanza in a poem. 2. Ss circle the key words about ages, and then find out the answer---The writer is an adult. To let Ss know what os a stanza.--to get the feature of poems. To let Ss find out how the article is organized. 2. Careful-reading. Stanza1 a. What happened in this part? b:How did the writer feel about mom's love? c: Find out the same sentence patterns or word with similar pronunciation. d:Did mom know best? What did his mum know? 1. Ss fill the mind map. 2. Read the stanza1 and find out what they can feel after reading it. 2. Discuss with the classmates and find out the rhymes and find out the function of rhymes. 1. To make Ss know the scenes in the first stanza. 2. Then Ss can get the picture in their mind after reading it. 3. Ss get the ideas of reading strategy----picture,e motion, rhyme, meaning. 4. Finally, they get the reading strategy---POEM. Stanzas 2&3 : Group work. (Divide Ss into 3 groups) Group 1: Picture &Emotion 1. Fill in the mind-map and find out the emotional changes. 2. What are the changes? Group 2:Rhyme 1. Find out at least 1. Ss fill the mind-map and find out the changes. 2. Ss underline the rhymes and get the target sentence patterns. 3. Ss understand the reason for the conflicts and then get the meaning of this part. 1.
