Module 9 Unit 2 What’s your favourite sport? Teaching aims: 1. Language knowledge objectives By the end of the class, Ss will be able to 1) Read and spell the new words and expressions, such as basketball, football, swimming, table tennis, sport, let us, idea, etc. 2) Read and use new sentence structure to ask and answer each other. - What’s your favourite sport? - Football. - Let’s play football after school. - OK. Good idea. 3) Know rules about how to add -ing form to a verb. 2. Language skill objectives Ss will learn to remember phrases by making classification. 3. Emotional objectives Ss will learn how to invite others to play sports together. Key points: 1. Language and teaching focuses 1) Vocabulary: basketball, football, swimming, table tennis, sport, let, school, idea, etc. 2) Sentence structure: “What’s your favourite sport?” “Football.” “Let’s play football together?” “OK. Good idea.” 2. Anticipated difficulties 1) Use what they have learned to invite others to play sports together. 2) know the rules of adding -ing form to a verb and know when to use -ing form. Teaching procedures: Step 1 Lead in 1. Revision What’s the weather like in ___________? It’s ____________. What’s your favourite season? It’s __________. Why? Because it’s __________ and I can ___________. Step 2 present new words 1. Show some pictures (basketball, football, swimming, table tennis...) 2. Present new words, read together and pay attention to the pronunciation. 3. Practice: Group work Express a word by your body language in group of four. Then ask some Ss to act out in front of the class and let them guess the word. Step 3 present new sentence structure 1. Raise a question: What’s your favourite sport?
