Many schools also offer real-world experiences on and off campus. The following are the top radio-broadcasting schools across the US. University of Central Florida The University of Central Florida’ s Steven Sotloff Memorial Endowed Fund provides journalism students with a scholarship. Students learn to practice radio broadcasting by managing the campus radio station, WNSC-FM. The program features a $14,000,000 communications building equipped with digital technology. The school was ranked16th by U. S. News & World Report for 2019. USC in Los Angeles The USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism has the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in broadcast journalism. This emphasis features courses in radio news writing. Students gain broadcast experience by working at the campus radio station, KCSR. Admission to the school is highly competitive. It was titled for 22nd among national universities by U. S. News & World Report rankings in 2020. California State University, Fullerton California State University’ s Internet radio station, Titan Radio, reaches audiences worldwide. Here, undergraduate students interested in radio broadcasting can do a B. A. in communications with concentration on journalism and tourism communications. Students can also get real-world radio training by working at Titan Radio. The school was ranked 17th among western regional schools by U. S. News & World Report for 2020. New York Film Academy’s Broadcast Journalism School Like all of the New York Film Academy’s programs, the school has its own radio station and the curriculum combines academic learning with practical, hands-on training. NYFA emphasizes a professional mix of skills and instills an appreciation of the ethical concerns that differentiate journalism from other professions. The school was ranked 19th by U. S. News & World Report for 2020. 1. What is the feature of the program in the University of Central Florida? A. Its scholarship for excellent students. B. Its off-campus training opportunities. C. Its offer of the bachelor’s and master’s degrees. D. Its digitally-equipped communications building. 2. What can we know about Titan Radio? A. Its signal goes beyond America. B. Its focus lies in ethical concerns. C. It is entirely managed by students. D. It is graded poorly by the media. 3. What do the four radio-broadcasting schools have in common? A. They all have radio stations on campus. B. Admissions to them are not competitive. C. Job opportunities are all offered to students after graduation. D. They all come in the top twenty by U. S. News & World Report. B Acting is all about charm, respect, honor, and all that fame stuff, right? Wrong. Maybe when you’re a big star you’ll get all of that, but it’s a different story for the rest of us. As a normal and unknown actor, here’s a typical day on a film set. Yesterday my alarm clock went off at 5:20 AM. I had a call time of 7:00 AM and the filming place was far. I gave myself time for a shower and an hour’s drive to the set, plus an extra 10 minutes for safety. The morning traffic was slow as usual but I managed to get there on time. The director and crew (工作人员) were already there, setting up the scene. Then I talked with the director and found out that he’d changed the lines that I had stayed up until 1:00 AM memorizing the night before. We rehearsed (排练) the scene several times, and then they excused me from it while the crew continued setting up the lights. Normally I’d stay and hang out, but I needed to memorize the new lines so I went to my truck. About twenty minutes later a production assistant knocked on my door. We got to act and I stepped up to my position. “Roll Cameral” … “Action!” I started to say my lines… “Cut!“ After a few more takes, it was time to move on. Was there applause (掌声)? Congratulations? Of course not. This is a film, not theater. You might get a “nice job” out of the director, but that’s it. If there’s one thing you should know about film acting, it’s that there’s a lot of waiting: auditions and preparation for acting. So, is it as shiny as you imagined? Probably not. I’ve got used to my ordinary acting day, but it’s still a wonderful experience bonding with the crew. In all walks of life, we usually only give those excellent people cheers and it’s more likely that we will not pay attention to the ordinary person. However, even if they have not become a shining star, they are worthy of applause because they are towards their goal of continuous efforts, and finding the value of their own with their passions as well. 4. What can we say about the author according to Paragraph 2? A. He is tired of his busy life. B. He has an irregular work schedule. C. He can well arrange his time to work. D. He is worn out by the long driving every day. 5. How did the author most probably feel after talking with the director? A. Moved. B. Upset. C. Nervous. D. Excited. 6. What does the author most probably think of his work? A. It is normal but worthy. B. It is tiring but interesting. C. It wins much applause for him. D. It has unexpected events all the time. 7. What would be the best title for the text? A. First steps in becoming a film actor. B. My day working as an unknown film actor. C. An unusual day of an actor. D. My first day as an actor. C Cows love having an open area of grassland to graze on. But in some parts of the world, this is only feasible during the summer. In the winter months, it can become too cold for cows to safely stay outside, so they are kept in a large farm building for warmth. Being stuck inside is not always pleasant for the cattle, and their unhappiness is closely connected to less milk production. For this reason, some cattle owners have fitted their cows with VR headsets that run a program specifically. The program simulates grassland in summer and was designed specifically for the way that cows get color and light. According to the National Library of Medicine, cattle see shades of red the easiest but have a hard time distinguishing between blue and green. Reports from a farm in Moscow, Russia — where the VR headsets were first developed by vets — found in 2019 that the cows that used the VR headsets saw a decrease in anxiety and an improved mood. This led to an increase in milk production, which went from 5.8 gallons to 7 gallons a day. Cattle owner Izzet Kocak from Aksaray, Turkey, heard about this experiment and tried the VR headsets on his cows in December 2021. When Kocak put the headsets on his cows, he found an improvement in the emotional well-being of his animals. “They are watching an area of grassland, and it gives them an emotional boost. They are less stressed,” he said. The technology is now being passed around the world. According to the BBC, the headsets were made specifically for the “structural features of cow heads” by vets, and the animals were shown a “unique summer field simulation program”. The familiar sight of an area of grassland is enough to improve the mood of the entire herd. Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation says that research has shown a link between a cow’s emotional state and its milk production. They stated, “Examples of dairy farms from different countries show that in a calm atmosphere, the quantity of milk increases markedly.” 8. What does the underlined word “feasible” probably mean in Paragraph 1? A. Influential. B. Possible. C. Necessary. D. Meaningful. 9. What’s the result of cows’ wearing the VR headsets? A. They could distinguish between blue and green. B. Their milk production rose accordingly. C Their physical health improved greatly. D. They could adapt to winter easily. 10. What concept is behind the VR headset program? A. High tech is necessary in the dairy field. B. A silent environment helps cows stay healthy. C. Natural grassland is better for the milk quality. D. A cow with good moods can produce more milk. 11. What is the main idea of the passage? A. The emotional difficulties cows face in cold winter months. B The benefits of keeping cows in a large farm building in winter. C. VR headsets improve cows’ emotional well-being and milk production. D. The development of VR technology for animals living on the grassland. D There have been many problems with our schools today, the biggest of which is closely related to our culture. In general, our culture, as represented in the media, gets excited by famous stars, and constantly stresses that it’s what you have, not what you are, that counts. Parents are encouraged to be away from even very small children for most of the day. Too many voters go for politicians who would rather cut school funding than get rid of tax cuts for the wealthy. All contribute greatly to the problems of educating our children. Today’s teachers have to deal with a culture that is vastly different from that in the past. They report that there is, among more children than ever, a lack of motivation, with no drive to succeed or even try. The role models that boys view in the media mostly consist of men in comedies and other shows who are rude and often extremely immature: self-centred overpaid athletes; men in movies, television dramas, video games, etc. who are lost in violence and power. As Leonard Sax wrote in Boys Adrift, “Teenage boys are looking for models of mature adulthood. But we no longer make any collective effort to provide such models.” Girls are attacked not only with such annoying images of males, but also with women who are preoccupied with appearance and are extremely materialistic. In such a cultural environment, it is more important than ever to have responsible, loving and caring parents who have enough time and motivation to devote themselves to their children and see it as their duty to serve as models for them and raise them with high standards of honesty and responsibility along with tending to their physical needs. They need to care enough to see that their children are not attacked with the garbage that comes from movies, television and computer screens. In today’s culture, they are basically alone in this effort since, unfortunately, so much is working against them. Unless we, as a culture, face the truth about ourselves — that we are not providing things adequately for a great many of our children — the storm will continue to rage (肆虐) on our education system. 12. How is Paragraph 1 mainly developed? A. By analyzing causes. B. By showing differences. C. By describing a process. D. By using time order. 13. What does today’s culture probably bring to the children? A. Narrow access to entertainment. B. Poor understanding abilities. C. Few materialistic models. D. Little desire for success. 14. We can we infer from the passage? A. All politicians are against school funding. B. Parents today are less caring than in the past. C. Girls are more easily affected by the media than boys. D. Today’s culture in the media is misleading our children. 15. According to the text, what should parents do in today’s culture? A. Keep their children away from computers. B. Find honest models for their children. C. Devote themselves more to their children. D. Help their children develop motivation. 第二节 (共5小题,每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 As the saying goes, failure is the mother of success. Many of us were told from an early age that, at school or in life, “you learn from your mistakes.” Is this actually true? The short answer is “yes”. ___16___ Because we would not like to fail, learning from our mistakes is, in reality, very hard. It doesn’t feel good. So we react to failure in emotional ways, like giving up on a task easily, telling ourselves we don’t care whether we succeed, or finding fault with the task itself. This is self-protective, according to Hallgeir Sjastad, a psychology professor. In his opinion, most of us want to think of ourselves as capable. ___17___ Fortunately there are strategies to help us overcome the emotional barriers. ___18___. Instead of asking “Why did I fail?”, we could ask “Why did Sam fail?”, for example. Multiple studies show this way helps to soften our negative emotional reactions. Also it allows us to look at failure more objectively. ___19___ This led to better levels of motivation and academic success in the test groups — involving both adults and children — that were asked to give advice based on their own failures. Professor Eskreis-Winkler found that the satisfaction of helping others “forces people to engage with their experience and what they have learned”. The writer Samuel Beckett once said, “fail again, fail better.” But it now seems that we should say, “fail again, fail smarter”. ___20___, but by learning to overcome the emotional barriers around it, we may find the road to success is a little easier to navigate (驾驭). A. Everyone needs success B. Hard work leads to success C. Failure can be a teachable moment D. Failure is an unavoidable part of life E. One of them is to adopt a third-person view F. Next, offer advice to others in the same position as us G. So what failure causes is a serious threat to our self-image 第三部分 语言知识运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节 (共15 小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 In 2018, Molly Baker unluckily lost her husband in a severe skiing accident. Looking back, Baker feels that Vail’s ____30____ was essential to helping her cope with her husband’s death, because she was ____31____ at that time. “A lot of people are really uncomfortable around great ____32____ ,” Baker said. “So what they tend to do is, instead of doing something, that they ____33____ do nothing. But I was. My wife and I never told Lauren that she was disabled. We didn’t want her to feel different from other children. She has Down syndrome (唐氏综合征). What if the other girls on the team failed to accept her? What if Lauren spent most of her time on the bench? What if she got injured during the game? What should I say to the coach? The next afternoon, I parked by the basketball court. “Hey, Johnny,” Coach Forthythe called. “We’re glad Lauren came out for the team.” “Well, Mr. Forthythe, you know we don’t expect you to play her in a game. just include her when you can.” The game arrived the next Sunday. I settled into a seat on the second row with my wife. Moments later, a train of girls chugged out of the locker room. Last in line was Lauren. I stood along with the crowd and clapped. She searched the stands. spotted us and waved broadly. The game got off to a good start, but soon Verden was behind. I gazed at Lauren, the most excited on the team. She slapped (拍打) her knee when the opponents scored. Her arms moved around in the air each time Verden shot. Even though she wasn’t playing, she looked as if she were having the time of her life. Now, I felt admiration for my daughter. Her team was getting beat, yet she still enjoyed the action. Just less than two minutes were left, and Verden was down by 17 points. Coach called a time-out. Then boomed the announcer’s voice, “Number thirty-three, Lauren, in for the Lady Tigers.” 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 With a slap on her back, Coach sent Lauren running onto the court. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ “Did you see?
