课 时 教 案 课题:Welcome to the unit (1) U3B5 第 1 课时 总序第60个教案 课型: New lesson 编写时间:2024年11月18日 执教时间:2024年11月 日 教学目标:1. identify different jobs of medical professionals; 批 注 2. talk about their understanding of medical professionals; 3. describe their experiences with medical professionals. 教学重点: talk about their understanding of medical professionals; 教学难点:describe their experiences with medical professionals. 教学用具:Multi-media 教学方法:Group work, discussion 教学实施过程: 1. Have students talk about the topic of medicine by answering the following two questions. (1) What does the quote from William Osler mean? From my understanding, the quote reminds medical workers to be equipped not only with professional skills, but also with a merciful heart. The primary goal of medical workers should be the interest of the sick rather than financial benefits. Furthermore, they should continue to perfect their skills and handle every case professionally. (2) What happens if a medical practitioner fails to treat patients with a warm heart? A doctor who only seeks benefits for himself or herself rather than seeking the best care for his or her patients is not practising with a warm heart. In such a case, the doctor would not be regarded as a trustworthy professional. 2. Have students study the four pictures and answer the first question on page 29. What jobs are shown in the pictures? Write the letters in the boxes above. Answer: top left: b; bottom left: c; top right: d; bottom right: a 3. Have students list more medical jobs that they know of. Possible answer: an ENT doctor, an eye doctor, a paediatrician an orthopedic, surgeon, a dermatologist, an anesthetist 批 注 4. Have students answer the second question on page 29. Would you like to be a medical professional? Why or why not? Possible answer: Option 1: Yes, I would like to be a medical professional. Medical professionals often have very specialized career fields, such as being a dentist, surgeon or chemist. These fields help people live healthy lives by curing their diseases and even saving them from death. For this reason, I believe that as a medical professional, I could contribute to society in an important way. Option 2: No, I would not want to be a medical professional. Working in that field is very challenging and requires someone who could cope with the constant pressure of worrying about whether they have made the correct decisions. Deciding suitable treatments may not always deliver the results that either the patient or the doctor has hoped for. So, even though I know that being a medical professional is respectable, I don’t think I could handle the pressure. 5. Have students work in pairs and discuss the third question on page 29. Can you describe an experience you had with a medical professional? What was it like? Possible answer: The first time I went to see a dentist, I was very scared. As I sat in the big chair under the bright lights, I was sure the dentist would do something to me that really hurt. When she asked me to open my mouth, I said no! Eventually, she managed to look at my teeth and check them. They weren’t perfect, but I didn’t need to have any work done on them. Phew! 教学反思: 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
