Data from the World Trade Organization showed that global trade in sporting goods has nearly tripled (三倍) in almost 30 years, and China has become the world’s top exporter of sporting goods. For example, in Jinping county of southwest China’s Guizhou Province, a global production centre for badminton shuttlecocks, more than 100,000 shuttlecocks are sold worldwide a day.
In the first three months of this year, the country’s exports of roller skates and skateboards increased by 30.85 percent and 50.21 percent year-on-year, respectively. The inclusion of skateboarding as an Olympic sport has further fueled demand, particularly in countries like Russia and Japan.
To boost the pace of “going global,” Chinese sporting goods companies need to rely on greener sporting goods with higher technological content, said Bao Mingxiao, director of the China Sports Policy Research Institute at Beijing Sport University. For example, Dingqi Sports Goods Co., Ltd. specializes in the production of ball bladders (内胆) , including those used in the production of footballs, volleyballs, basketballs and rugby balls. 70 percent of its products are exported overseas. For the Paris Olympics, the company exported products made from 70 percent bio-based materials.
Wen Jia, deputy general secretary of the China Sporting Goods Federation, said fierce competition in the domestic market makes enterprises and merchants provide customized products and services to meet customers’ demands. Chinese enterprises are not just exporting sporting goods, but also technology, services, and brands.
Yang Lei, general manager of the foreign trade department at Hebei Jadeqi Sports Goods Co Ltd. said “Our overseas strategy aligns with the Belt and Road Initiative. Both aim to offer services and solutions.”
24. Why are so many figures listed in the passage?

26 Which factor is not mentioned in promoting products?
A. Technology. B. Service. C. Salesmen. D. Customization.
27. What do the underlined words “align with” in the last paragraph mean?
A. Consist with. B. Compare with. C. End with. D. Compete with.

Whales (巨头鲸) washed up on a beach in Orkney, Scotland. It was the largest mass stranding (搁浅) of whales in Scotland for decades. Scientists don’t know exactly why whales beach themselves. One theory is that climate change is driving whales’ food closer to the shoreline, where they then get stuck as the tide goes out. If a single animal is found, it is usually because it is sick or has been injured.
In the Orkney stranding, 12 of the whales were still alive when they became beached. When this happens, some organizations assess whether a whale can be safely refloated. Professionals and members of the community often come together, cover the animal in wet sheets and pour buckets of water over it until the animal drifts back out to the ocean, though it’s not always a happy ending.
For those that don’t survive, a post-mortem examination (尸检) is often carried out. Dr Brownlow of the Scottish Marine Animal Stranding Scheme told the BBC that these can reveal a lot about the whale’s life and the reasons why it was beached. In 2024, a very rare species of whale turned up on a beach in New Zealand -a spade-toothed whale. While this is sad, the body was analyzed in order to help researchers acquire new information about the species. “From a scientific and conservation point of view, this is huge”, Gabe Davies, a Department of Conservation official, said.
Some beached whales who don’t survive have their skeletons sent to museums, while many others are returned to the water. This ensures the oceanic environment benefits because whale bodies give off many nutrients. “When they fall and die and sink to the bottom of the ocean, they form these little nutrient-rich islands that can support a huge diversity of life”, says Dr Brownlow.
The more research that can be done, the better. For now, we can only do what we can to keep our oceans clean and safe.
28. What was surprising about the Orkney whale stranding?
A. The types of the beached whales. B. The value of the beached whales.
C. The habitats the beached whales. D. The number of the beached whales.
29. What do we know about the beached whales?
A. Some of them can be rescued.
B. They prefer the food on the beach.
C. Professionals can treat them alone.
D. Climate change causes them to rest on the shore.
30. What happened to the body of a spade-toothed whale?
A. It was covered by wet sheets. B. It was carried to museums nearby.
C. It contributed much to the research. D. It was instantly thrown back into the ocean.
31. Why can whales be good for other ocean life?
A. They both live in harmony. B. Nutrients after their death are valuable.

A Japanese candy company has produced gummy candy (软糖) that tastes like an “imaginary fruit” called Kiraspika.
The gummy candy market continued to expand throughout 2023, with fruit-flavored gummies being the most popular. While there are plenty of fruit flavors to choose from, including fruit combinations, companies are still limited to the fruits available in our world. But what if someone broke down barriers and started making candy that tastes like imaginary fruits? That was the genius idea that Japanese sweets maker Kanro recently came up with. Two months ago, the company launched a new type of gummy candy that tastes like “Kiraspika no Mi”, a made-up fruit with an original flavor, design, and even an origin story.
According to the Kanro official website, the star-shaped Kiraspika only grows in the mountainous region of Blue Knife, where temperatures drop to -50 degrees Celsius in winter. It is very difficult to obtain, as when the fruit ripens, on a full-moon night around the winter solstice, the fruit explodes as a mechanism to spread its seeds. Pieces of the fruit fly at a speed of 300 meters per second, and a direct hit can be fatal.
Everything about Kiraspika was invented in Kanro’s fruit lab where its flavor experts combined various existing flavors to create an entirely original one. According to its designers, the Kiraspika-flavored gummy candy has a mysterious sweetness combined with a sliced sourness, but many tasters have their own description. To some, the Kiraspika flavor can be compared to that of an energy drink, others say it tastes a bit like a spicy apple, while some compare its sweetness to that of cherry gummies, combined with a tongue-numbing spiciness. It is the mystery of the flavor and the personal interpretations that make Kanro’s product so popular. Having been launched in September in the 7-Eleven convenience store chain, Kiraspika gummies have been selling out, and the Japanese company is already working on new creations in its Fantasy Fruit Lab.
32. Which can describe the special gummy candy?
A. It had no flavor at all.
B. It only appeared in the story.
C. It had a combined flavor of fruit.
D. It tasted like nothing you’ve ever eaten.
33. Why did Kanro post on the official website?
A. To sell products online. B. To impress consumers.
C. To retell a story. D. To introduce a fruit.
34. What will the Japanese company do next?
A. Imagine a story. B. Market its new product.
C. Expand its business. D. Explore more fruits.
35. Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A. A Japanese gummy candy tastes like a fruit that doesn’t exist.
B. Japanese gummy candies are mainly made from various fruits.
C. A Japanese company achieves big success in gummy candies.
D. A Japanese company constantly comes up with novel ideas.

In his little American household, which housed several people from his family, Jase was writing letters to Santa weeks before Christmas…
“Dear Santa,
It’s me, Jase! Daddy bought me a special costume, but it didn’t feel special. How about you give me something different this year? Then I can be a true hero and save lives. I can be a firefighter, you know! Please grant my wish!”
After writing the letter, Jase tucked it under his pillow and dozed off. A few days later, when he ran down the stairs, he saw a giant Christmas tree in the living room and a pile of parcels underneath it. “This is for Mom… This one is for Dad… Where’s mine?” “Yay! Gotcha!” he exclaimed as he began unwrapping it. As Jase saw it was a firetruck, he couldn’t contain his excitement. Jase had learned at school that firefighters were true heroes who saved people from danger. So the little boy wished to be a firefighter, and all his favorite toys were also related to firefighters!
Jase’s family had his twin sisters, Milly and Rosie, his dad, Peter, and his mom, Lydia. They were happy in their cozy tiny home, and every celebration in their household was a sweet affair. Jase was so happy with his Christmas present that year that he spent the whole day driving his toy truck. He also gave his little sisters a ride in it, and they loved it.
After dinner that night, when everyone was asleep, Jase was up and decided to drive the truck around the house. He had enjoyed it so much that he hadn’t left his truck for even an hour that day! When he couldn’t sleep, he decided to take his truck down to the living room and play with it. Suddenly, Jase felt something strange — a mixture of smoke, heat, and light — and stopped. When he turned around, he saw smoke from the Christmas tree, its bottom in flames. Jase’s parents had forgotten to put out some candles, which had caught the tree’s back and the living room curtains on fire.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右;
2. 请在答题卡的相应位置作答。
The fire was spreading fast, and Jase shook with fear.

【答案】18. A 19. B 20. C
【解析】
【原文】W: Robert Kurtz is a commercial solutions manager at Rust Belt Riders. The company is based in Cleveland, Ohio. Its goal is to fight climate change by recycling as much food waste as possible. Wasted food winds up in landfills. As it breaks down, it creates a harmful gas that fuels climate change. The United States Environmental Protection Agency says the average family in the U.S. spends $1, 500 per year on food that doesn’t get eaten. Businesses waste food too. That’s where Kurtz’s job comes in. Every day, Kurtz contacts grocery stores, restaurants, and other food service businesses. He educates them about the harmful effects of food waste. Then he asks if they’re willing to change the way they handle their extra food. So far, Rust Belt Riders has persuaded 300 companies and 2, 800 households to do something different with their food waste. The company’s 7 trucks and 30 employees pick up their clients’ extra food. Then they turn it into soil. The soil is made up of five ingredients that combine to help plants live well. That’s why Kurtz and his colleagues at Rust Belt Riders offer a second service: They sell the nutrient-rich soil to people and businesses that need it.

C. The island they hide on are full of food. D. Other sea living things feed on their bodies.

According to its designers the Kiraspika-flavored gummy candy has a mysterious sweetness combined with a sliced sourness, but many tasters have their own description.
【答案】32. D 33. B 34. B 35. A

【57题详解】
考查介词。句意:根据林地信托基金会的说法,这种早唱被称为黎明合唱,它可以早在凌晨4点开始,持续几个小时。此处为固定短语be known as“被称为……”所以此处为介词as的填入。故填as。
【58题详解】
考查动词不定式。句意:鸟类这样做是为了吸引配偶,并警告其他鸟类避开它们的区域。此处为动词不定式to do表示“为了……”作目的状语,满足句意要求。故填to attract。

One of the firefighters patted Jase’s shoulder and said, “Good job!”
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】One possible version:
The fire was spreading fast, and Jase shook with fear. “Mom! Dad!” he shouted as he rushed upstairs to wake up his twin sisters. Milly sat up, blinking sleepily and ran downstairs with him, but Rosie was asleep, so he carried her in his arms, put his sisters in the truck and then hared off to his parents’ room, screaming at them. The couple was startled awake and called 911. Soon, the firefighters arrived and sprang into action. The fire was extinguished at length. While fighters performed their duties desperately, Jase could barely take his eyes off the “heroes”.
One of the firefighters patted Jase’s shoulder and said, “Good job!” Jase smiled back at him and uttered brimming with confidence, “Thank you, sir. I will become a real hero like you someday.” As the fighters left, Jase gazed after them with admiration. In the following years, he went to extraordinary lengths to pursue his childhood dream. And well, today, Jase has helped several families from such tragic events, and he is indeed a hero, a firefighter. Sometimes, he looks back at the “firetruck” and feels proud of how far he has come.
