一、动词-ing形式作主语的形式及意义
doing 一般形式，主动意义 (being表示状态) | 表示的动作或状态与谓语动词所表示的动作或状态同时发生或发生在谓语动词之后。 |
being done一般形式，被动意义 | 同上 |
having done 完成形式，主动意义 | 表示的动作发生在谓语动词动作之前。 |
动词-ing形式的否定形式：在其前面直接加not | 注意其完成形式否定结构为not having done。 |
动词-ing形式的复合结构：前面加所有格或者形容词性物主代词，用以表明其动作发出者。 | 此时多用于表明动词-ing形式的结构的动作执行者，且其不同于谓语动词动作发出者时 |

二、动词-ing形式作主语时的注意事项
1．动词-ing形式作主语时，通常置于句首，往往表示经常性、习惯性的动作或状态。
Playing basketball is good for our health.

2．动词-ing形式作主语时，谓语动词用第三人称单数形式。
Helping others means helping ourselves.
帮助别人意味着帮助我们自己。
3．通常用形式主语it代替动词-ing形式作主语时，动词-ing形式后置，常常变为动词不定式结构。
Hiking through the forest in the national park is really challenging.

4．部分句型中使用形式主语it时，真正的主语可以使用动词-ing形式，如：
