Inside the furnace was burning hot liquid iron which the craftsmen(工 匠) threw into the air to create fireworks. 1. As its name suggests, the traditional art form was inspired by the process of forging(锻造) iron. For more than 1,000 years—since the Song Dynasty—it has served as a form of celebration during China􀆳s Spring Festival and Lantern Festival. Each perform- ance is a prayer for good luck. When felow vilagers open a business or get married, they invite Liu and his team to celebrate the event and hopefuly bring them good fortune. “I grew up by the Yelow River. I have been doing it for more than 40 years,” Liu said. 2. According to Liu, the furnace needs to be preheated for nearly 40 minutes before the show starts and the temperature inside of it must be higher than 1,500℃. 3. On the day of the performance, the craftsmen put iron blocks into the furnace. It warms up the cold air of early spring. When night fals, the show starts. Using a big long spoon, a man takes the molten(熔化 的) iron from the furnace. He then hits the iron with a piece of wood. Bang! Bang! The red-hot molten iron becomes sparks. 4. In some ways, they can be more beautiful than real fireworks. Under the shower of sparks, the whole vilage is lit up. People sit or stand around the furnace with happy smiles on their faces. 5. The artists wear straw hats and sheepskin coats as protection, but accidents stil happen. During a performance in Henan Province, Liu􀆳s hair and eyebrows got slightly burnt. “People ask me why I􀆳m stil doing it when it􀆳s so dangerous. I tel them that I􀆳m just happy to bring joy to people,” Liu said. 根据短文内容,从所给的七个选项中选择合 适的选项填入文中空白处(有两项多余)。 A. These shining “stars” light up the night sky. B. It first appeared in the Spring and Autumn Period. C. For Liu and his felow vilagers in Shanxi Province, “datiehua” is one of the most popular Spring Festival customs. D. Behind the wonderful show, however, lies great danger. E. This performance is known as “datiehua”. F. Only in this way can the liquid iron be fine enough to create amazing sparks(火花). G. According to a story, he once found a boy at the edge of an icy cliff(悬崖) that no human could reach. Barry carefuly woke up the child by touching his face. Then the boy threw his arms around Barry􀆳s neck, and the big dog carried him to safety. Today, dogs are stil kept at the mountain monastery(修 道 院) where Barry worked. And at least one dog is always named Barry. When Meriwether Lewis and Wiliam Clark set out to explore the American West in 1804, they brought along Lewis􀆳s dog, Seaman. One night, a big buffalo broke into the campground. As the scared animal ran to the tent where the explorers were sleeping, Seaman threw himself in the buffalo􀆳s path and drove it away. Forever thankful, Lewis named a river in Montana “Seaman􀆳s Creek” in honour of his brave dog. A dog burned Newton􀆳s homework? Many years after Newton􀆳s death, a book about Newton􀆳s life said that the fire started when Newton􀆳s pet dog turned over a candle. But Newton never mentioned having a dog, and most historians ▲ . On April 20, 1918, the restless dog kept the pilot awake al night. The very next day, an enemy plane shot down Richthofen􀆳s plane. Coincidence (巧合)? Or was Richthofen too sleepy to fly wel?
