The aim of these new rules is to soften the influence of over-tourism on the local community. Venice is a popular place of interest in Italy. Millions of tourists come to the city each year, many just for one day.
The new rules make sure there are no more than 25 people in a tour group—or about half of the passengers on a standard tour bus—and stop guides from using loudspeakers that make loud noises.
The new rules apply to(适用) both the historic center of Venice and the islands of Murano, Burano, and Torcello. An officer named Elisabetta Pesce from Venice said that these new rules are kind of an important measure that aims at improving the management of tour groups, promoting(促进)environment-friendly tourism, and protecting the city.
In recent years, Venice has taken other steps to control overtourism, including announcing a plan to require day-trippers to make a reservation(预订)and pay €5, and stopping the use of large tour ships.

Scientists have mapped the largest deep coral reef(珊瑚礁) off America's Atlantic coast. Researchers say the reef spreads about 500 kilometers from Florida to South Carolina. In some places, it is 109 kilometers wide. The researchers measured the size using 3D mapping technology. "It's eye-opening—it's surprising in size, "the ocean scientist Stuart Sandin said.
Ocean scientists have known since the 1960s that there was some coral life off the Atlantic Coast. But the reef's exact size had remained a mystery. New underwater mapping technology made it possible to create 3D images of the ocean floor.
The largest yet known deep coral reef "has been right under our noses, waiting to be discovered, "said Derek Sowers, an ocean scientist at Ocean Exploration Trust. Sowers and other scientists recently shared maps of the reef in the magazine Geomatics.
The reef was found at ocean depths from 200 to 1, 000 meters. Unlike tropical(热带的) coral reefs, deep coral reefs cannot use sunlight to carry out photosynthesis (光合作用). Instead, they must filter(过滤) food particles(颗粒) out of the water for energy.
Tropical reefs are better known to scientists because they are easier to reach. The world's largest tropical coral reef system, Australia's Great Barrier Reef, spreads over 2, 300 kilometers. Deep reefs cover more of the ocean floor than tropical reefs. But both of them are facing similar risks, including climate change and damage from oil and gas exploration activities.
Sowers said it is possible that larger deep-sea reefs will be discovered in the future since only about 25 percent of the world's ocean floor has been mapped in 3D.
27. How did Stuart Sandin feel about the size of the largest deep coral reef?
A. Disappointed. B. Curious. C. Surprised.
28. Which of the following is TRUE?
A. The deep coral reefs get food from the water.
B. Scientists have discovered the largest deep coral reef.
C. Ocean scientists have long known the reef's exact size off the Atlantic coast.
29. What do deep coral reefs and tropical coral reefs have in common?
A. They are not easy to reach.
B. They are both in danger.
C. They both get used to climate change.
30. What information can we get from the last paragraph?
A. The deep-sea reefs will grow larger.
B. More deep-sea reefs may be mapped.
C. The 3D technology will be improved.

To be honest, no matter how old we are, most of us love it when our parents do things for us. It makes our lives 46 (comfortable), and we have less to worry about.
Some parents 47 (prepare) almost everything for their children since they were born. They consider their older children(and sometimes even adults) 48 babies! In big cities in China, most parents only have one child. They are afraid to let them go anywhere or do anything by 49 (they). As a result, their children fail 50 (learn) social skills, and come to depend more on the parents!
So some experts suggest that children shouldn't 51 (take) good care of by their parents all the time. Children need their own time to develop into adults and to learn 52 to deal with problems. It is not necessary for parents to care too much about the 53 (safe) of their children. Too much care spoils(破坏) their fun when they are growing up. 54 they may get into trouble when they can't depend on their parents, they can learn a lot from them.
It is nice that parents show their care and attention to their children. It is nice that children know that their parents' care is the result of love. And it would be nicer if they were the children 55 can let their parents know how much love they really need and how much love is too much.

On March 1st, 2024,three Spain-born pandas, Chulina, Jiu Jiu, and You You, arrived in China after a 12-hour flight with their parents Bing Xing and Hua Zui Ba. All the pandas are in good health.
The panda parents started their life at the Madrid Zoo in Spain in 2007. Since then, they have given birth to six baby pandas there. Their three older children, born in 2010 and 2013, have already returned to China. Of the three younger ones, Chulina was born in 2016 and a pair of twins, You You and Jiu Jiu, were born in 2021.
Before the pandas returned to China, the Madrid Zoo held a party to say goodbye to this panda family. At the ceremony, Madrid's mayor (市长) said,“Saying goodbye is sad, which is like saying goodbye to loved ones when they are going on a trip, but I'm also joyful because we have already had a close relationship with the cute pandas.”
The Madrid Zoo received the first pair of pandas from China in 1978. Four years later, Chu Lin was born, the first baby panda born in captivity(被圈养的) in Europe.
Over the years, workers in Madrid Zoo have learned to care for, protect, and raise pandas with the help of Chinese and Spanish experts. "Through the pandas, I can learn a lot about the Chinese culture," said Alejandro Cabrera, one of the men workers taking care of the pandas.“They all have Chinese names and I know their meanings. They are very good ambassadors(大使) of China.”

Venice, Italy, has made new rules to control overtourism(过度旅游). These new rules are planned to take effect on June 1, 2024.
The low-lying city also faces another big problem: flood. Venice has sunk more than 5.9 inches over the past century, and in 2019 a flood made more than 85% of Venice underwater.
23.What does the second paragraph mainly talk about?
A. The aims of these new rules.
B. The new ways of controlling over-tourism.
C. The reasons for controlling over-tourism.
24. Why are these new rules important?
A. Because they can cut tourism costs.
B. Because they can save Venice from flood.
C. Because they can reduce the influence of overtourism.
35. Which of the following is against the new rules of Venice?
① The number of travelers in a tour group is 28.
② Tourists pay more money to take large tour ships.
③ Day-trippers don't enter the city without a reservation.
A.①② B. ①③ C.②③
26. What does the underlined word“sunk" mean in Chinese?
根据第二段中的“The new rules make sure there are no more than 25people in a tour group"可知,这次的新规规定单个旅游团的人数不能超过25人,故①项违反了威尼斯的规定;根据倒数第二段中的"stopping the use of large tour ships”可知,威尼斯禁止使用大型旅游船,故②项违反了威尼斯的规定,故选A。
