—Andy
Hi, Andy,
It’s great that you have an interest in writing! You can try talking to your family about how much it means to you. But your own love for it is also important. Why not look for writing groups to share and talk about your work with other writers? Or even set up one in your school.
For inspiration, read different kinds of books to know better about different writing styles. Also, look at what’s happening around you and in the world. The key thing is just to write! Sometimes, when we just start writing, ideas can flow (涌现)!
Happy writing!

I have never tried to understand my neighbours, but this neighbour taught me a lesson.
It was a little cold in late autumn. Fallen leaves were here and there. I felt cold in the wind and my face turned red.
The door behind me was closed. How unlucky I was! I forgot to take my keys. Both my parents were busy working in their offices. So I took out my exercise books and started to do my homework under the street lights. It was getting darker, and I felt hungry. I stood up and brought out my pocket money. One yuan, two yuan… I hoped to get a bowl of noodles for dinner. But a sudden wind blew my money away! I got so sad that I almost cried out.
Just at this moment came my neighbour, Mrs. Wang. She asked, “Why are you standing alone outside?” “I… I left my keys at home,” I had to answer. “Oh, I see. Then come to my home. I made some dumplings,” she invited me. I felt happy as soon as I heard her words, but then I felt embarrassed. She went on, “Come on. We are neighbours. We should help each other, right?”
I had a good dinner at Mrs. Wang’s home, and what she said made me feel warmer in my heart. Really, a good neighbour is better than a brother living far away. My neighbour helped me when I was in trouble. I will never forget it.

B. Always be patient when we face problems.
C. A good neighbour is better than a brother living far away.

Did you climb a tree when you were young? How did you feel? What if you have a “tree climbing class” at school? A primary school in Hangzhou has opened a “tree climbing class” recently. Quite a lot of people are interested in the special class.
“Go! Go for it! You’re almost to the top!” On Monday morning, children at Xuezheng Primary School in Hangzhou get together around a tall tree. They are cheering on their classmates who are climbing the tree. On the big tree, there are wooden stirrups (脚蹬) (No harm will come to the tree). P.E. teachers help the children put on protective gear (防护装备) to keep them safe, and then they start the tree climbing class happily.
Chen Yang is one of the P. E. teachers. He said the children thought it was a little scary when they first took the class, He encouraged them, and soon they were braver (更勇敢). Some of the students can climb to the highest point now and they are so excited.
So why did they start this course? In fact, such tree climbing classes are common (普遍的) around the world. Cornell University in the US first started the college tree climbing class. In 2012, students in Xiamen University started to take the class. There are also such classes in Hubei University and Hangzhou Dianzi University.
Tree climbing is the same as rock climbing. It allows children not only to release (释放) their nature but also to challenge themselves. Maybe there will be more interesting and useful P.E. classes in the future.

A. The Famous University B. The Special P.E. Teacher

Ⅸ. 阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
阅读下面短文,按要求完成下列小题。
Dear David,
How are you these days? Today I’m going to tell you something between me and my good friend. Last year, my good friend Carlos invited me to his birthday party. At his party I saw my first pinata (彩盒). It looked like an animal and was full of candies. People put it on the ceiling (天花板). Carlos hit (打) the pinata. All the candies fell on the floor, and we had a great time eating candies. Everyone shared. It was fun!
Carlos’s birthday party also got me thinking about how kids in other places celebrate birthdays.
Do you know that in Vietnam kids do not celebrate on birthdays? Instead (相反地), on New Year’s Day, all the kids celebrate their birthdays. Parents give kids red envelopes (信封) with lucky money in them.
In South Africa, kids do not celebrate every birthday. However, on their 21st birthday, their parents make a key. It can be made of paper or wood. Parents give their child this key. It is a sign from the parents that the child can now “unlock the door to their future life”.
In Japan, children get a new set of clothes on their birthdays. But in Italy, adults (成年人) pull children’s ears—one pull for each year.
My friend Carlos also helps me to know more in many other ways. Do you have such an experience with your friends?
