回答问题 A journey through art
Over the weekend, I visited the Frida Kahlo Museum, also known as La Casa Azul (The Blue House), in Mexico. It was once the home of Frida Kahlo, and now it is a museum about her.
Kahlo was a famous artist known for her special self-portraits (自画像). Her paintings often look at themes like identity (身份), the human body and death.
When Kahlo was 18, she was in a bus accident. During her slow recovery (恢复) in the hospital, Kahlo taught herself to paint. Many of her works are self-portraits. In one painting, she painted herself with a unibrow (一字眉) to show that there is not just one standard of beauty.
As I walked around the house, I learned more about her life. There were many photos of her family and herself. There was also a painting of her dad, named Portrait of My Father.
Although she passed away 70 years ago, the museum has kept her workspace very well. It feels like that she has just stepped out for a while and might come back at any time.
To be honest, I’ve always wanted to learn more about Frida Kahlo since she is an icon (偶像) in Mexico. This experience was perfect for that. If you ever visit Mexico and are interested in its history and art, this is a great place you should not miss.
