应用文写作
Dear Alice,
I am sorry to hear that you are anxious about the coming exam. I’m writing to give you some suggestions.
In my opinion, it’s important for you to have a right attitude towards exams. They are only a means of checking how you are getting along with your studies, so there is no need to worry too much about the results. I recommend that you should study hard every day and make good preparations for exams. In this way, you can avoid suffering from the pressure of exams. Besides, you’d better go out for a walk or do some outdoor exercise so that you can keep yourself relaxed and then concentrate on exams.
I hope my advice can be of great help to you. Wish you success in the exam!
Yours,
Li Hua
听力理解(原文)
1.C【原文】W: Why is it so cold today? I thought the weather report said it was supposed to be sunny and warm.
M: Well, it is supposed to be nice later this afternoon. The fog should burn off by lunchtime and this wind should die down too.
2.A【原文】W: What are your plans for Thanksgiving, Tod?
M: Oh, it's a tradition in my family to go up to my grandpa's house in the woods and have a big dinner up there. About twenty of my relatives will be coming.
W: Wow, that sounds like so much fun. I think my parents and I are just going to my aunt's house to be with her.
3.C【原文】M: I’ve forgotten when the concert starts. Does it say on the tickets?
W: It says seven as usual, but the ticket agent said that the time had been changed for this performance. It’ll start an hour later.
M: Great! That gives us an extra hour for dinner.
4.B【原文】M: You should really take the subway to work, not only is it cheaper than driving your car but it actually takes less time to get to work in the morning.
W: Yeah, but I just hate the feeling of crowded subway cars.
5.C【原文】W: I like these hats. What do you think of them?

6.C 7.A 8.C
【原文】W: Why don’t you wait a moment? I can’t catch up with you.
M: Are you kidding? We just started about 30 minutes ago, and we still have a long way to go.
W: I’m so tired. I’m not in as good shape as you are.
M: I’ve told you it is a very tough thing, a physically and mentally demanding outdoor activity. We have to keep going and reach the top by noon, or we might just give up right now and go home.
W: Oh, no. I certainly don’t want to give up. But I’m so tired. Let me rest a little, and then we can continue after I get my strength back.
M: We’ve just climbed for half an hour, and you are already tired. You’ll be tired again very soon after you take a break. You’ll also have to take a rest every 20 minutes throughout the hike.
W: No, I won’t. I promise. Why don’t we have some fruit and enjoy the view for a moment?
M: OK, let’s take a short rest.

【原文】When I turned seven years old, my sister and I didn’t have any pets. Our cat had died almost a year before. Ever since Tabby died, I have felt a little lonely. Cats make you feel less worried. They’ll sleep in your bed and make you warm at night. They’ll sit on your legs quietly and watch TV with you. I really missed my cat. Well, on my seventh birthday, my father came home by car like he always did. My sister Terri and I met him at the door as usual. When my father came inside the house, he put his black bag down and got on his knees in front of us. Instead of giving us a hug, he told me to take off his blue work jacket. I did, and I saw two little cats! One was white, and the other was brown. My sister started laughing happily. I didn’t know what to say and just stared at the beautiful little cats. My father gently put the white one into my arms and said, “Happy Birthday!”

【原文】M: Do you know that we have to start choosing the courses this week?
W: Oh, really? I wasn’t told about that.
M: Don’t worry. We have three days left. You should first think about what course you would like to choose.
W: What courses is the school offering this year?
M: Here is the list.
W: There are so many courses. Yoga, Chinese, chess...Which one should I choose?
M: Just choose the one you are interested in.
W: Oh, I like this course.
M: Which one? The Art of Film?
W: Yes, I heard that we can watch many films in that class.
M: OK, I will choose Japanese.
W: That’s good. Let’s fill in the form.

The school I attended is an all-female boarding school, which is the only single-sex

there. Some of the seniors helped take my suitcase(手提箱) to the dorm(宿舍),where I met my

Sally is Korean and Laura American, who impressed me most with her beautiful eyes and
sweet smiles.
Since we had no classes in the morning, the four of us decided to explore our campus. Our

I really place many people into two categories when it comes to shopping. The first is
people who simply love doing window shopping and do it quite regularly maybe because they
are really good at spotting bargains. The other category, which I suppose is obvious that
people who simply dislike shopping for anything. They find it very boring, and frustrating
and do not particularly like going to their local shopping malls for anything. They will
probably do anything to try and get away with shopping for gifts and I had the same problem
until I discovered something.
The simple discovery was to shop online for everything. This is especially fantastic
when you are shopping online for gifts because there are so many websites out there
dedicated to(致力于)supplying all kinds of gifts for every occasion you can think of. The
greatest thing is that you can do this from the comfort of your own home without having to
leave and sit at a computer with a nice mug of coffee to help. Researching is always important
because you need to make sure whoever you are going to purchase this before is going to like
it. You need to make sure of your researched pricing to ensure that you are getting good value
for money. Generally, online you will always find things cheaper than buying something in a
store in your local shopping mall. The fact that the website does not have many overheads
with staffing and rent(租赁)gives them the opportunity to sell products at a reduced price.
It’s also important that you make sure the website you purchase things from has a good
reputation. Check their customer service and also read any feedback that they may have from
customers who have already made a purchase.
23.Why do some people like doing window shopping better?
A.Maybe because they have more time to kill.
B.Maybe because they like the bargaining occasions.
C.Maybe because they like to appear in crowded places.
D.Maybe because they don’t know how to do online shopping.
24.The best factor for the author to shop online should be ______.

A.The shop owners introduce goods with bad quality.
B.The shop owners needn’t employ many workers.
C.The shop owners spend more on rent than that at a physical store.
D.The shop owners have less opportunity to sell products at a reduced price.
26.To ensure you buy things from a standard shop you can ______.
A.call the earlier buyer for information
B.surf earlier customers’ comments on the website
C.surf to find the personal information of the shop owner
D.turn to the police for advice on the information of the shop owner

A sleepover (过夜) program, which is designed to make kids believe that their favorite
toys enjoy reading, can help encourage children to pick up more books, a new study suggests.
Toys sleepover programs are designed to get children interested in books. Children take
their toys to a library for the night. At this point, workers and volunteers take photos of the
toys which explore the library and read books. The next day, the children collect their toys
and the photos of what the toys did during the night. They are given the books their toys
chose to read.
It was found that before the sleepover the children did not spend time looking at the
books in their play area at preschool. Immediately after the sleepover, the number of children
who read to the toys was higher than the number who did not, but after three days the effect
decreased gradually.
The researchers also tested a method for sustaining the effect. They reminded the
children of the sleepover a month later, by hiding the toys and showing them the photos again
the next day. This simple method brought an increase in the number of children reading to
their toys.
The study proves for the first time that children who take part in sleepover programs read
picture books to their toys more. “We wanted to know if there really was an effect, and if so,
how long it lasts. Surprisingly, not only did the children show interest in the books, but they
also began to read to their toys. This means that a new behavior pattern appeared that the
children hadn’t had before. We did not expect anything like this,” said one of the researchers.
Reading is important for the development of children’s language skills and imagination.
When parents read to their children, it is a passive way of reading for the child. However,
when children read to their toys, it is a more active, self-directed way of reading, helping
them develop into more active readers, researchers said.

that there was no turning back. The family I would 40 was waiting for me, and it
would only be five days before the new school year. The school I attended was 41
my school back in the United States. I was quite 42 at first, especially never having
been to a new school—even in the USA.Everything went without 43 , though. The
teachers were welcoming and the students were friendly.
The most 44 time was travelling with other exchange students around Australia
during our semester break. The few weeks we 45 together were full of amazing
activities.
At the end of our 46 in Australia, we had three weeks to share our stories
and help each other deal with leaving. It was only 47 that our last day together
was filled with tears. We packed our camp , 48 e-mail addresses and gathered
together for a final goodbye.
Upon coming home, an open mind was again important. Resettling home took time and
49 , but at last I made it. All the while, I was thoughtful to let my family and friends
know how happy I was to be home and how much I had missed them—though the experience
is still 50 with me. So, if you have the opportunity to study abroad, you most
certainly should go.
