The Fourth Period:Section B(1a-1e) 教学目标 知识与技能 1. Master the key words; ant, insect. 2.Learn to talk about the things people used to like to do when they were children by listening and speaking practice. 3. Train students' ability to get information in conversation and to express their ideas. 过程与方法 1.Learn some new words using word cards and pictures. 2. Train students' listening and speaking skills by doing some practice. 情感、态度与价值观 Students should care for the process of their growth. 重点难点 重点 1.Master the new words and target language. 2.Master the usage of used to. 3.Develop students' listening and speaking skills. 难点 Talk about what you used to be/do. 课前准备 Multimedia software and word cards. 教学过程 Step I Warm up 1.Revise the words by asking students to pronounce them correctly. Word competition by word cards in groups. 2.Get students to ask and answer in pairs like this: A: What did you use to be? B:I used to be short. A:What did you use to have? B: I used to have short straight hair. A: What did you used to wear? B: I used to wear glasses. A: What did you use tobe like? B: I used to be a little shy. Step II Presentation 1.Teach activities 1a & 1b. These two parts are designed to train students'listening and speaking skills. First, call students' attention to the pictures and ask students to describe what they are doing. Then, read the instructions in la and 1b together with the class. After that, let students finish the task as required. At first, students check the things they used to do, and then write other things they do in the blanks. Finally, let students discuss with their partners. 2. Teach activities 1c & 1d. These two parts are designed to provide students with oral practice using the target language. First,invite a student to read the four sentences in 1c. Then play the recording. Students listen and check the sentences they hear. Then, read the instructions to the class in 1d,and call students' attention to the columns "In the past" and “Now" in the chart. Finally, play the same recording. Students listen carefully and fill the right words in the blanks. Step III Practice Teach activity le. This part is designed to train students' speaking skill. First, invite a pair of students to read the sample conversation to the class, and then students make new conversations. Ask students to work in pairs, and give them some language and grammar help if necessary. After that, have one or two pairs of students to act out their conversations to the class. Sample conversation: A: I used to be afraid of snakes. What about you? B:Yes, me too. They are dangerous. Step IV Summary In this period, students mainly consolidated the target language through some listening and speaking practice. They mastered the usage of used to and developed their integrated skills. Step V Homework 1.
