Step 1: Warming up
1. Show some pictures of great inventions such as the computer, the mobile phone, and the airplane on the PPT and ask students to name them.
2. Have a brief discussion with students about the importance of these inventions in our daily lives.
Step 2: Lead-in
1. Present a question: "What do you think is the greatest invention in human history?"
2. Ask students to share their opinions and reasons.
Step 3: Pre-listening
1. Show some new words and phrases on the PPT and explain their meanings. For example: "invention, borrow, website, put up, thousands of, electronic"
2. Ask students to read the words and phrases aloud to consolidate their memory.
Step 4: While-listening
1. Play the recording of the conversation for the first time. Students just listen and try to get the main idea.
2. Play the recording for the second time. Ask students to answer the following questions:
What are Tony and Lingling talking about?
Does Tony think computers will be used more than books in the future?
3. Play the recording for the third time. Pause at key points and ask students to repeat the sentences to practice pronunciation.
Step 5: Post-listening
