It was the end of August. It was also the end of my soccer life and even the use of my arm. It was a match against Saugus High School. Before half-time (中场休息) , the score was 4-0. Suddenly I had a feeling that something was about to go very wrong. A voice was telling me not to play at that time, but I had to win!
I threw the ball to one of my teammates, but the star player from Saugus got the ball and I began to run at full speed. I got the ball, but also hit the player with it on purpose.
A large player from Saugus saw what I did to his teammate and got angry. Instead of tackling(抢球), he went just for my legs, and got my arm. My wrist (手腕) got stuck and I felt it broken like a weak stick. I was told by the doctor of Boston Children's Hospital that “It is the worst break I have ever seen”. He continued to say that I should not play soccer for at least a year.
At first I was lost, angry and in pain. But then I learned that I am more than just an athlete (运动员) . When I paid attention to schoolwork instead of soccer, I actually did very well. Life is full of the unexpected. This is even true for a small pet dog. A dog called Romeo has been pulled from the rubble (瓦砾) in an earthquake, more than nine days after he was given up for dead.
On August 24, 2016, a terrible earthquake happened in Italy. The earthquake made millions of people lose their houses, killing at least 250 people and hurting more than 360 people.
Romeo's owners were sleeping on the second floor of their house when the earthquake happened. They managed to get out. But Romeo, who was sleeping on the first floor, was trapped inside. They tried their best to search for Romeo, but failed. After a few hours, they had to leave the village for their own safety.
All hope of finding Romeo alive seemed to disappear until Friday evening. That night the couple returned to their home with a group of firemen. Almost as soon as they came into the village, Romeo heard their voices and began barking(吠叫).
The couple couldn't believe their ears. The firemen began digging at once where the barking was coming from and got to the dog. It was lucky that the dog was in pretty good condition. He looked like he had just woken from a short sleep.
Appearing completely relaxed, the dog drank his first drops of water in more than 230 hours from a bottle held by one of the firemen.
As it became clear that he didn't get hurt, the fireman put him down. When Romeo's owners saw him, they couldn't help crying. "We thought we had lost him forever!" said one of Romeo's owners. Then Romeo left happily with his owners who had given up hope of finding him alive.
The discovery of Romeo also cheered those firemen. "We believe there must be many more that are still alive. We'll try our best to save them. "
28.What does the underlined word "trapped" mean?

31.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A.Millions of people lost their lives in the earthquake.

第二节 (共4小题;每小题2分,满分8分)
What is the most stressful thing in school? It is probably exams. Exams can put us under a lot of pressure. But some students do well under pressure while others feel terrible. 32.
It all comes down to dopamine(多巴胺). 33. It has many important roles: influencing memory, attention, and how we learn. Our brains work best when there is an even(均等的) balance of dopamine— not too much or too little. The brain controls dopamine in two ways. It either takes out dopamine quickly or gradually. Exam success can be related to how fast dopamine goes back to an even balance.
Is there anything that can help change the speed of dopamine getting into our body? If you become stressed, your brain will start to have too much dopamine. 34. The quicker you are able to go back to an even balance of dopamine, the quicker you can fix yourself perform better on a test.
Scientists found that, during a test, people who slowly got back to an even balance of dopamine scored 8 percent lower. 35. The answer is yes. So don't fear, there is some good news. The study also found that the more practice you get, the less stressed you' ll be. So, it turns out that practice really does make perfect.
A. What happens when we sit for an exam?
B. It is like a cup flowing over with water.
C. So, why do some students perform better under stress?
D. That's the difference between a good mark and a bad mark.
E. Dopamine is a chemical in our brain that sends information to our body.

A.Stored. B.Poured. C.Caught.

【答案】An Unforgettable Experience
Everyone has some unforgettable experiences. I had a very unforgettable experience when I was 11 years old. I had some training with my classmates. We went to Fengxian and we needed to live in a small dormitory for two days. We did everything ourselves. Our parents couldn't help us, because they didn't stay with us. We got up very early in the morning. We had to clean ourselves quickly. And then we stood in a line. We leant a lot of things there, such as cooking, washing and even making beds. Every day, we had to practice more than five hours. Now I think it was very hard for everyone but it was very good for us. Because we are looked after by our parents, but in fact should learn how to look after ourselves. What an unforgettable experience it is!
