As the wind blew, a huge crowd of people got together in Weifang, Shandong province, looking to the sky in surprise. Over their heads, a sea of colorful kites in different sizes danced—they were shaped in high-speed trains, dragons, cartoon characters and so on. One local person said that in Weifang, everything you imagine, from sea animals to dinosaurs, could fly into the sky. More than 150 teams from 59 countries took part in the 40th Weifang International Kite Festival. They sent their kites into the sky for the opening of the festival on April 15. The festival lasted for about a month.
Wang Yongxun, an experienced kite maker in Weifang, took part in the festival with kites in different kinds of vegetables, including Chinese cabbages, yellow carrots and other green vegetables. “Weifang is known for its vegetables, so we make vegetable kites to show our love to our hometown, ” said Wang. “We are proud of the fast development of our country’s high—speed rail network, so we made this train kite to send our best wishes to the nation and the festival, ” Another maker said.
Kites have been flown in Weifang for about 2, 400 years. It is said that ancient Chinese scholar Mozi made the first kite. He is said to have spent three years making a wooden kite, but on the first day it flew, it fell to the ground and broke. An ancient book says that kites were invented by Lu Ban. Local historical records show that Weifang kites were popular during the Ming Dynasty and were a main folk art in the Qing Dynasty.

Most of us know what it’s like to get presents from friends. Whether it’s for a birthday or other celebrations, it’s hard to beat the excitement of opening a box to find something that’s unexpected and fits you well. Now, imagine if you could get the same feeling when you go shopping for yourself. That’s the feeling that mystery boxes hope to give you.
Mystery boxes are not a new idea—People did this in stores in Japan in the early 20th century. They sell a group of different products more cheaply than normal. The key thing is that customers don’t know what’s in the box before they buy. All kinds of mystery boxes are available: fashion boxes, food boxes, beauty boxes and so on.
The pleasant surprise is not the only amazing thing about mystery boxes. They also allow people to try new things. Seasonal (季节性) vegetable boxes might lead people to learn to cook new meals. They can also help people to save money—as these products are often far more expensive than when they are in the mystery boxes. For sellers the benefit (收益) is clear–it allows them to sell their unwanted products in their stores. British fashion mystery box boss Mario Maher explains how mystery boxes can help to make the waste less. If some of these products are not sold in the mystery boxes, they will probably be thrown away.
However, there is a downside to mystery boxes when you buy them, you don’t know what you’ll get! It may be that the goods inside are not to your taste, and there is also the risk for cheats to sell products in the mystery box more expensively.
So, are mystery boxes a fun way of making waste less and making shopping more exciting, or more disappointing (失望), or worse—cheating?

The day after that, Jack and Puss in Boots were walking along the river when Puss asked Jack to take off his clothes and get into the river. “What?” said Jack. “Why should I?” “Do as I say. Pus s in Boots ran into the road. The King’s footman handed some fine clothes to Puss, and Puss handed them to Jack. Jack quickly got dressed. Jack looked very handsome in the king’s clothes. If you have ever ordered a cup of hot coffee or tea to be delivered (递送) in the winter, it was probably cold when it arrived because of the freezing weather. Wouldn’t it be great if, instead of arriving from a delivery person, you received it in half the time from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)—commonly known as a drone (无人机) right outside your window and was still hot? It’s all happening now, as several Chinese cities, including Shenzhen in Guangdong province, Shanghai and Hangzhou in Zhejiang province, began using UAVs for deliveries. Technology is serving people faster than expected.
Meituan was among the first group to start UAV trials (测验) in the city. “Technologies like UAVs are expected to play a greater role within a three-kilometer serving area,” said Mao Yinian, head of Meituan’s UAV business. According to Mao, the drone can fly at a height of less than 120 meters at a flight speed of 10 meters per second (每秒). It can carry a box of 3 kg and stay in air for up to 20 minutes. “In the next five to 10 years, the cost of unmanned deliveries will be the same to that of human deliveries, and the user experience brought by UAVs will be greatly improved,” he said.
In order to improve the experience of delivery, Meituan started the study of the UAV delivery serviv in 2017. In 2021, Meituan completed its first drone delivery in Shenzhen. As of December 2022, Meituan’s drone delivery service has landed in Shenzhen and Shanghai, covering 18 office buildings, serving about20,000 homes, and completing more than 120,000 orders. The usual delivery time of Meituan's UAV in 2022 was about 12 minutes. It is nearly 150 percent faster than traditional delivery models, saving users more than 30,000 hours of waiting time.

The day after that, Jack and Puss in Boots were walking along the river
when Puss asked Jack to take off his clothes and get into the river. “What?”
said Jack. “Why should I?” “Do as I say. Then wait and see what happens,”
said Puss in Boots. So Jack took off his clothes and jumped into the river. Puss
hid Jack’s clothes. “Hey!” shouted Jack. “Sh!” said Puss. “Here comes the
King!” He was right. The King was coming along the road.
Pus s in Boots ran into the road. He put up his hands. “Stop!” he shouted. “Oh, please help me!”
he said as the King looked out of the window. “My master (主人), the Marquis of Carabas, was
swimming in the river when somebody stole his clothes! Now he can’t get out of the river because he
has nothing to wear!” “Goodness!” said the King. “Stop! The Marquis of Carabas has been so kind to
me. I must help him. He can wear some of my clothes.”
The King’s footman handed some fine clothes to Puss, and Puss handed them to Jack. Jack
quickly got dressed. Jack looked very handsome in the king’s clothes. The King told his daughter,
“Princess Sophia, my dear, this young man is the Marquis of Carabas. He has been so kind to me,

If you have ever ordered a cup of hot coffee or tea to be delivered (递送)
in the winter, it was probably cold when it arrived because of the freezing
weather. Wouldn’t it be great if, instead of arriving from a delivery person, you
received it in half the time from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)—
commonly known as a drone (无人机) right outside your window and was still
hot? It’s all happening now, as several Chinese cities, including Shenzhen in
Guangdong province, Shanghai and Hangzhou in Zhejiang province, began
using UAVs for deliveries. Technology is serving people faster than expected.
Meituan was among the first group to start UAV trials (测验) in the city. “Technologies like
UAVs are expected to play a greater role within a three-kilometer serving area,” said Mao Yinian,
head of Meituan’s UAV business. According to Mao, the drone can fly at a height of less than 120
meters at a flight speed of 10 meters per second (每秒). It can carry a box of 3 kg and stay in air for

up to 20 minutes. “In the next five to 10 years, the cost of unmanned deliveries will be the same to
that of human deliveries, and the user experience brought by UAVs will be greatly improved,” he
said.
In order to improve the experience of delivery, Meituan started the study of the UAV delivery
serviv in 2017. In 2021, Meituan completed its first drone delivery in Shenzhen. As of December
2022, Meituan’s drone delivery service has landed in Shenzhen and Shanghai, covering 18 office
buildings, serving about20,000 homes, and completing more than 120,000 orders. The usual delivery
time of Meituan's UAV in 2022 was about 12 minutes. It is nearly 150 percent faster than traditional
delivery models, saving users more than 30,000 hours of waiting time.
