By 2050, the world will be urbanized (都市化的). Nearly 70% of the world’s population will live in cities. Many of them will develop into large cities with a population of more than 10 million. Moving people around each large city will be a very big challenge. The traffic speed in London will fall to about 7 miles per hour. Around the same speed it was 150 years ago, in the days of the horse and cart. But city planners are working on ways to solve the problem.
Robot Taxis
Robot taxis will play a part. It’s predicted that there’ll be over 30 million robot taxis on the road by 2040. People don’t need to drive by themselves. By 2050, there will be more than 50 million robot taxis in the city streets. We can call the taxis just at a single touch.
Buses
Public transport like buses will be highly personalized (个性化). People don’t need to look through the bus timetable. Buses will be connected on the Internet and make the way by themselves according to where the people need to go.
Bikes
Bikes will be helpful on that slow last mile of travel, too. Cities can build special roads for them high above city streets. Xiamen in southeast China already has an 8-kilometer bicycle way to protect riders like that. That may be another kind of urban transport in 2050. It will be multi-level (多层次). For many people, urban transport in 2050 might be cool.
16.Where will most people live by 2050?
A.In cities. B.In the countryside. C.In London. D.In villages.
17.How can we call the robot taxis?
A.By making a phone call. B.By writing a letter.
C.Through a single touch. D.By scanning the QR code.
18.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A.The traffic speed in London will still be fast in the future.
B.There will be many taxis on the road by 2040.
C.Buses can make the way by themselves without the Internet.

Why do We Yawn?
①Do you yawn? There are about 20 reasons that scientists think are possible for yawning(打哈欠) after research. They do not know exactly why yawning happens, but they do know many facts about yawning.
②We know that everyone yawns in the same way. First you open your mouth slowly. Your mouth stays open for about five seconds. You take in a lot of air and then push it out. Then you quickly close your mouth. We also know that yawning is contagious(有传染性的). When you see someone yawn, you yawn, too.
③Many people say they yawn because they are bored or tired. That might be true. People do often yawn before they sleep and after they wake up. However, we know that people also yawn when they are excited or nervous. Olympic runners, for example, often yawn before a race. Why is that? In 2007, scientists noticed that a yawn could help a warm brain cool down.
④Some scientists believe that yawning makes you notice things more quickly. When you yawn, you breathe deeply. You also stretch(拉紧) the muscles(肌肉) in your face, mouth, and neck. Your eardrums stretch, too. Maybe this helps you to be quicker to notice things.
⑤In some countries, people think yawning is not nice. People put their hands over their mouths to cover a yawn. In other countries, people think yawning is healthy. They think that opening the mouth very big can let good things in. When they breathe out, they think that bad things go out of the body with the air.
⑥Facts about Yawning are interesting, but scientists do not spend much time studying it. That is probably because yawning does not hurt. It is just something we do.

A world of differences
People enjoy eating together with family and friends all over the world. However, customs around the dinner table are quite different.
In some parts of the world, people think it is impolite to eat your food noisily or to make any noise when you drink. In China, for example, it is considered polite to eat and drink noisily, because this is a sign that you are enjoying your meal. What’s more, Chinese people also show respect (尊敬) to their hosts by leaving a little food in their bowls. However, in India, people show respect to their hosts by finishing all their food.
And what about when the meal is over and the restaurant bill (账单) arrives? In France, the custom is for one person to pay the whole bill. Then, finally, there is the problem of whether or not to leave a tip (小费) for the staff. In many countries, people only give one if the service has been especially good. In Japan, people almost never tip, while in the USA, you are expected to leave at least 15-20%.
So, before you travel anywhere, make sure you know the local customs!
A.Eating everything that is given to you is considered impolite.
B.For example, not everybody eats with a knife and fork.
C. What is polite in one country may be impolite in another.
D.In Germany, however, it is divided up according to how much each person has eaten.
