Unit 7 Reading and writing 一、阅读理解 A An Experiment on Growing Potato Plants Things prepared: *a potato that has sprouts (芽) *a flower pot with soil *a camera to record progress What I have watched: Day 1 The color of the soil looks darker because I have just watered it. In the center of the pot, I can see a tiny sprout that has grown from the potato under the soil. I call it Buddy. Buddy is green and yellow. I wonder how fast it will grow. Day 6 Without much change in the past five days, I finally see some new progress on Buddy as it has grown taller. It’s exciting to see new life like this. I hope Buddy can grow faster. One of my favorite things to do when I’m home alone is read. I have a big bookcase in my room, and I love picking out a book and getting lost in it. I feel comfortable lying in bed with a snack and reading for hours. Sometimes I even read out loud to Fluffy, my pet dog. Another thing I like to do is watching movies. I make some popcorn, turn down the lights, and enjoy the movie on the sofa. When I want to do something creative, I like to draw or paint. I have a set of watercolors and I love trying out several different colors to see what works best. Sometimes I even make cards for my family and friends. Music always makes me feel good, so I like to play some of my favorite songs and sing along. I dance around the living room and pretend (假装) I’m performing for a large group of people. It’s so much fun! Of course, I also have to take care of myself when I’m home alone. I make sure to eat healthy snacks and drink lots of water.
