T: Hello, boys and girls. Welcome to our English class. Today we will continue to learn Unit11 Chinese Festivals period 2. In this period, you will be able to achieve these three learning objectives. ①Read and understand these words: festival, important, call, dumpling, relative, red packet, firework. ②Talk about the Spring Festival with others. ③Learn more about traditional Chinese festivals and customs. Step 2: Presentation 1.Lead in Enjoy a song and guess: what festival is it? T: Before we get started, let's listen to a song. While listening, please think “What is the song about?” （Play the song） T: Can you guess what is the song about? Yes, you are clever. It's about the Chinese New Year. We can also call it the Spring Festival. 2. Brain storming T: Well, Do you know anything about the Spring Festival? When is it? What do people do? What do people eat? 3. Listen and say （1）Listen and answer T: Now let’s listen and read the first paragraph carefully. Then answer the following questions. Q1: When does the Spring Festival come? Q2: What else can we call the Spring Festival? T: It is an important Chinese festival. People also call it Chinese New Year. important（重要的）:The water is important for us. call（把…叫做）：My family name is Wang, so you can call me Miss Wang. （2）Listen and answer T: Listen to the second paragraph and answer the two questions. Q1: What do people do on Chinese New Year’s Eve? Q2: What do they often eat? On Chinese New Year’s Eve, families have a big dinner together. They often eat fish and dumplings. Ss repeat and look at the pictures. Ss read and practise. Look and read: In Chinese, “fish” sounds like “surplus”（余）. Chinese people always like to have a surplus at the end of the year, because they think if they can save something at the end of the year, then they can make more next year.（年年有余） Look and read: Chinese dumplings look like silver ingots（银元宝）. People think that if you eat more dumplings during the Spring Festival, then you can make more money（多多赚钱) in the new year . Ss look at the sentences and read together. （3）Listen and choose T: Here are two questions for you, listen to paragraph 3 and choose the right answers. Q1: Who do people visit at the Spring Festival? Q2: What do children often get at the Spring Festival? （4）Listen and answer T: There is a very special activity at night during Chinese New Year.What is it? Let’s listen. Q1: What do people do at night? Q2: Do you like fireworks? Why? 3. Listen and read T: Let’s review the passage together. In this part ,please listen to the audio and find out the missing words. You will have ten seconds to think the answers by yourself. 4. Practice: T: Can you introduce Chinese New Year to your parents or friends now? Look at your book, page 25. Culture corner （1）T: The Spring Festival is a very important festival in China.Do you know what is the important festivals in western countries? Yes ,it’s Christmas. Christmas is a very important festival in Western countries. （2）Introduce the Christmas T: Christmas comes in 25th December. In western countries, people usually eat ginger bread, turkey, smoked ham and so on.They have many activities in Christmas holiday, such as eat dinner together, decorate Christmas trees and visit each other. Although these two festivals are different in some ways , they have something in common. That is people's hope for happiness and health , and show the love of their life. 6. Let′s summarize T: Now let’s sum up together .In this class we learned a passage about the Chinese New Year .We learned about the things we do, the food we eat at Spring Festival. We learned some new words and expressions to introduce this festival.
