His interest in diversifying his skills grew after he stumbled upon a short video of traditional Chinese-styled dance on YouTube. “I saw it as an art that combines tradition and modernity, which was mostly the reason why I liked it,” says Filippi. Ever since, he has been closely following Chinese dance performers and watching numerous videos to learn more about the traditional style that he admires. “I prefer the traditional style because of its light movements. It also reflects my personality with elegance,” he adds. Filippi’s chance came when he was invited to perform for a Chinese New Year celebration in the central Italian city of Florence. He has since fully committed himself to the art form, learning several pieces and putting his newfound passion into practice. “The biggest difference that I found (compared to other disciplines) is the change of mood and emotional expressions among dances,” says Filippi, adding that he needed to shift from the dynamic moves of hip-hop to the graceful and fluid movements of Chinese dance. Despite various obstacles, Filippi’s efforts have not gone unnoticed. Two of his friends shared videos of his performances on social media, and the response was overwhelming. One video garnered 500,000 views, while the other received 200,000 views. Filippi believes that learning about different cultures is priceless, and he sees it as a means of personal growth. “I like to think of a person as a book,” he says. “Embracing different traditions and cultures, such as Chinese culture and many others, is like adding new chapters to my book, making it more diverse and wonderful.” 4. What is the main reason why Filippi falls in love with traditional Chinese dance? A. Its potential to boost his career. B. Its mix of traditional and modern elements. C. Its graceful and light movements. D. Its true reflection of his elegant personality. 5. How does the author illustrate the popularity of Filippi’s videos? A. By listing numbers. B. By giving an example. C. By sharing a story. D. By making a comparison. 6. What can be inferred from the last paragraph? A. Filippi thinks little of learning from other cultures. B. People prefer to write down their past experiences. C. Accepting various cultures boosts personal growth. D. A book with chapters on traditions is more wonderful. 7. What is the main idea of the passage? A. Chinese-styled dance videos go viral on social media. B. An Italian’s dance journey towards specialization starts. C. Filippi’s desire for Chinese culture extends beyond dance. D. An Italian dancer shows passion for Chinese-styled dance. 4. B 5. A 6. C 7. Sticking closely to Mediterranean eating habits, which also include plenty of nuts, seafood, whole grains and olive oil, has been linked to a 23 per cent lower risk of dementia. Based on data gathered on 60,000 people via the UK Biobank, a medical database set up in 2006, the researchers scored participants’ diets for how closely they matched the ideal Mediterranean diet on two scales. Using one, those whose eating habits were the best match were 23 per cent less likely to develop dementia than those whose diets least fit the pattern. A diet with a perfect score would involve more than four tablespoons of olive oil, at least two portions of vegetables and three of fruit per day as well as a glass of wine. It would also include at least three servings of legumes, 90 grams of nuts, and three servings of fish or shellfish a week. The ideal diet would also involve very little red or processed meat, avoiding too many sweetened drinks, butter, margarine or cream. The second scale used similar criteria and a close match on that was linked to a 14 per cent lower risk of dementia. The findings, published in the journal BMC Medicine, appeared to show a “protective effect regardless of someone’s genetic risk”. Dr Susan Mitchell, of Alzheimer’s Research UK, said, “There is a wealth of evidence that eating a healthy, balanced diet can help reduce the risk of cognitive decline. But the evidence for specific diets is much less clear-cut.” She pointed out that the study only drew on data from people with white, British or Irish ancestry. She said, “While there are no surefire ways to prevent dementia yet, a diet rich in fruit and vegetables, along with plenty of exercise and not smoking, all contribute to good heart health, which in turn helps to protect our brain from diseases that lead to dementia.” 8. What did the study find out? A. A new way to cure a disease. B. A popular diet to keep balance. C. A medical database to do research. D. A possible strategy to reduce the risk of dementia. 9. How did the researchers carry out the study? A. By making comparison. B. By presenting the process. C. By consulting other studies. D. By analyzing cause and effect. 10. What does Susan Mitchell think of the study? A. It’s evident. B. It’s limited. C. It’s practical. D. It’s promising. 11. Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage? A. B. C. D. 【答案】8. D 9. A 10. B 11. The chatbot was trained on a vast amount of data, including source code. It has previously demonstrated the ability to write software based on text and even to fix errors in existing code. Microsoft has now used the AI to take text commands from humans and interpret them into code that can control robots directly. In one test, ChatGPT wrote code to instruct a robotic arm to create a Microsoft logo from wooden blocks. In another, it steered a drone to reach a point while avoiding obstacles. The research was intended ”to see if ChatGPT can think beyond text, and reason about the physical world to help with robotics tasks“. ChatGPT isn’t in direct, real-time control of the robot, but simply creates the code that controls it. Microsoft said in its blog post that ChatGPT output shouldn’t be applied directly to a robot without ”careful analysis“, but experts warn that it is risky to even begin thinking about placing AI in control of physical machines. Mark Coeckelbergh at the University of Vienna, Austria, says that regulations may be needed in order to set out where AI can be used and who is responsible should things go wrong. ”It’s a very dangerous thing to just say “let’s give control of these computers to AI’, ” says Coeckelbergh. “The problem with contemporary artificial intelligence is that it’s not transparent to the user. That’s a huge problem. ” Others were sceptical about the ability of language models to program robots for complex tasks. Kathleen Richardson at De Montfort University Leicester, UK, says that AI language models are convincing mimics (模仿者), but that their real ability-including their adaptability to control robots-is often exaggerated. “I think Microsoft, and most people who design robots, have too much confidence in what they can do, ” she says. 12. Which function doesn’t belong to ChatGPT according to MICROSOFT? A. Create code. B. Correct code errors. C. Write software. D. Control robots directly. 13. What can we infer from paragraph 3? A. Experts agree that we can apply AI to code analysis. B. Experts warn against the idea of using AI to control robots. C. Microsoft believes ChatGPT output should be used indirectly. D. ChatGPT output has been widely applied after careful analysis. 14. What does the underlined word “exaggerated” in the last paragraph mean? A. Neglected. B. Simplified. C. Overestimated. D. Praised. 15. What is the author’s attitude towards the ability of ChatGPT to control robots? A. Objective. B. Favorable. C. Critical. D. Indifferent. D 13. B 14. C 15. 根据文章第二段的“It has previously demonstrated the ability to write software based on text and even to fix errors in existing code. Microsoft has now used the AI to take text commands from humans and interpret them into code that can control robots directly(它之前已经展示了基于文本编写软件的能力,甚至可以修复现有代码中的错误。 根据文章第三段的“Microsoft said in its blog post that ChatGPT output shouldn’t be applied directly to a robot without “careful analysis”, but experts warn that it is risky to even begin thinking about placing AI in control of physical machines.(微软在其博客文章中表示,在没有“仔细分析”的情况下,ChatGPT的输出不应该直接应用于机器人,但专家警告说,甚至开始考虑将人工智能应用于物理机器的控制都是有风险的)”可知,专家反对使用人工智能来控制机器人的想法,故选B项。 I think Microsoft, and most people who design robots, have too much confidence in what they can do(我认为微软和大多数设计机器人的人,都过于相信这些机器人能做的事情)可推断,划线句句意是:它们的真正能力——包括控制机器人的适应性——经常被夸大。 根据第三段的“Microsoft said in its blog post that ChatGPT output shouldn’t be applied directly to a robot without ”careful analysis“, but experts warn that it is risky to even begin thinking about placing AI in control of physical machines. (微软在其博客文章中表示,在没有“仔细分析”的情况下,ChatGPT的输出不应该直接应用于机器人,但专家警告说,甚至开始考虑将人工智能应用于物理机器的控制都是有风险的)”,第四段的“Mark Coeckelbergh at the University of Vienna, Austria, says that regulations may be needed in order to set out where AI can be used and who is responsible should things go wrong.(奥地利维也纳大学的Mark Coeckelbergh表示,可能需要制定法规,以便确定人工智能可以在哪里使用,以及如果出现问题谁应该负责)”,最后一段的“Kathleen Richardson at De Montfort University Leicester, UK, says that AI language models are convincing mimics (模仿者), but that their real ability-including their adaptability to control robots-is often exaggerated.(英国莱斯特德蒙福特大学的凯瑟琳·理查森说,人工智能语言模型是令人信服的模仿者,但它们的真正能力——包括控制机器人的适应性——往往被夸大了)”可推断作者介绍了微软官方对于ChatGPT操控机器人的言论,客观引用了各界观点,并未发表个人想法,故选A项。 Top Performers Never Let a Second Go to Waste Every person on the planet is given the same 1440 minutes each day; it’s how we choose to use them that makes all the difference. ___16___ To help you make the most of the time, check out these simple yet effective tips. I had reached the age when I began to really look at myself in the mirror, and I was upset. I had a cousin whose name was Janette Elizabeth. She looked exactly like her name sounds. She had perfect skin. I couldn’t help comparing myself with her and thinking’ that my life would be a lot different if I had beautiful skin too. And then, in the back pages of Elizabeth’s magazine, I found the answer: an advertisement for freckle-remover cream. I knew that I could afford it if I saved my money, and I did. The ad assured me that the product would arrive in mail soon. For three weeks I went to the mailbox every day.I knew that if someone else in my family got the mail, I would never hear the end of it. There was no way that they would let me open the box in private. Three weeks later, my package finally came. I went to my room with it, sat on the edge of my bed, and opened it. I was sure that I was looking at something that would make me beautiful. When I got up the next morning, I applied the cream all over my face. Then I took my hoe (锄头) and went with my brother and cousins to hoe the field, where I got rid of some tiger lilies (虎皮百合), seemingly ugly with black and small spots. The sun was so strong that my face started to burn. By the end of the day, when I came back to the house, my family, knowing nothing about the freckle-remover cream, began to say things like, “I’ve never seen you with that many freckles before.” When I saw myself in the mirror, I burst into tears and hid in the bathroom. My mother called me to the dinner table, but I ignored her. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ After what seemed a century, I heard a gentle knock on my bedroom door. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】范文: My mother called me to the dinner table, but I ignored her. When she came to the bathroom door and demanded that I come out and have a meal, I burst out of the door, tears streaming down my cheeks. Before she stopped me, I stormed into my room and banged the door. Looking into the mirror. I saw a girl with more and darker freckles on her face. Only then did I realize that the cream had side effects when wearing it in the sun. I threw myself down on the bed and sobbed. After what seemed a century, I heard a gentle knock on my bedroom door. Hesitating for a moment, with red eyes and still wet cheeks, I opened the door. At the door stood my mother with a big bunch of tiger lilies, which were covered with black spots but amazingly beautiful. I stared at her in surprise, not knowing what to say. My mother gave me a warm hug. “There are all kinds of flowers, and they are all beautiful and sweet,” she said. Hearing this, and smelling the fragrance of the tiger lilies, the freckles on my face seemed to have magically disappeared. 词汇激活 行为类 ①砰地关上门:bang the door/slam the door ②意识到:realize /be aware of/be conscious of ③盯着看:stare at/fix one’s eyes on/gaze at 情绪类 ①哭泣:sob/cry/weep ②惊讶:surprise/shock/astonishment 【点睛】[高分句型1]. B Having spent more than a decade on the dance floor, ROME — Niccolo Filippi, a 23-year-old Italian dance performer, recently decided to explore Chinese culture and its traditional dance forms and believes that this experience will not only boost his career, but also broaden his horizons beyond the world of dance. C A diet rich in fruit and vegetables and incorporating a daily glass of wine can protect the brain against dementia, a study suggests. A. B. C. D. D MICROSOFT says it has used the natural language AI ChatGPT, created by the company OpenAI, to control a range of robots with simple text commands. 12. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
