I'm going to secondary school next year and I have only one best friend but the thing is that she can't go to the same school as me. We have been best friends for years and are almost the same person. The real thing I'm worried about is not being able to make friends since I'm the shyest person you could ever meet. Dear E. C,
It is completely normal to worry about such a change happening in your life. But when people truly have a really deep connection, they do not just end a friendship because they're going to different schools. You and your friend both need to try to see and communicate with each other often. Going to secondary school is a great chance for both of you. You will both get to experience new things and meet new people, and when you both make new friends you can introduce them to each other and make even more friends!
You say you're shy, but remember that you're not alone. The first step to making a friendship is by having a regular conversation with someone, especially with someone going through the same thing as you. Be yourself and accept your shyness, and you will meet people who love it.
