Lead-in Students read the title together and know the learning objectives of this lesson. Then, let ss observe the picture and ask questions. (1) Who’s she? Who’re they? Where are they? (2) What’s in the teacher’s hand? What class are they having? (3) What do you think of this subject? (4) What’s your favourite subject? Why? Big question: Why do we learn different subjects? Step 2. Pre-listening (1) Create the situation. Today each student will be the school reporter. They should interview some students and give a report about their favourite subjects and reasons. To be a report, they should have professional knowledge. (2) According to some pictures, ss say out the names of different subjects. Then, the teacher will present some adjectives to describe these subjects. The teacher speaks Chinese, ss translate Chinese into English. Then, ss talk about their favourite subjects and reasons. (3) Finish 1a. Match the school subjects in the box with the pictures. Some subjects are extra. Look at picture A, we have IT classes in school. Step 3. While-listening To be a reporter, you should have news sensitivity. (1) Listen to three conversations. Tick the subjects Ella and Peter talk about. (2) Listen again and circle the coloured words you hear. The teacher will let ss pay attention to subjects and adjectives. (3) Listen and fill in the blanks.
