SET THEME: l Am in Control of Myself
"We have a new car on the playground," said Miss Jan. "You pedal it with your feet."
"I call the first ride!" I said.
The car was hard to pedal.
"Hey, Jack," I said, "give me a push!"
"Good one, Ken," said Jack. "My turn now!"
"No, it's still my turn," I said.
"That's not fair!" Jack complained.
"Anyo," I said, "give me a push!"
"Okay," said Anya, "but I get the car next."
"I'm supposed to be next!" said Jack.
"Well, I had it first," I said.
"Eddie, give me a push."
"This is not fair!" yelled Jack.
"I'm telling Miss Jan."
Eddie gave me a push. Then I went all the way around the playground by myself.
Miss Jan came over.
"Ken, you are not being fair," she said.
"What do you think you should do?" asked Miss Jan.
"Take turns?" I said.
"Yes," Miss Jan said.
"Now let the others have a chance."
Jack took his turn, then Anya, then Eddie. I gave them each a push.
Finally it was my turn again!
Real-World Wrap-Up
My Thoughts:
Are these children taking turns?
How can you tell?
My Feelings:
How do you feel when someone gives you a turn?
I Take Tums
