How can we let our phones bring people closer together instead of driving people further away? Think and share Think and share e.g: Talk to your friends face-to-face and set time limit for phone use when you meet in parties or play sports together. Put your phones out of touching distance./ Hide your phone in drawers so that you can’t be bothered to use it. Reduce post frequency./ Stop posting. Delete unnecessary social networking apps. Try to make friends in your real life. Talk to family members in dinner or holiday get-together. Redefine table manners at home and impose a fine if possible. Your phone use can be supervised by your parents until you can use your phone wisely. What does the title “SO CLOSE, YET SO FAR” tell us? With the Internet and social networks, it is more convenient for us to contact each other at any time and any place. However, if we are addicted to social networking, we will ignore the beloved in our real life, such as our family, friends, and we end up feeling more lonely than ever. Think & Share Work in groups of 4. Choose a role & complete the task independently. Share your work with the other members of your group before sharing in class. Think of two open-ended questions and write down your own answers to them. Ask your group members the same two questions and invite them to answer them before giving them your answers. Ask your group if they have any other questions to add. Allow each member to share their own work with the group. Make sure that each person is well-prepared for a class presentation.
