Ⅳ.阅读理解
(2024·烟台市级期末)You might think that students at Reach Cambridge were
boring teenagers, but they were not! Everyone showed his or her talent in the talent
show last week. They were all excellent and all of us spent one of the best evenings at
the summer camp.
The opening show was the best of all that night. Victor dressed up as a monkey
and danced to a song. It was interesting, and everybody couldn’t stop laughing. We
would all remember this, because it was so wonderful. The teachers sang a song as
the second show. They were always serious, but when they were on the stage, they
were stars.

Later, the Canadian boys came up and played the piano and sang. They were all
great. Matt in the group sang one of the best songs, and he became the most
handsome boy at the summer camp. After that, other strange shows came up: a girl
twisted(扭曲) her arms all around her body, and another one tried to sing a song
from a little mermaid(美人鱼). People thought for at least 5 minutes if they should
laugh or not. Last was the most surprising show—Dina showed her wonderful voice
and it made everybody cry.
In a word, the talent show was wonderful. I thought no one would forget what
happened that night.

So how did cooking start to rise and become so popular with kids?
In the old days, people thought of cooking as a boring chore(杂务), just like
doing the dishes and cleaning the house. Only people who wanted to be wonderful
chefs were interested in cooking.
But things became different little by little. Cooking shows became popular in
America at the beginning of the 21st century. Many kids watched these shows with
their family. Some kids became stars on the shows. At the same time, online
cookbooks and cooking videos made it easy to learn how to cook. At last, more and
more kid chefs were born.
