Summer is always the best time to play in the water. Swimming, sailing and a
lot of other water games are waiting for you. But drowning is a real danger. Once it
happens, it will lead to death. So while having fun, you must learn to protect
yourself. Always remember “safety first”!
To help you have an enjoyable holiday, we will invite Brian and David to give
you a talk. They are excellent policemen and they will give you advice on summer
activities and tell you how to save yourselves and help others when an accident
happens.

A Minnesota man lost his life when he visited a national park in California. A big

I want to tell you a story about the accident of a person who is important to me. It
was a sunny Saturday in July. My parents told me that my brother had a car accident. I
was shocked, and didn’t know what to do. It seemed that my whole world was
ending. The only words that came out of my mouth were, “Is he all right?” but I
didn’t get any response. He was badly hurt. He was in a coma for three months. My
parents and I were very worried about him. He was lucky. In the end, he won, and
he came back to life.
Soon, we found that the coma had hurt part of his head. For a long time, he
couldn’t remember who he was, what he was doing or where he was going.

When he got better, we learned that he was reading a message on his mobile
phone while he was driving. My parents were angry at him, because they had told
him many times it was dangerous to use a mobile phone while driving. But he didn’t
listen to them, so he had this accident.
The experience helped me know the importance of safety. We should listen to
people’s suggestions and keep safe when we are driving or doing other things.

Number One is a sign with the number forty on it. When drivers see this sign,
they must not go at more than forty kilometres one hour. We see this sign when we are
getting near a town. Number Two is a sign that we are near a crossing. We must drive
carefully. Number Three is a sign that there is a bend(弯道) on the road. Again,
we must drive slowly and carefully. It is not safe to go round a bend very fast. Number
Four is a sign that there is another road coming in from the right. There is a junction

“P” means “Parking”. At some places, there are signs like “NO PARKING”
or “NO WAITING”. If a driver leaves his car near one of these signs, a policeman

I am Daisy Jones. At about 8:30 this morning, I was walking on Ocean Road
when a boy on a bike passed me quickly. The road was empty at that time, so the boy
kept riding in the middle.
Suddenly, a car appeared. It passed me, then followed the boy for a while. It
tried to pass the boy several times but failed. The driver began to sound the horn
(笛). However, it seemed that the boy didn’t hear it. He was probably listening to
music with earplugs(耳塞)!That was terrible.

window.
The car was quite old. And its number plate(车牌) was so dirty that I couldn’t
see it clearly. The driver was a man with long hair. He wasn’t old but I couldn’t guess
his age. I ran to the boy and found he was badly hurt. So I called the police at once.
They soon arrived. The boy was sent to hospital in time. I told a police officer what I
had seen. He asked me to make a statement(录口供) at the police station.
