Mike finds that fast food is unhealthy. We are all glad that he tries to live a healthy life. Come on, Mike is sharing how he will do that.
From tomorrow on, I will build good eating habits. Fruits, vegetables and beef are good for me. Like what I said at the beginning, I will try to eat them. Fast food is my favorite. We shouldn’t eat a lot, and of course not eat too little. Perhaps I will have the fast food as a special treat. I may enjoy it after hard study, during an exciting game and outdoor activities. What I need to do is just to follow my heart.
Well, I’m going to exercise. I mean I will try to get up early, then go for a run or go to the gym in the morning every day. But if I can’t do them, it will bring me lots of stress. For example, smoking too much is bad for the body. If you force yourself to stop smoking, you will feel you are mad. Then you become weak and lose interest in anything. It is stress. A lot of people play sports, but very few people become sports professionals (专家). If sports aren’t going to be your future, then why should you play them? Why should you train (训练) every day? Why should you work hard and feel sore (酸痛的) the next day? Wouldn’t it be better to forget sports and only pay attention to your lessons? In fact, there are a lot of reasons to play sports.
First of all, sports are a great way to exercise. Exercise keeps you healthy and strong. It also helps you stay in a good condition. When you exercise, your body makes endorphins (安多芬) which give you more energy and make you feel happier.
Also, sports teach young people how to communicate and work as a team (团队). They teach young people to respect (尊重) their coaches, teammates and players from the other team. Many reporters say that sports help young people stay out of trouble. If a young person plays sports, he or she may have fewer problems. This is because sports teach people about rules. They also teach people that if they work hard, they might succeed.
Another good way of sports is that they make people leave their houses. These days, a lot of people spend too much time watching television and playing video games. When you play sports, you go outside and exercise in the sun. You take in fresh air. All of these things are important.
Maybe you’re not going to become a sports professional, but that doesn’t matter. Sports will help you become a better and happier person.

Young people these days have to take part in more and more after-school classes. They are much busier than they have ever been before. How much is too much? Should there be a limit (限定) to the number of after-school classes that a young person takes part in? Personally, I think there should be a limit. I am an overtired and worried parent of three. We’re always working to cut out as many unnecessary after-school activities as we can. There are many reasons for my worry.
One of the reasons is that we just don’t have enough time as a family. We often sat around the table and discussed something at the dinner table in the past. We are lucky now if we even get dinner, let alone eat it as a family.
Another reason for the worry is that my kids’ grades are falling. These kids who used to be “A” and “B” students are now trying very hard to keep a “C” in most classes. There just isn’t enough time for homework. School education should be the most important—not the after-school classes.
The final reason I feel worried is that we are all so tired. Everyone is running three different places to take different classes. The kids are so tired that they are even falling asleep in class. Kids need time to rest, play, imagine, and create (创造). After-school classes claim (声称) to create well-round kids, but as a result, they actually take away the happiness and free time of the kids.

A.Three. B.Four. C.Five. D.Six.

A.have no time to play B.fall asleep in the class
C.not get good grades D.have a dinner alone

A.happiness and free time B.after-school classes
C.well-round kids D.three different places
108.The purpose (目的) of this passage is to ________.
A.encourage kids to take part in more after-school classes
B.explain why more and more kids need after-school classes
C.show people’s different opinions about after-school classes
D.show it’s necessary to control the number of after-school classes

Many people enjoy watching movies in a cinema. They think the cinema has a better atmosphere (气氛) to enjoy the movie. However, I think people are happier and freer when watching movies at home.

Watching movies at home is more comfortable. To watch movies in a cinema, you have to buy the ticket before you go there for a better seat. However, there is no need for people at home to worry about the ticket.

Many people might think that if they had more money, then they would be happier in life. For example, people might look at what others have, like expensive clothes or nice cars, and wish they could have the same. But the things that money can buy cannot bring happiness to a person for a long time.
But is that really true? Studies have found that money can, in fact, make people happier. But it’s not having money that brings happiness. Instead, it’s giving money to others that makes people happy. It could be buying a gift for a friend or a family member. It could be buying a homeless person food to eat. It could be giving money to a person in need. Just think about the last time you used your own money to do something for someone else. How did you feel? Whether it is a small large amount of money, people feel happier when they give. This is because making someone else happy makes the giver happy, too.
This idea of connecting (关联) your happiness to the happiness of others is called “ubuntu” in an African language. There is even a story about a man visiting Africa. He asked some children to race to a nearby tree. The first child to touch the tree would get a sweet treat. Surprisingly, all the children held hands and ran together. They all touched the tree at the same time. The man asked why they did this. The children simply said they could only enjoy eating the treat if everyone had one.

A.The trees. B.The sweets. C.The children. D.The others.

B.The key to happiness is to make others happy.
C.If you want to be happy, you can visit Africa.
D.People who have a lot of money might not be happy.

105.How many reasons that we cut out unnecessary after-school activities are mentioned (提及) in the passage?
A.Three. B.Four. C.Five. D.Six.
106.According to Paragraph 3, having too many after-school activities makes the writer’s kids ________.
A.have no time to play B.fall asleep in the class C.not get good grades D.have a dinner alone
107.The underlined word “they” in Paragraph 4 means ________.
A.happiness and free time B.after-school classes C.well-round kids D.three different places
108.The purpose (目的) of this passage is to ________.
A.encourage kids to take part in more after-school classes
B.explain why more and more kids need after-school classes
C.show people’s different opinions about after-school classes
D.show it’s necessary to control the number of after-school classes

107.词句猜测题。根据“After-school classes claim (声称) to create well-round kids”及转折连词but可知,课外辅导班剥夺了孩子们的快乐和空闲时间,所以they指代的是“After-school classes”,故选B。

Many people enjoy watching movies in a cinema. They think the cinema has a better atmosphere (气氛) to enjoy the movie. However, I think people are happier and freer when watching movies at home.
①
Watching movies at home is more comfortable. To watch movies in a cinema, you have to buy the ticket before you go there for a better seat. However, there is no need for people at home to worry about the ticket.

They can enjoy movies at any time they like and with the most comfortable seat. What’s more, people watching movies at home wouldn’t have to face any traffic problem.

Joys of reading and listening
①When you go to the park, you might notice many older people listening to audiobooks (有声读物) instead of reading paper books. Audiobooks have become quite popular these days. Why are more and more people choosing audiobooks over traditional books? Is listening to an audiobook just as good as reading a book?
②Reading needs us to focus (集中) all our attention on the words in a book. And we also need to find time and a place to sit down and read. However, You can listen to audiobooks anytime and anywhere you like, and it gives your eyes a break, too.
③But the big question is, do we get knowledge from audiobooks as well as we do from paper books? Researchers did an experiment to find the answer. People in group one were asked to listen to an audiobook while volunteers in group two read a book of the same content (内容). It turned out that they recalled the same number of information, whether they listened to it or read it.
④Another study published in the Journal of Neuroscience further supported the result above. In a study, researchers scanned people’s brains when they listened to and read books. The result showed that listening to audiobooks activates (激活) almost the same parts of the brain as reading does.
⑤However, some people still believe that they learn better from reading paper books. One reason might be that when we listen to audiobooks, we are often multitaking (处理多个任务). “If you are trying to learn while doing two things, you’re not going to learn as well,” Daniel Willingham, a professor of psychology at the University of Virginia, told the New York Times.

121.Why do some people think paper books help them learn better than audiobooks?
A.Because they can listen to audiobooks later. B.Because people need to stay focused while reading.

122.Which of the following shows the structure (结构) of the passage?

When you go to the park, you might notice many older people listening to audiobooks (有声书). Audiobooks have become quite popular these days. Why are more and more people choosing audiobooks over paper books? Is listening to an audiobook just as beneficial (有益的) as reading a book?
Reading needs us to focus (集中) all our attention on the words in a book, and we also need to find time and a place to sit down and read. However, you can listen to audiobooks any time and any place you like, and it gives your eyes a break, too.
But the big question is, do we get knowledge from audiobooks as effectively (有效地) as we do from paper books? Researchers did a study to find the answer. Volunteers (志愿者) in Group One were asked to listen to an audiobook while volunteers in Group Two read a book of the same content (内容). It turned out that they recalled the same amount of information, whether they listened to it or read it.
Another study published in the Journal of Neuroscience further supported (支持) the result above. In the study, researchers scanned people’s brains when they listened to and read books, and they learned how their brains worked. The result showed that listening to audiobooks activates (激活) almost the same parts of the brain as reading does.
However, some people still believe that they learn better from reading paper books. One reason might be that when we listen to audiobooks, we are often multitasking (处理多个任务). “If you’re trying to learn while doing two things, you’re not going to learn as well,” Daniel Willingham, a professor of psychology at the University of Virginia, told The New York Times.
