Step I 学习理解
活动一:感知与注意
Share the sentences that picked up from the blog entries with students. Then ask students to read the sentences aloud and translate them. Have students pay attention to the underlined words and phrases.
①It takes me only a few minutes to walk to school down a dusty track covered in weeds.
②When I reach the school grounds, I'm greeted by a chorus of "good morning”from the boys.
③There's no electricity, running water or even textbooks, not to mention laptops,tablets, or other modern devices!
④Another teacher and I walked for two and a half hours to get there-first, up a mountain from where we had fantastic views, and then down a shaded path to the valley below.
⑤My muscles were aching and my knees shaking as we dragged ourselves down the mountain towards home.
⑥It was such a privilege to have spent a day with Tombe's family.

Ask students to analyse the new words and phrases appeared in the above sentences.

1. Ask students to complete the word puzzle with words from the blog entries. Then have them find the hidden message.(Activity 1)
2.Xu Yuan is a volunteer in Ghana. What does she think of the country and experience?Ask students to complete the passage with the words.(Activity 2)
Suggested answers:

While living in Ghana is not that bad, she thinks that this is a good chance to drag
