Unit2 Learning About Language (1) 课时内容 Build up your vocabulary 主题语境:人与自然 主题群:自然生态 子主题:标志性风物 语篇类型:习题、介绍性说明文 文本分析:本部分为词汇学习课,为巩固和拓展学习本单元已经出现的重点词汇而设计,共分为三个活动:活动1通过英文释义让学生理解、巩固部分词汇;活动2通过四个句子中所含的同形(同音)异义词(homonyms)拓展学生对词义和词性的认识;活动3介绍了泰国具有代表性的旅游资源和活动,引导学生通过新语境,迁移运用重点词汇。 课时目标 学完本课后,学生能够: 1.运用同音异义词或同形异义词拓展对于词性和词义的认识和理解,从而积累词汇。 2.准确使用话题词汇介绍一个国家的代表性风物。 重点难点 重点 1.归纳、总结同音异义词或同形异义词的特征,积累词汇。 2.在语境中正确判断同形异义词。 难点 运用单元话题词汇介绍泰国的标志性风物。 教学准备 教师准备:与目标词汇相关的练习及同形(同音)异义词的相关练习。 学生准备:预习同形(同音)异义词;利用网络搜索泰国的标志性风物介绍。 精彩课堂 Step I 学习理解 活动一:感知与注意 1. Ask students to review the vocabulary according to the mind map. 2. Ask students to read the sentences and choose the proper meaning for each underlined word. ①During the summer, we have a barbecue on weekends. ②The equator divides the earth into the northern and southern hemispheres. ③The school has served the local community since its foundation in 1902. ④We had trouble finding duck, so we asked the butcher if he could order us some. ⑤Various herbs were used to make the meat taste better. (2) political divisions 政治分歧 英译汉。 Global climate change is not only an environmental question, but also energy,economic and political issue. Ask students to read an advertisement on Thailand's iconic attractions and fill in the blanks using the correct forms of the words in brackets.(Activity 3) Suggested answers: stretch; including; complicated; wrestle; icon; endangered; amazing 2. Ask students to read the passage again and think about the following questions. ·What type of writing is it and what does it talk about? ·What kind of iconic attractions can you find in this passage? ·What is the writing purpose of this passage? How do you know that? ·Does this advertisement attract you? What iconic attraction attracts you most and why? ·What does the last sentence in the passage make you think about? ·What can we do to make our iconic attractions popular and at the same time well-protected? Suggested answers: ·It is an advertisement, which talks about Thailand as a premier holiday destination,attracting tourists from all over the world with its various provinces, amazing selection of islands, and other attractions. ·In this passage, I can find iconic attractions such as long sandy beaches, clear blue water, and beautiful elephants, which are the national animal and a proud symbol of Thailand. ·The writing purpose of this passage is to promote tourism in Thailand by highlighting its various attractions and encouraging readers to visit. This is evident from the descriptive language used to paint a picture of Thailand's beauty and the mention of activities that tourists can enjoy. ·Yes, this advertisement does attract me. The iconic attraction that attracts me most is the beautiful elephants in Chiang Mai. I find them fascinating creatures,and the fact that they are well-protected in special parks makes me want to see them in their natural habitat. ·The last sentence in the passage makes me think about the importance of preserving and protecting our natural world and its inhabitants. It reminds me that as tourists, we have responsibility for respecting and caring for the places we visit and the creatures we encounter. ·To make our iconic attractions popular and well-protected at the same time, we can take several measures. Firstly, we can increase awareness of and education about the importance of preserving these attractions. Secondly, we can implement sustainable tourism practices that prioritise the protection of natural resources and cultural heritage.
