Some people think only school children do not agree with their parents, however, it is not true.
Communication (交流) is a problem for parents and children of all ages. If it’s hard for you to communicate with your parents, don’t worry about it. Here are some advice for you to bridge the generation gap (消除代沟).
Don’t argue (争辩) with your parents. Don’t get to your parents when you are angry. Your parents probably won’t consider your ideas if you are shouting at them. If you don’t think you can speak to them at the moment, try writing a letter.

Talk about your values. The values of your parents are probably different from those of your own. Tell your parents what you care about, and why. Understanding your values might help them see your purposes in life.

“Have you checked the oil in the car?”my father used to say to me. “Hello, hope you are well.” Sometimes our phone calls would begin with a question about the oil, without a lot in between.
Fathers have a lot of love to give, but it’s often supplied through the way of practical advice. In my experience, it’s mostly about my car.

At the time we thought his speech was pretty funny and would chant “car and horse, car and horse” every time I drove faster and passed other speeding cars.

A Letter to My Parents
Dear Mum and Dad,
I’m writing to express my thanks for all your care and love. All these years, you have done so much for me. Almost every day, Mum cooks delicious food for me and Dad takes me to school. When I’m sick, you look after me carefully and patiently. Both of you always trust me and care a lot about my school life and personal feelings.
I still remember it was a summer vacation in Grade 6 when I felt painful in my left foot and found that there was a large black area on the surface of my foot. It was bitten by a bug. Without saying anything, my mother sucked out the poison with her mouth. My father sent me to the hospital as quickly as possible. At that moment, I felt a strong feeling of happiness rising from the bottom of my heart. Thanks to my parents, it took a few days for my foot to fully recover.
Thanks again for everything you have done for me.
Love from
