I spent most of my last summer holiday in California on the beach. However, one day I tried
something different-to go on a day trip to Rankin Ranch(牧场).Rankin Ranch has been a
family business since 1863,and the family makes money from both the animals and the guest house.
I fell in love with the place as soon as I arrived. The people working there walk around in jeans and cowboy hats-not as part of a tourist show, because that's the most proper way to dress for the work they do. The first thing I did when I got there was to eat lunch. You won't be surprised to hear that there is one thing on the menu:steak .To be honest, every steak I've eaten since then has been a bit disappointing. You'd think an afternoon and evening on a ranch wouldn't offer much, but the short visit was filled with activities. The first thing after lunch was a riding tour of the ranch. The horses are well-trained and perfect for beginners.Later, I learned how to tie and throw a lasso(套素).And finally I learned to build a campfire.I can't say I was very good at either of those things, but it was fun giving them a try!By the end of the day,I was tired but happy. If I go to Califoria again,I'm going to pay a visit to Rankin Ranch again. It's better than any beach!
( )19.Why do the workers on the ranch wear jeans and cowboy hats?
A.To join in a show. B.To look handsome.

e.Someone taught the writer to tie and throw a lasso.
A.c-a-e-b-d B.d-c-a-e-b C.c-e-a-d-b D.d-a-c-b-e
( )22.Which word may the writer use to describe his trip to the ranch?
A.Terrible. B.Boring. C.Enjoyable. D.Expensive.

Disney theme parks can be found around the world. The first park was built in Anaheim, California in the USA.At first,Walt Disney wanted to call it Mickey Mouse Park. But later it was called Disneyland.
The building of the first Disneyland began on July 16,1954,and it opened on July 17,1955. Unluckily, the opening day faced several challenges. The park wasn't completely finished.Three areas of the park had to be closed for safety reasons just a few hours after opening. However it quickly became popular.Within seven weeks, one million people had visited the park.By 1956, five million people had visited the park.
▲ To start with,it was the first theme park of its kind. It's a place for both adults and children to enjoy themselves. Many people have visited the park many times. Some families even have a tradition of visiting the park every year.
Another thing people love about Disneyland is all of the small details included in its environment.People feel like they're going into a different world when they're in the park. The rides, the buildings and everything else in it are carefully designed (to create a magical place where visitors can relax and have fun.
The characters are another thing that makes Disneyland special.Visitors can talk to the characters, take pictures with them, and even get their autographs(亲笔签名).This is a truly great
experience, especially for kids. For those who grew up watching Disney cartoons, movies, and TV shows,a visit to Disneyland also brings back wonderful memories.

friends? And what would you say is your favourite family memory? These questions have

What if I feel lonely?
Everybody feels lonely sometimes.Keep in mind that connections change-some become stronger, while others don't.Remember that there are always people that care about you. It's important to tell someone you trust about how you are feeling. They can help, whether you're looking to form new connections or repair a relationship that is important to you.
