Should teenagers be allowed to use mobile phones? Different people have different ideas.
Parents
“The great thing about kids, having their own mobile phones is that I can keep in touch with them while the worst thing about it is that some young people use them to send bad messages.” Most parents think in this way.
Schools
Mobile phones are allowed at school in the UK, but students are not allowed to use them in class and the phones must be turned off during lessons. School students can use their phones at break time and at lunchtime. However, some teachers think the other way. One language teacher said, “I find that phones can be pretty useful in class, for the educational purpose (目的) of course. For example, the students write a talk in French, record it on a phone, listen to the recording and try to correct mistakes or improve pronunciation. They love it!”
Students
The students also have something to say. Tam, a 14-year-old boy, told us, “My mom is afraid that I may lose my phone. She won't buy me the really cool phone that I want. I've got this old one that doesn't do much. It's not fair that everyone else has a smartphone, but I don't.”
( )59.What is most parents' idea about letting kids have mobile phones?
A.They don't think it can help with their kids' study.
B.They think it can bring convenience, but it also causes worries.
C.They think it can improve kids' communication skills.
D.They believe it can make their kids gain more knowledge.
( )60.Why does the language teacher use the example in the third paragraph?
A.To show why schools don't allow students to use phones.
B.To show what good things phones can bring to students' life.
C.To show how phones help students with language study.
D.To show when students can use out their phones.
( )61.What can we know about Tam?
A.He has lost two phones so far.
B.He doesn't like going to school.
C.He has a bad relationship with his mother.
D.He isn't pleased with his phone.
( )62.Why did the writer write the passage?
A.To encourage parents to buy phones for their children.
B.To show some different ideas about kids, having a phone.
C.To explain why parents should buy phones for their children.
D.To introduce a special school where phones are welcomed.

Dear Marjorie,
I'm having troubles at school. I find it difficult to work in the evenings and I can't concentrate on (全神贯注于) anything at the moment. I spend most of my time listening to records or watching TV instead of doing my homework. The other students in my class are much better than me. I have the following problems as well. I can't always take down the important things my teacher says, because I write too slowly. She has told me that I'm falling behind my classmates in my studies. I'm not good at writing and I usually hand in my homework late because I put off doing it until the last minute. So I often have to find different excuses to tell my teacher why I haven't done the work. I'm sure I'm not going to get through (通过) my final exams in January. I'm so far behind other students that I don't know how I can catch up with them. My teacher spent some time helping me with my homework, but she found so many mistakes, which made me even more depressed (沮丧的).
Your suggestions, please!
Yours,
George

D.Because he has too much homework to do.
( )65.What makes George feel worse?
A.He has fallen behind his classmates.
B.He won't pass the final exams.
C.He doesn't hand in his homework on time.
D.He made a lot of mistakes in his homework.
D
Dear Nancy's parents,
My daughter had a bullying (欺凌) problem a couple of years ago. It wasn't easy, but I ended it. When things are as serious as you describe, it is no time to be silent. These kids probably know each other from school, so take the rude text messages sent by the bully directly to the headmaster and show him. Describe to him how it is affecting your 13-year-old daughter. Tell him you will not stand it and you want him to put an end to it now.
Bullying is a dangerous and serious offense these days, and any good headmaster will take your charges seriously. He will probably address the issues with the parents. If they are crappy (糟糕的) parents, then they may do nothing to their child. You may have to repeat this process several times, but you need to keep a check on those text messages and don't allow your child to delete them.
Now it is the time to draw your child close and take care of her, because she needs it. My daughter did not like me being involved (参与的) either, but you are the only hope she has of solving this problem, so do it. Always be polite but straightforward. The headmaster and the parents must know you mean business.
If repeated meetings with the headmaster (and parents, if he allows it) does not solve the problem, then I would consider hiring a lawyer. That will send the message across loud and clear. When you are talking about financial loss, most parents will stand up and take notice and act to keep their kid under control!
Good luck — I wish you the best in this terrible situation.
Yours,
Rachel

B.Ask the parents of the bully for payment.
C.Put your child under care.

( )69.What is the author's purpose in writing the letter?
A.To offer advice.
B.To describe a personal experience.
C.To seek help.
D.To ask for advice.

As the youngest kid in the family, Joe didn't have to do as much housework as his sisters did. He was only asked to make his bed and do the dishes. After his housework was done, Joe was allowed to play with his friend Timmy, but they could only play in the yard.
One day, when Timmy and Joe were playing with a ball, the ball rolled (滚动) out of the yard and went across the street. Joe wanted to get the ball back before anyone saw him. Just as he was about to run into the street, he heard a screech (刺耳的声音). A big white car almost hit him.
Mum rushed out nervously after hearing the sound. “Joe, get out of the street! Right now!” she shouted.

第二节 阅读下面短文,并用英语回答问题(请注意每小题的词数要求)。

There are some very important rules that you need to keep in mind when you use your computer at home or at school.
Don't give out personal information like your name, home address, school name, password or telephone number in a chat room.
Don't send a picture of yourself to your online “friends” without your parents' permission (允许).
Don't reply to messages that have bad words or seem scary. If you get such a message, show it to your parents or teachers to see if there is anything they can do to make it stop. Sending a reply just encourages the person. Don't meet anyone alone or let them visit you at home. If you do feel it is appropriate (合适) to meet someone, discuss it with your parents and never meet them alone.
Don't believe anyone you meet online. Remember that people online may not be who they say they are. Someone who says that “she is a 12-year-old girl” could really be an old man.
So remember these don'ts when you are online. They are for your own safety.

It was a Saturday night. My parents were watching TV in the living room. I wanted to join them. I ran so fast that I fell down the stairs and couldn't move my legs. My father called 120 at once. A quarter later, the doctors came and took me to the hospital. My left leg was broken and I had to stay in bed for a whole month. And even now, my left leg still hurts when it rains.

As a teenager, you're trying to know who you are. You're dealing with different kinds of stresses and trying to succeed in school. You're trying to manage your feelings better. Here are a few skills for you to control your feelings.
At first, name the feelings. What feelings are you experiencing? For example, are you sad, stressed, angry, joyful or excited?
Next, accept how you're feeling. Many people worry that their bad feelings will get worse. So they are not ready to accept them, hoping that they'll just go away. However, that's impossible.
Remind yourself that it's OK to have your feelings.
Finally, express your feelings. You can express your feelings by crying, exercising, writing about them or talking to someone you trust. Just be sure that whatever activity you choose, it doesn't hurt you or anyone else.

One Possible Version:
Hi, Tiantian. Let me tell you what I think of the three school rules. I think it's necessary for us to wear school uniforms at school. If so, we don't have to spend time choosing what to wear. That will save us a lot of time. We're not allowed to take mobile phones to school, either. I hate that rule. We can call our parents or friends easily if we have our own phones. When we meet new English words, we can also use our mobile phones to look them up after class. I think we should be allowed to bring them to school as long as we promise not to use them in class. We just use them to keep in touch with our parents and friends, and use them for our study. As for the third rule, I think it's strange and unfair to girls. I can't stand it, either.
