猜想02阅读七选五常考必刷10篇 1.江苏省南京市六校联合体2022-2023学年高二下学期6月期末 Translation is an essential tool for effective communication. A common way of getting any translation done is to turn to human translators. However, machine translators have developed rapidly in recent years. Many people claim that they will replace human translators soon. 1 Machines may fail to understand culture properly. Different cultures have different words that are unique to that specific culture. Machines cannot understand or recognize idioms, slang, and allusions (典故). 2 By contrast, human translators can find the suitable equivalent (对应物) in the target language based on the cultural background. 3 In different languages, there are words with various meanings, which can be a significant problem for machine translators. These words have to be placed in context to determine their true meanings and in many cases only human translators can do this. If you run a document with this kind of words through a machine translator, it may lead to inaccurate translations. It is difficult to localize machines for different languages. New phrases are being developed in almost all languages. 4 If you feed new words into a machine translator, the machine might go “speechless” , trying to come up with the most appropriate way to translate the strange combination of words. Human translators, on the other hand, can pick up on the development in a language quickly. It’s difficult for machines to distinguish style and tone. Every written document has a different style and tone. A document can have poetic, funny or persuasive style and tone. Machine translators may lose the intended style and tone existing in the original document. 5 And such a translation can hardly resonate (引起共鸣) with the person who reads it. A.Machines can’t relate words to the context. B.Machines can’t remember words of all languages C.It doesn’t actually hold up for some reasons. D.Thus the result is a flat and soulless translation. E.Machine translators are unable to catch these changes in time. F.This is one challenge they may find very difficult to overcome. G.Machine translators are becoming more and more popular these days. 【答案】1.C 2.F 3.A 4.E 5.D 【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章主要说明了机器翻译无法取代人工的翻译的几点原因。 1.根据上文“Translation is an essential tool for effective communication. A common way of getting any translation done is to turn to human translators. However, machine translators have developed rapidly in recent years. Many people claim that they will replace human translators soon.(翻译是有效沟通的重要工具。完成任何翻译的一种常见方法是求助于人工翻译。然而,机器翻译近年来发展迅速。许多人声称他们很快就会取代人工翻译)”以及后文“Machines may fail to understand culture properly.(机器可能无法正确理解文化)”等列举了机器无法取代人工翻译的理由,可知,本句是在说明这种说法并不成立。故C选项“由于某些原因,这实际上并不成立”符合语境,故选C。 2.根据上文“Different cultures have different words that are unique to that specific culture. Machines cannot understand or recognize idioms, slang, and allusions 3.根据后文“In different languages, there are words with various meanings, which can be a significant problem for machine translators. These words have to be placed in context to determine their true meanings and in many cases only human translators can do this. If you run a document with this kind of words through a machine translator, it may lead to inaccurate translations.(在不同的语言中,有不同含义的单词,这对于机器翻译来说可能是一个重大问题。这些词必须放在上下文中才能确定它们的真正含义,在许多情况下只有人工翻译才能做到这一点。如果你通过机器翻译运行带有这类单词的文档,可能会导致翻译不准确)”可知,本段的主旨是机器无法联系上下文,A选项中context对应后文context。故A选项“机器不能把单词和上下文联系起来”符合语境,故选A。 4.根据上文“It is difficult to localize machines for different languages. New phrases are being developed in almost all languages.(为不同的语言本地化机器是很困难的。几乎所有的语言都在发展新的短语)”以及后文“If you feed new words into a machine translator, the machine might go “speechless” , trying to come up with the most appropriate way to translate the strange combination of words. Human translators, on the other hand, can pick up on the development in a language quickly.(如果你把新单词输入机器翻译,机器可能会“无语”,试图想出最合适的方法来翻译这些奇怪的单词组合。另一方面,人工翻译可以迅速了解语言的发展)”可知,后文的例子表明语言发展迅速,机器无法适应新的短语,导致翻译失败。故E选项“机器翻译无法及时捕捉到这些变化”符合语境,故选E。 5.根据上文“It’s difficult for machines to distinguish style and tone. Every written document has a different style and tone. A document can have poetic, funny or persuasive style and tone. Machine translators may lose the intended style and tone existing in the original document.(机器很难区分风格和语气。每一份书面文件都有不同的风格和语气。一份文件可以有诗意的、有趣的或有说服力的风格和语气。机器翻译可能会失去原文档中存在的预期风格和语气)”可知,本句与上文构成因果关系,指出机器翻译失去原文档中存在的预期风格和语气,结果导致文章平淡无味,故D选项“因此,翻译的结果是平淡无味的”符合语境,故选D。 2.湖南省名校联盟2022-2023年高二下学期期末 Here is a list of the best ways to learn a new language. Plan your journey with realistic goals. When starting a journey to learn a language, pacing yourself is important. 1 Instead, consider setting small and manageable goals that can be achieved more easily. Start with identifying your goal. 2 You don’t want to overwhelm (压垮) yourself with new information, and make unrealistic jumps from learning the letters to sentences. Slowly build from letters, to words, to sentences and take your time in each step. Learn commonly used words first and those relevant to you, and then slowly build from there. Make it a daily habit. Sometimes 24 hours can seem like not enough time in the day, but in order to achieve your new goal, you need to make a commitment. 3 It states that you do one small thing every day for half an hour and you will gradually improve. So, even if you’re really busy, set at least half an hour to sit down and study. Expose yourself to media. If you’re in the living room watching TV, switch to a channel in the language you want to learn. On the road commuting (通勤)? Listen to podcasts speaking that language or even a language learning podcast. 4 That’s why it’s a good idea to follow people tweeting in that language. Pick up new words in your own way. If there’s a show in the language you’re learning, watch it once with subtitles then once without. This way you can pick up new words. If there’s a song you like, print out the lyrics and translate it for fun. Do you enjoy cooking? 5 A.Start with the basics. B.We are always on social media. C.You need confidence in speaking. D.Try reading a recipe in that language. E.You cannot expect to be fluent instantly. F.We should quit our interaction with others. G.There’s a theory called “half hour theory”. 【答案】1.E 2.A 3.G 4.B 5.D 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了学习外语的几种方法。 1.上文的“Plan your journey with realistic goals. When starting a journey to learn a language, pacing yourself is important.(用现实的目标计划你的旅程。当开始学习一门语言的旅程时,调整自己的节奏是很重要的)”强调要调整自己的步调,下文的“Instead, consider setting small and manageable goals that can be achieved more easily. Start with identifying your goal.(相反,你可以考虑设定更容易实现的小的、可管理的目标。从确定你的目标开始)”说明要设定更容易实现的、可管理的小目标。所以选项要说一下子达到目标是不可能的。故E项“你不能指望一下子就能说流利”符合语境。故选E。 2.根据下文中“Slowly build from letters, to words, to sentences and take your time in each step. Learn commonly used words first and those relevant to you, and then slowly build from there.(慢慢地从字母,到单词,再到句子,每一步都要花时间。先学习常用词汇和与你相关的词汇,然后在此基础上慢慢积累)”可知,本段强调从基础开始。A选项“从基础开始”符合语境,故选A。 3.根据下文中“It states that you do one small thing every day for half an hour and you will gradually improve.(它表明你每天花半个小时做一件小事,你会逐渐提高)”可知,G项中的“half hour”与“for half an hour”呼应,“It”指代的是G项中的“theory”。G选项“有一种理论叫做‘半小时理论’”符合语境,故选G。 4.根据上文“Expose yourself to media. If you’re in the living room watching TV, switch to a channel in the language you want to learn. On the road commuting (通勤)? Listen to podcasts speaking that language or even a language learning podcast.(让自己接触媒体。如果你在客厅看电视,换一个你想学的语言的频道。在路上上下班?听说那门语言的播客,甚至是语言学习播客)”可知,本段主要提到了利用媒体进行学习,且本段中的“media”、“podcast”以及“tweeting”可知,B项中的“social media”与其意义一致。B选项“我们总是在社交媒体上”符合语境。故选B。 5.根据空前的“Do you enjoy cooking?(你喜欢烹饪吗?)”可知,上文提到了烹饪,本句为本段最后一句,故说明用烹饪促进语言的发展,D选项中recipe对应上文cooking。故D项“试着用那种语言读食谱。”符合语境。故选D。 3.(T8联考)八省八校2024届高三第一次学业质量评价 Have you ever caught a smell of something and been strongly reminded of a person or place? There seems to be a deep psychological link between smells and our memory. Some research even suggests that smells can influence our cognition(认知,感知). 1 Roja Dove, a perfumer, informed the BBC that when we are born, the olfactory bulb(嗅球),which is the area in our brain that processes smell, is empty, without pre-existing information or association. 2 When we smell an odour again, the original and unique memory comes flooding back because of the association acquired in our previous experience. Our awareness of smells is primarily unconscious. 3 But, low-level smells are still picked up because the scent receptors( 感受器) in our brain are so powerful that we unconsciously register them. In fact, various studies have found the olfactory bulb sends more neurons(神经元) to more areas of our brain than our hearing or vision. Research suggests that the power of smell can also affect how the brain performs. 4 Mark Moss at Northumbria University' s Psychology Department discovered that certain essential oils, such as peppermint, positively impact cognition, and rosemary s scent can enhance memory. He also studied lavender, which he says “tends to impair memory and slow reaction time". But research by others has shown it to be useful in reducing pre treatment anxiety in dental and medical situations. 5 The next time a familiar smell brings back a special memory. just remember that your nose is working wonders. A. Why do smells take us back? B. So, don't take your nose for granted. C. How is the sense of smell connected to your brain? D. Scents can revive memories that have been long forgotten. E. We are not actively aware of them unless they are extremely strong. F. This is especially true when it comes to the fragrance of essential oils. G. Therefore, our responses to smells are learnt and highly individualized. [文章大意]本文是一篇说明文。主题语境为人与自我。文章主要介绍了嗅觉如何影响我们的认知。 1.A [解析]第 . Does the happiness of parents play a role in shaping the overall happiness of their children? Scientific studies have shed light on the far reaching connection between parental happiness and the positive development of kids. It seems that parental happiness has an important influence on the emotional, social, and cognitive(认知的) development of children. 1 If they know their mental and emotional happiness has an impact on their children, perhaps it can motivate them to view it as part of being a good parent. 2 For example, they can join in activities that bring them joy and satisfaction. This could include hobbies, exercise, pursuing personal goals, or taking time for relaxation. When parents improve their own happiness, they can better support their children s happiness. Another great idea is sharing experiences and creating many memories together. The idea is twofold. 3 At the same time, the shared experiences and showing their children how happy they are to do something they love can be incredibly valuable as well. One of the main aspects of being happy parents is feeling comfortable, confident and able to be themselves, despite their new status and huge responsibility. Honestly, when parents prioritize their own happiness, it has positive effects on the overall happiness of the family. 4 When parents put their own happiness first, they become role models for their kids. They see the importance of self-care, pursuing passions and maintaining healthy relationships. 5 So, parents should accept their uniqueness, enjoying life! A. However, part of being responsible is being honest. B. They are passing on some major life skills and attitudes. C. They may lose a bit of their sense of self when caring for children. D. Parents can adopt practical ways to enhance their own happiness. E. A joyful and harmonious family environment benefits everyone involved. F. This can happen when parents prioritize their own happiness according to Inc. G. Firstly, the parents continue to be themselves and do something they love. 【答案】本文是一篇说明文。父母的快乐有作用于孩子的成长,所以要做快乐的父母。 1.F根据空 前“It seems that parental happiness has an important influence on the emotional, social, and cognitive(认知的) development of children.”可知,F项“当父母优先考虑他们自己的幸福时,这种情况就会发生”符合。 2.D根据空后 “For example, they can join in activities that bring them joy and satisfaction. This could include hobbies, exercise, pursuing personal goals, or taking time for relaxation.”可知,D项“父母可以采取实际的办法来提高自己的幸福感"符合。 3.G根据空 前"The idea is twofold. ”及空后“At the same time, the shared experiences and..”可知G项“首先,父母继续做自己, 做一些他们喜欢的事情”符合。 4.E根 据空前“Honestly, when parents prioritize their own happiness, it has positive effects on the overall happiness of the family. ”可知,E项“快乐和谐的家庭环境让每个家庭成员都受益”符合。 5.B根据空前“They see the importance of self-care, pursuing passions and maintaining healthy relationships.”可知,B项“他们正在给他们传递一- 些主要的生活技能和态度”符合。 5.湖北省宜荆荆随恩2023-2024学年高三上学期1月联考 Tickling (使发痒) is an important sign that someone or something is touching you. There are two types of tickle sensations. “Light” tickles are the kind you get when you feel an insect on you. It is your body’s early-warning system which alerts you to something touching your body. ____1____ Most mammals have evolved the ability to feel gentle tickles. For example, horses will flick up their tails when they feel flies tickling them. “Heavy” tickles happen when your family or friends tickle you, which make us laugh and feelgood. Other than humans, chimpanzees have been observed chasing and tickling to make each other laugh. ____2____ Laughter and play are good ways for animals to strengthen bonds with friends and family. ____3____ Every time you move, that movement is the result of an action plan sent to your muscles by your brain. This plan is in the form of electrical signals traveling from your brain along your nerves to your muscles. ____4____ It not only tells the correct muscles when and how to move, it also sends signals to the rest of your body to tell it what to expect once you have moved. Why can’t you tickle yourself? That is because you’re already expecting it. ____5____ When you try to tickle yourself, your brain not only sends instructions to the muscles that do the tickling, but also tells other muscles that a tickle is coming. Therefore, no matter how much you try, your brain is already one step ahead. But when someone else tickles you, you have no warning and so the feeling comes as a sudden and very ticklish surprise. A. A big part of what makes tickles ticklish is the element of surprise. B. This response helps you to avoid getting bitten or stung by insects. C. Your response to each type comes from the long history of human evolution. D. The part of your body that manages this complex job is called the motor system. E. To understand how tickling really works, we have to look inside the human body. F. And you might have seen dogs and cats scratching because of this kind of tickling. G. Scientists also discovered that rats make high-pitched noises, like laughter, when tickled. 【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章介绍了发痒的类型及成因。 【1题详解】 根据上文“It is your body’s early-warning system which alerts you to something touching your body. (这是你身体的早期预警系统,它会提醒你有东西接触你的身体)”可知,轻微发痒的作用是提醒你有东西接触你的身体,空格处承上启下,下文“Most mammals have evolved the ability to feel gentle tickles. For example, horses will flick up their tails when they feel flies tickling them.(大多数哺乳动物都进化出了感知轻微挠痒的能力。 【3题详解】 下文“Every time you move, that movement is the result of an action plan sent to your muscles by your brain. This plan is in the form of electrical signals traveling from your brain along your nerves to your muscles.(每次你移动,这个动作都是大脑向你的肌肉发送行动计划的结果。这个计划是以电信号的形式从你的大脑沿着神经传递到你的肌肉)”可知,此处描述了发痒在人身体中是如何工作的,E项“为了理解挠痒是如何起作用的,我们必须研究人体内部”引出下文,起到内容上的承接。故选E项。 【4题详解】 下文“It not only tells the correct muscles when and how to move, it also sends signals to the rest of your body to tell it what to expect once you have moved.(它不仅告诉正确的肌肉何时以及如何运动,它还向身体的其他部位发送信号,告诉它一旦你运动了会发生什么)”中的It指代的是D项“你身体中负责这项复杂工作的部分被称为运动系统”中的the motor system,起到内容上的承接,指出了运动系统是如何工作。故选D项。 【5题详解】 下文“But when someone else tickles you, you have no warning and so the feeling comes as a sudden and very ticklish surprise.(但是当别人挠你痒痒的时候,你没有任何警告,所以这种感觉就像一种突然的、非常痒的惊喜)”中的surprise和A项“让人挠痒痒的很大一部分原因是惊喜”中的surprise指代一致,解释了只有让别人挠痒痒才会有感觉的原因是人们会获得惊喜感。故选A项。 6.江苏省苏州市2022~2023学年高二下学期学业质量阳光指标调研卷 In life, we make many decisions that define who we truly are. It feels really good to live with integrity, once we master this quality, both our career and lives can develop better. What is the meaning of integrity? Integrity means living your life according to your own morals and ethics (道德标准). 1 Alongside that, you must also know what the purpose of your life is, and what you intend to do with your life. Here are some of the ways to develop and preserve integrity! Define Your Values Clearly The first step to developing your integrity is to define your values. Every person has a set of values that they live by. You must acknowledge them as you go further in life. 2 Analyze Each and Every Choice 3 Practicing integrity means making the right decision no matter what. Some seemingly right decisions that we make in life could be disastrous for some. Honesty and integrity aren’t something that you must practice when it is convenient for you. You must always be like that whatever the circumstances are. Apply Your Ethics In The World 4 We learn so many great things in childhood, some of which are habits that we follow for our whole life. Practicing integrity is just like that, you would just be practicing your everyday life but with more analysis. Having integrity also means more than being consistent. 5 We must not always do what comes naturally to us because it is our nature to shy away from difficulties. We must find the courage within ourselves to face all the difficulties in life, only then will we become successful. A.Sometimes we have to face the unavoidable. B.Always remember that your choices define you ultimately. C.Sometimes we need to decide what we want to achieve in life. D.There are circumstances when right and wrong are very apparent. E.To have integrity, you must clearly know what is right and wrong. F.Always find ways to apply your ethics and morals in everyday life. G.No matter what happens, you will never go against your core values. 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了一些发展和保持正直的方法。 1.根据后文“Alongside that, you must also know what the purpose of your life is, and what you intend to do with your life.(除此之外,你还必须知道你生活的目的是什么,你打算怎么处理生活。)”可知,此处强调,除了要知道什么是对,什么是错,还必须要知道生活的目的,即对设空处的补充。E选项“To have integrity, you must clearly know what is right and wrong.(要有诚信,你必须清楚地知道什么是对,什么是错。)”指出要有诚信,你必须清楚地知道什么是对,什么是错。后文中that指代“你必须清楚地知道什么是对,什么是错”的事实。故E选项中引起下文,符合语境。故选E。 2.根据本段段旨“Define Your Values Clearly(明确你的价值观)”以及前文“ You must acknowledge them as you go further in life. (当你在生活中走得更远时,你必须承认它们。)”可知,此处强调的是发展和保持诚信的重要方法是要明确自己的价值观。G选项“No matter what happens, you will never go against your core values.(无论发生什么,你都不会违背你的核心价值观。)”中的core values与前文呼应。故选G。 3.根据本段段旨“Analyze Each and Every Choice(分析每一个选择)”以及后文“Practicing integrity means making the right decision no matter what. Some seemingly right decisions that we make in life could be disastrous for some.(正直意味着无论如何都要做出正确的决定。我们在生活中做出的一些看似正确的决定对某些人来说可能是灾难性的。)”可知此处强调在某种情况下人们不一定能保持正义,但作者认为仍然要坚持自己的选择。B选项“Always remember that your choices define you ultimately.(永远记住,你的选择最终定义了你。)”引起下文,强调坚持自己的选择,同时也与段旨呼应。故选B。 4.根据本段段旨“Apply Your Ethics In The World(把你的道德观运用到世界上)”可知,本段主要讲述的是在生活中运用自己的道德观。F选项“Always find ways to apply your ethics and morals in everyday life.(总是想办法在日常生活中运用你的伦理道德。)”与段旨呼应。故选F。 5.根据前文“Having integrity also means more than being consistent.(正直也不仅仅意味着始终如一。)”以及后文“We must not always do what comes naturally to us because it is our nature to shy away from difficulties. (我们不能总是随遇而安,因为逃避困难是我们的天性。)”可知,我们不必永远随遇而安,因为畏难是人类的天性,故而可推测空中句应为我们需要敢于面对困难。A选项“Sometimes we have to face the unavoidable.(有时候我们不得不面对不可避免的事情。)”符合语境。故选A。 7.湖南省名校联考联合体2022-2023学年高二下学期期末 Gear guide—buying a backpack A quick glance through my outdoor trade directory reveals 49 companies that sell or make backpacks. If they all produce ten backpacks then we have a frightening number for the humble beginner to choose from. 1 The first and most vital consideration is your anticipated load. If you have short summer evening walks then a small backpack would be fine, but if your walks are day-long and year-round then your pack will need to be bigger. Mine typically contains packed lunch, waterproofs, clothing I’ve taken off during the day, a first aid kit and an emergency shelter. Sometimes in winter I add a sleeping bag and a torch. 2 My current backpack is a Crag-hopper AD30(30 litres)which is just big enough. Admittedly I do often lead walking parties in remote places so perhaps my added responsibilities cause me to carry more. Compare my list with yours to see if you need as much carrying space. 3 Choose a light pack, but make sure it can take the weight of what you are carrying and it can support the load comfortably on your back. Today you can get quite technically advanced backpacks: advanced fabrics, a variety of side pockets, internal frames, adjustable belts, and clever systems to keep your back cool. You also need to look inside. It may seem obvious, but you should choose a backpack that allows you easy access. 4 It’s also important to choose a backpack that fits the length of your back. Being six feet I need a long, thin one rather than a short, wider one. If I use the latter, I’ ll have a hip belt round my stomach! 5 Obviously you can’t see it when it’s on your back, but why buy something that won’t look good on you? After all, there’s no shortage of colors or designs to choose from. A.I need a backpack with a reasonable capacity. B.Undoubtedly we won’t ignore the look of the pack. C.A wide variety of functions are offered to customers. D.It is recommended that you consider weight and features. E.Some have narrow necks that make removing large items difficult. F.So consider your own needs before you set foot in an outdoor shop. G.A cool pack can provide an enjoyable and comfortable hiking trip for you. 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了如何选购一款适合自己的背包。 1.根据前文“A quick glance through my outdoor trade directory reveals 49 companies that sell or make backpacks. If they all produce ten backpacks then we have a frightening number for the humble beginner to choose from. (快速浏览我的户外贸易目录,发现有49家公司销售或制造背包。如果它们都生产10个背包,那么对于初学者来说,选择的数量是令人惊人的。)”可知,此处强调当面临数量众多的背包时,不知道如何选择,后文应该指出解决方案。F选项“So consider your own needs before you set foot in an outdoor shop.(所以,在你踏入户外商店之前,先考虑一下你自己的需求。)”与前文构成因果关系。故选F。 2.根据前文“Sometimes in winter I add a sleeping bag and a torch. (冬天的时候,我有时会加一个睡袋和一个手电筒。)”可知,此处指出作者常常带的物品,后文应该介绍作者目前所使用型号的背包足够大。A选项“I need a backpack with a reasonable capacity.(我需要一个容量适中的背包。)”讲述作者对背包容量的需求,承接前文。故选A。 3.根据后文“Choose a light pack, but make sure it can take the weight of what you are carrying and it can support the load comfortably on your back. (选择一个轻的背包,但要确保它能承受你所携带的东西的重量,并且它能舒适地支撑你的背部。)”可知,本段主要围绕的是选择轻型背包,并考虑背包材质、内饰、性能等展开。D选项“It is recommended that you consider weight and features.(建议您考虑重量和特征。)”概括本文内容。故选D。 4.根据前文“you should choose a backpack that allows you easy access. (你应该选择一个方便取用的背包。)”以及后文“It’s also important to choose a backpack that fits the length of your back. (选择一个适合你背部长度的背包也很重要。)”可知,此处指出选择合适自己的背包。E选项“Some have narrow necks that make removing large items difficult.(有些背包的脖口很窄,很难取出大的东西。)”引起下文,指出背包的脖口很小,很难伸手够到东西,承接前文提出的应该要选择适合自己背包。同时后文也提出了具体建议还要适合自己背部长度的背包,符合语境。故选E。 5.根据前文“but why buy something that won’t look good on you? (但是为什么要买一些不适合你的东西呢?)”可知,此处强调选择背包也要注意外观。B选项“Undoubtedly we won’t ignore the look of the pack.(毫无疑问,我们不会忽视背包的外观。)”符合语境。故选B。 8.湖北省高中名校联盟2023-2024学年高三上学期第二次联合测评 How to stop procrastinating (拖延) and make a start Procrastinating is as much about fear as it is about motivation. Perhaps you have avoided paying bill, outlining a proposal or asking someone out. ____1____ Fortunately, here are four tips to get you moving again. Little steps for big tasks. Most procrastinators tell themselves, “I’ll wait until I’m in the mood.” Let’s face it; you’re never going to feel like balancing your cheque-book or cleaning up the mess on your desk. These are boring, unpleasant tasks. ____2____ One way to do this is to break your job into steps that can be accomplished bit by bit. ____3____ Those who procrastinate often assume that successful people achieve their goals without frustration, self-doubt and failure. This is unrealistic. Highly productive people know that life is frustrating. They assume they’ll encounter obstacles; when they do, they persevere until they overcome them. Tune out negative thoughts. When you’re avoiding a task, it may be because you’re feeding yourself unrealistic, negative messages. ____4____ Once you change your negative thoughts, energy returns. Give yourself credit. ____5____ But if you never allow yourself to feel satisfied with your efforts, you’ll soon find it pointless to try. So, no matter how small the achievement is, give yourself credit. Then you can tackle your toughest task. However, if you are sure that there are good reasons why you avoid doing something, you may need to re-evaluate your goals. A. Never give up. B. Expect difficulties. C. Sometimes you simply have to get yourself going. D. We usually think of rewards as coming from the outside, E. By writing them down, you have a chance of ridding them. F. Be here now, and don’t worry about things you have to do in the future. G. Whatever the thing, putting it off often becomes a bigger problem than actually doing it. 【导语】本文是一篇说明文,文章主要介绍如何停止拖延症并开始采取行动。 【1题详解】 首段为总起段,功能为引入话题。由空前一句话“Procrastinating is as much about fear as it is about motivation. Perhaps you have avoided paying bill, outlining a proposal or asking someone out.(拖延与动机有关,也与恐惧有关。也许你们避免了付账单,也避免了提出建议或约人出去。)”可知,这里列举了有拖延症的人可能会出现的行为,而G项Whatever the thing, putting it off often becomes a bigger problem than actually doing it.(不管是什么事情,拖延往往会比实际做更大的问题。)符合语境,其 putting it off 与上文Procrastinating对应,且引出下文的解决方案,有承上启下作用。故选G项。 【2题详解】 根据本段的小标题“Little steps for big tasks (大事化小)”可知,本段的内容围绕把一个整体任务拆分为若干步骤来完成展开,由空前“Most procrastinators tell themselves, ‘I’ll wait until I’m in the mood.’ Let’s face it; you’re never going to feel like balancing your cheque-book or cleaning up the mess on your desk. These are boring, unpleasant tasks.(大多数拖延者告诉自己,“我会等到我有心情的时候。”让我们面对现实吧;你永远不会想平衡你的支票簿或收拾你桌子上的烂摊子。这些都是枯燥乏味的任务。)”可知,这里通过举例子的方式来告诉读者,“等有心情的时候再做”是不会实现的,因为这些都是很无聊的、不令人愉悦的任务,而C项Sometimes you simply have to get yourself going.(有时你只需要让自己做起来。)符合语境,有承上作用,且其中get yourself going与后文this对应,也有启下作用。故选C项。 【3题详解】 空格处为段落小标题。根据段落内容“Those who procrastinate often assume that successful people achieve their goals without frustration, self-doubt and failure. This is unrealistic. Highly productive people know that life is frustrating. They assume they’ll encounter obstacles; when they do, they persevere until they overcome them. 【4题详解】 根据本段的小标题“Tune out negative thoughts (排除消极的想法)”可知,本段的内容围绕避免负面思想对完成任务的干扰展开,第一句话“When you’re avoiding a task, it may be because you’re feeding yourself unrealistic, negative messages. (当你逃避一项任务时,可能是因为你在给自己灌输不切实际的负面信息。)”可知,这里分析了不切实际的负面信息可能是你拖延的原因,因此推知本空应该解决这一问题的办法,而E项By writing them down, you have a chance of ridding them. (把它们写下来,你就有机会摆脱它们。)符合语境,为处理负面思想的办法。故选E项。 【5题详解】 根据本段的小标题“Give yourself credit (表扬自己)”可知,本段的内容围绕进行自我肯定展开。本空为段首句,空后有转折连词“but”,故需要根据后面的内容进行反推。由空后句子“But if you never allow yourself to feel satisfied with your efforts, you’ll soon find it pointless to try. So, no matter how small the achievement is, give yourself credit. Then you can tackle your toughest task(但是,如果你从不让自己对自己的努力感到满意,你很快就会发现尝试毫无意义。所以,无论成就有多小,都要相信自己。然后你就可以完成最艰巨的任务)”可知,来自内在的肯定是对自己最大的奖励,所以D项We usually think of rewards as coming from the outside (我们通常认为奖励来自外部)符合语境,与后文构成转折关系。故选D项。 9.山东省德州市2022-2023学年高二下学期期末 Whether someone makes you angry, you’re upset with yourself, or you’re just having a bad day, one of the best ways to direct your angry energy is through exercise. 2.湖南省名校联盟2022-2023年高二下学期期末 Here is a list of the best ways to learn a new language. 【答案】1.E 2.A 3.G 4.B 5.D 3.(T8联考)八省八校2024届高三第一次学业质量评价 Have you ever caught a smell of something and been strongly reminded of a person or place? 4.九师联盟2024届高三第二次质检 Does the happiness of parents play a role in shaping the overall happiness of their children? G. 8.湖北省高中名校联盟2023-2024学年高三上学期第二次联合测评 How to stop procrastinating (拖延) and make a start Procrastinating is as much about fear as it is about motivation.
