A Antarctica Going to Antarctica, one of the remotest destinations on the planet, is not an easy (or affordable) endeavor. Perhaps the difficulty is part of the attraction—the seventh continent remains at the top of many travelers' wish lists. The striking white desert, with its dramatic, snowy peaks and vibrant turquoise water, as well as its exotic wildlife, including emperor penguins and Weddell seals, can truly offer a onceinalifetime experience. Hawaii Hawaii is underrated. To be sure, it is a gorgeous place with breathtaking sunrise and sunset, and every beach is seemingly prettier than the next, but its beauty goes much deeper than its preternatural appearance. Extraordinary beaches—some even boast green and black sand (Papakōlea Beach and Punalu‘u Beach, respectively)—have their expected appeal, but visitors who take time to venture out away from the coast quickly discover Hawaii’s charms are everywhere. Canada Skiing, surfing, hiking and the Northern Lights, eclectic cuisine, worldclass shopping, diverse and rich cultures—this is Canada. The 13 provinces and territories make up the world's secondlargest country by the total area. It has something wonderful for every type of traveler. Nature lovers take solace in mountains, glaciers, waterfalls and the Atlantic or Pacific coastlines while sophisticated eaters nosh at Michelinstarred restaurants and holeinthewall restaurants alike. Singapore Travelers don't want to spend any more time in an airport than they have to. But Singapore Changi Airport is not an ordinary airport. While the rest of the world was staying at home, Singaporean locals had paid to hang out at Changi Airport, whether it was coworking in one of the lounges or camping alongside the world's highest indoor waterfall, which opened in 2019. 1.Which place would you like to choose if you are an animal lover? A.Hawaii. B.Canada. C.Singapore. D.Antarctica. 2.What is special about Canada from the text? A.It is the second most beautiful place in the world. B.It can almost satisfy all kinds of travelers. C.It has some extraordinary beaches. D.It attracts many locals. 3.What can tourists do when they stay in Singapore Changi Airport? A.They can appreciate the world's highest indoor waterfall. B.They can experience Michelinstarred restaurants. C.They can decorate the lounges together. D.They can enjoy worldclass shopping. 根据第一段最后一句中的“as well as its exotic wildlife, including emperor penguins and Weddell seals(以及它奇异的野生动物,包括帝企鹅和威德尔氏海豹。)” 根据第三段中的“It has something wonderful for every type of traveler.” A项“它是世界上第二美丽的地方”与第三段中的“the world's secondlargest country by the total area”不符;根据第二段中“Extraordinary beaches”可知,夏威夷有海滩,所以C项与题意不符;D项“它吸引了许多当地人”为Singapore Changi Airport的特点。 根据最后一段中的“or camping alongside the world's highest indoor waterfall”可知,游客在樟宜机场可以欣赏世界上最高的室内瀑布。故选A。 B Fifteen years ago, I took a summer vacation in Lecce in southern Italy. After climbing up a hill for a panoramic(全景的) view of the blue sea, white buildings and green olive trees, I paused to catch my breath and then positioned myself well to take the best photo of this panorama. Unfortunately, just as I took out my camera, a woman approached from behind, and planted herself right in front of my view. Like me, this woman was here to stop, breathe a sigh of relief and appreciate the view. Patient as I was, after about 15 minutes, my camera scanning the sun and reviewing the shot I would eventually take, I grew frustrated. Was it too much to ask her to move so I could take just one picture of the landscape? Sure, I could have asked her, but something prevented me from doing so. She seemed so content with her observation. I didn't want to mess with that. Another 15 minutes passed and I grew bored. The woman was still there. I made a resolution to take the photo anyway. And now when I look at it, I think her presence in the photo is what makes the image interesting. The landscape, beautiful on its own, somehow comes to life and breathes because this woman is engaging with it. This photo, with the unique beauty that unfolded before me and that woman who “ruined” it, now hangs on a wall in my bedroom. What would she think if she knew that her figure is captured and frozen on some stranger's bedroom wall? A bedroom, after all, is very private space, in which some woman I don't even know has been immortalized(使…… In some ways, she lives in my house. Perhaps we all live in each other's space. Perhaps this is what photos are for: to remind us that we all appreciate beauty, and that we all share a common desire for pleasure, for connection, and for something that is greater than us. That photo is a reminder, a captured moment, an unspoken conversation between two women, separated only by a thin square of glass. 4.What happened when the author was about to take a photo? A.Her camera stopped working. B.A woman blocked her view. C.Someone asked her to leave. D.A friend approached from behind. 5.According to the author, what was the woman probably doing? A.Enjoying herself. B.Losing her patience. C.Waiting for the sunset. D.Thinking about her past. 6.In the author's opinion, what makes the photo so lively? A.The rich color of the landscape. B.The perfect position of the camera. C.The woman's existence in the photo. D.The soft sunlight that summer day. 7.The photo on the bedroom wall enables the author to better understand . A.the need to be close to nature B.the importance of private space C.the joy of the vacation in Italy D.the shared passion for beauty 根据第二段第一句“Unfortunately, just as I took out my camera, a woman approached from behind, and planted herself right in front of my view.” 根据第三段中的“She seemed so content with her observation.” 根据第四段最后两句“And now when I look at it, I think her presence in the photo is what makes the image interesting. The landscape, beautiful on its own, somehow comes to life and breathes because this woman is engaging with it.” 根据第六段第二句“Perhaps this is what photos are for: to remind us that we all appreciate beauty, and that we all share a common desire for pleasure, for connection, and for something that is greater than us.” As a child I once read an article about the Pacific Crest Trail(太平洋屋脊步道) in National Geographic. It was a 1 of two men who walked 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada with huge packs. It caught my eye,as I,too, 2 adventures in the wilderness.I've always remembered that story, but never did I believe I would actually 3 it.
