I’ve never been significantly overweight, so people are surprised to hear this. When you think of overeating, you think of someone who is above their natural weight range, right? Well, I used to purposefully undereat as well. I was able to keep my weight within some control, but only through a lot of physical and mental pain. Here’s a glimpse(一瞥)into my life as a first-year university student: Friday: Go to a party and eat a lot of chips. Feel guilty and regretful. Vow(发誓)to wake up and run an extra mile. Saturday: Run 6 miles, come home and only eat a tiny breakfast. Eat like a bird for the rest of the day. Feel proud of myself. Sunday: Study and snack on chocolate chips all day. Feel sick. Monday: Head to class with no snack and no money so that I can’t buy any food. Feel hungry but full of willpower. Go home and overeat at dinner. Feel out of control. My feelings were changing regularly. I was proud and in control one moment, and then full of regret and out of control the next. It was exhausting. As I studied nutrition and human anatomy(人体解剖学)in university, I started to learn just how amazing the human body is! The human body is an amazing, self-regulatory system. It knows exactly how much food it needs. When I learned this, my whole world changed. I stopped trying to manage my eating with willpower. Instead of trying to power through my hunger, I would provide my body with healthy foods, so I would feel hungry less often. This process definitely took some work and reflection, but after a while it became second nature. Eating has become a joyful experience, instead of a source of stress and worry in my life. All my eating is now guilt-free! I shamelessly eat unhealthy snacks without regret. Of course, the majority of my food intake does come from whole, healthy foods that are close to nature. 4. What can we know about the author’s weekly life as a freshman? A. Run extra mile on Friday. B. Only eat breakfast on Saturday. C. Eating nothing but chips on Sunday. D. Eat nothing with willpower on Monday. 5. What did the author do after studying nutrition and human anatomy? A. She exercised in order to lose weight. B. She began to listen to her body’s needs. C. She stopped eating unhealthy food. D. She started to go on a diet. 6. Which is the most suitable title to this passage? A. Have a balanced diet B. Control your weight C. Enjoy snacks without guilt D. Eating can be a pleasant thing 7. How does the author develop the text? A. By giving instructions. B By explaininga process. C. By discussing research findings. D. By sharing a personal experience. 4. C 5. B 6. D 7. The fruit must be picked when it is perfectly ripe. But with pickers in short supply in recent years. growers needed to quickly find another way to harvest their crops. Tevel Aerobotics Technologies came to the farmers’ rescue with the Flying Autonomous Robots (FARs) that can help pick fruit. “Not finding enough fruit pickers is every farmer’s biggest concern,” Yaniv Maor, Tevel’s founder and CEO said. Ask any farmer, anywhere in the world and they’ll tell you they don’t have the people. Food consumption is increasing, but labor availability(劳动力可用性) is decreasing. If pickers are not available. fruit will go bad on the trees. The flying robots will work day and night in almost any weather, without taking a break, to pick as much ripe fruit as possible. Maor set up Tevel in 2017 and developed the technology after seeing young Israelis pick fruit and get tired after a few hours. He realized that there had to be a better way, so he began developing the software and artificial intelligence (AI) that are needed for the smart robot pickers. “We have to teach the robots about the structure of each fruit how to access the fruit and how to rotate(转动) it and disconnect it from the tree,” Maor said. The flying robots circle round trees and pick only the ripe ones with a twist(扭动) of their integrated grasper arms. The robots are fitted with cameras that USC AI to assess the size and color of the fruit so that only the ripe ones are picked. The cameras also ensure that the robots’ paths are not blocked. The robots arc currently picking Asian pears in Israel. In 2022, the FARs were used in pilot programs in Italy to pick peaches and other fruits, as well as in the US. They are not a replacement for labor, instead, they are a solution for the inadequate human pickers. In the future fewer people will work in picking and more will work in managing the robots, analyzing the data and making decisions. 8. Why are the FARs developed? A. To meet the shortage of pickers to pick fruit. B. To improve the software and AI for smart robots. C. To help farmers keep the fruit in perfect condition. D. To relieve farmers from the tiredness of picking fruit. 9. What can we infer from paragraphs 2 and 3? A. Maor developed the FARs out of curiosity. B. The FARs can produce more fruit for food consumption. C. Labor shortage is an urgent problem in every country. D. The FARs can work without stop in almost any weather. 10. What does paragraph 4 mainly talk about? A. How the robots work. B. What the robots consist of. C. Why the robots are useful. D. Where the robots are used. 11. What is the author’s attitude towards the FARs? A. Doubtful. B. Positive. C. Worried. D. Unclear. A 9. D 10. A 11. 根据第一段中“But with pickers in short supply in recent years. growers needed to quickly find another way to harvest their crops. Tevel Aerobotics Technologies came to the farmers’ rescue with the Flying Autonomous Robots (FARs) that can help pick fruit.”(但近年来采摘机供不应求。 故选A项。 根据第二段中“The flying robots will work day and night in almost any weather, without taking a break, to pick as much ripe fruit as possible.”(这些飞行机器人将在几乎任何天气下不分昼夜地工作,不间断地采摘尽可能多的成熟水果。) 根据第四段“The flying robots circle round trees and pick only the ripe ones with a twist(扭动) of their integrated grasper arms. The robots are fitted with cameras that USC AI to assess the size and color of the fruit so that only the ripe ones are picked. The cameras also ensure that the robots’ paths are not blocked.”(飞行机器人绕着树转,用集成的抓取臂旋转,只采摘成熟的树。 故选A项。 根据最后一段中“They are not a replacement for labor, instead, they are a solution for the inadequate human pickers. In the future fewer people will work in picking and more will work in managing the robots, analyzing the data and making decisions.”(它们不是劳动力的替代品,相反,它们是人类采摘能力不足的解决方案。 D Life as an astronaut has various unique attractions. This can include experiencing weightlessness and looking back at Earth as a pale blue dot. Food is not among them. Space travelers over the years have become used to certain foods such as freeze-dried ice cream and liquid salt and pepper. Now, the menu is set to be augmented, with the first space-grown lettuce (生菜) found to be as safe, nutritious and fresh as the Earth-grown variety. Gioia Massa of NASA Kennedy Space Center is the lead scientist on the lettuce-growing project. She said that growing food in space could be wonderful for astronauts on missions lasting more than one month. “If you store packaged food for a long time, not only will the flavour and nutritional quality decrease, but the vitamins will degrade. After eating such food, astronauts’ intake of nutrition is not ensured,” she said. “Besides, for them, there may also be psychological benefits of growing and looking after plants. Lettuce has been grown in batches (分批) onboard the International Space Station (ISS). The vegetable production system is known as Veggie. It is composed of plant pillows (sealed units containing ceramic soil), LED lighting and a watering system that allows astronauts to inject water through a tube. The lettuce crops grow undisturbed for 33 to 56 days before being harvested and eaten, or deep-frozen and returned to Earth for chemical and biological analysis. The space-grown lettuces are similar in make-up to Earth-grown ones but they have higher levels of bacteria (细菌), possibly due to their growth in a warmer, more humid (潮湿的) and closed-air system. But they are not found to carry any harmful bacteria. NASA is now enlarging the range of produce grown onboard the ISS. It will be quite some time before any vegetables can be transformed into a dish, however. “While we have nowhere to cook up there now, we can look forward to more things that taste fresh,” Massa explained. 12. What does the underlined word “augmented” probably mean in Paragraph 1? A. Enlarged. B. Engaged. C. Reduced. D. Measured. 13. What do we know about growing space-grown lettuce? A. It’s flavor and nutritional quality decline. B. It is terrible for astronauts on missions. C. It can contribute to astronauts’ mental health. D. It will make sure the astronauts’ intake of nutrition. 14. What can we infer from the text? A. Lettuces will be grown in batches onboard. B. The vegetable production system consists of three parts. C. It will take at least 56 days to harvest the space-grown lettuce crop. D. Thanks to growing environment, the space-grown lettuces don’t contain any harmful bacteria. 15. What does Massa mainly intend to explain in the last paragraph? A. The difficulty in growing produce onboard. B. The necessity to enlarge the space onboard. C. The desire to enjoy cooked vegetables onboard. D. The expectation to enrich the variety of produce grown onboard. 【答案】12. A 13. C 14. B 15. D 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了如今宇航员在太空舱成功种植了生菜。这不仅能为宇航员提供营养,而且种植和照顾生菜也能促进宇航员的心理健康。 【12题详解】 词句猜测题。根据划线单词上文“Space travelers over the years have become used to certain foods such as freeze-dried ice cream and liquid salt and pepper.(多年来,宇航员已经习惯了某些食物,比如冻干冰淇淋、液体盐和胡椒)”可知,多年来,宇航员已经习惯了某些食物,结合划线单词下文“with the first space-grown lettuce (生菜)found to be as safe, nutritious and fresh as the Earth-grown variety.(第一个太空种植的生菜,人们发现这是安全的,营养和新鲜的地球种植品种)”可知,现在宇航员的菜单上有了新的食物——生菜。由此推知,划线单词augmented意为“增加”,与A项“Enlarged.(增大)”意思一样,故选A。 【13题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中““Besides, for them, there may also be psychological benefits of growing and looking after plants.(此外,对他们来说,种植和照顾植物可能也有心理上的好处)”可知,在太空种植生菜可以促进宇航员的心理健康。故选C。 【14题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中“The vegetable production system is known as Veggie. It is composed of plant pillows (sealed units containing ceramic soil), LED lighting and a watering system that allows astronauts to inject water through a tube.(菜生产系统被称为Veggie。它由植物枕头(包含陶土的密封单元)、 LED 照明和一个允许宇航员通过管子注水的浇水系统组成)”可推知,蔬菜生产系统由三部分组成。故选B。 【15题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中““While we have nowhere to cook up there now, we can look forward to more things that taste fresh,” Massa explained.(“虽然我们现在没有地方烹饪,我们可以期待更多味道新鲜的东西,”马萨解释说)”可推知,Massa在最后一段试图解释,他希望丰富太空舱种植的农产品品种。故选D。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 We all postpone sometimes. Statistics show that 90 percent of university students will often put off studying for a test or writing an important paper until the night before. ____16____ This serious form of postponement can result in a student dropping out of school. According to recent studies, there are three main reasons that students postpone. First, many have poor time-management skills and often try to do too much in too little time. In the end, these students often feel overwhelmed (应接不暇的) and will put off doing many things they need to. ____17____ These students will often avoid doing something because they don’t like it. A third reason is they are anxious about doing assignments (作业) well enough. ____18____ Do you recognize any of these signs in yourself? If so, you may want to do something about it. The following tips may be helpful. ●List things in life that are important to you. ●Choose realistic goals for yourself. ●____19____ ●Budget your time wisely. ●Take the time to reward yourself. If you believe that you are a chronic (长期的) postponer, you should try to get help before it is too late. ____20____ Be sure to keep yourself motivated, but don’t worry too much. Remember — we all postpone at times. A. Talk to a friend, and discuss the problem. B. Once you have set your goals, list them in the first place. C. Many people put off doing things that they need to until it’s too late. D. Another reason that students postpone is because they feel a subject is boring. E. Twenty-five percent of university students can be considered as chronic postponers. F. Another reason that students delay is because they have difficulty concentrating on an assignment. G. These students often worry that their work will never be as good as it should be and fear failure of any kind. 【答案】16. E 17. D 18. G 19. B 20. A 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了大学生普遍存在拖延的问题,而且部分学生拖延的问题很严重,并分析了该问题背后的原因,给出了相应的解决方法。 16题详解】 前文“Statistics show that 90 percent of university students will often put off studying for a test or writing an important paper until the night before. (这种严重的拖延会导致学生辍学。)”指出严重的拖延导致的后果,因此E项“Twenty-five percent of university students can be considered as chronic postponers. (25%的大学生可以被认为是长期拖延者。)”符合语境,进一步指出一部分大学生是长期拖延者,承前启后,后文的This serious form of postponement指的是“长期拖延”。故选E。 【17题详解】 前文“First, many have poor time-management skills and often try to do too much in too little time. In the end, these students often feel overwhelmed (应接不暇的) and will put off doing many things they need to. (首先,许多人的时间管理能力很差,经常试图在很少的时间内做太多的事情。最后,这些学生经常感到应接不暇,会推迟做很多他们需要做的事情。)”具体介绍学生拖延的第一个原因:糟糕的时间管理能力,后文“These students will often avoid doing something because they don’t like it. (这些学生通常会避免做一些事情,因为他们不喜欢。)”说明学生会因为不喜欢而避免做某些事,因此D项“Another reason that students postpone is because they feel a subject is boring. (学生拖延的另一个原因是他们觉得这门课很无聊。)”符合语境,指出学生拖延的第二个原因:觉得课程无聊,和前文是递进关系,引出后文,其中的boring和后文的they don’t like it呼应。故选D。 18题详解】 前文“A third reason is they are anxious about doing assignments (作业) well enough. (第三个原因是他们急于把作业做得足够好。)”指出学生拖延的第三个原因:过于想很好地完成作业,因此G项“These students often worry that their work will never be as good as it should be and fear failure of any kind. (这些学生经常担心他们的作业永远不会达到应有的水平,害怕任何形式的失败。)”符合语境,描述这类学生的问题,承接前文。故选G。 【19题详解】 前文“List things in life that are important to you. (列出生活中对你重要的事情。)”和“Choose realistic goals for yourself. (为自己选择现实的目标。)”建议根据自己所看重的事情而选择目标,后文“Budget your time wisely. (合理安排时间。)”给出安排时间的建议,因此B项“Once you have set your goals, list them in the first place. (一旦你设定了目标,就把它们列在第一位。)”符合语境,建议把目标安排在前面,承前启后,其中的goals在前文有同词复现。故选B。 【20题详解】 前文“If you believe that you are a chronic (长期的) postponer, you should try to get help before it is too late. (如果你认为你是一个长期拖延者,你应该在为时已晚之前寻求帮助。)”建议长期拖延者及早寻求帮助,因此A项“Talk to a friend, and discuss the problem. She moved here after her husband died. She had no children and no relatives that we knew of. She was gentle and kind, and Laurel and I considered her our special friend. One December, Mrs Mueller was ill in hospital. Laurel and I were busy making Christmas presents, and we pondered what to make for Mrs Mueller. We couldn’t bear seeing her come home before Christmas to an empty house with no holiday decorations. Then we lit upon the idea of decorating a small tree that would greet her with lights and cheer. We were wondering how to carry out our plan when the answer appeared. I was in Miss O’Keefe’s sixth grade class that year, and we decorated a small tree with paper-link chains and ornaments we’d made in art class. It was beautiful. Best of all, it had to be removed from the classroom before Christmas vacation. Miss O’Keefe said there would be a drawing for the tree. We’d each write our name on a piece of paper and put it in the box she had prepared. On the last day of school before vacation, she’d draw a name from the box, and that student could take the tree home. Great! That was exactly what I was longing for! So I wrote my name “Helen Wheeler” neatly on a piece of paper and folded it carefully. As I put it into the box, I whispered to Miss O’Keefe that I really hoped I’d win the tree because my sister and I wanted to give it to our neighbor. Though there were 30 children in the class and each might win the tree, I was somehow certain that I would get it because our cause was good: We wanted to make Mrs Mueller happy. The day before vacation finally arrived. Laurel and I usually walked to and from school, but that day I persuaded Mom to pick us up in her car after school in case I really got the tree. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Before school was over, Miss O’Keefe announced it was time for the drawing. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The next evening we welcomed Mrs Mueller back at her door. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Before school was over, Miss O’Keefe announced it was time for the drawing. My heart pounded as Miss O’ Keefe put her hand into the box and drew one folded piece of paper out. Then she unfolded the paper. looked at it and announced. “Helen has won the tree!” I was beside myself with excitement! And I’ll never forget the astonishment on my mother’s face as my sister and I carried the tree to her car. Since Mom had a key to Mrs Mueller’s house, we took the tree straight to her living room and set it up on a table. It looked so beautiful! The next evening we welcomed Mrs Mueller back at her door. She slowly made her way into the house and turned on the lights. Greeted by the sparkling Christmas tree. Mrs Mueller was rooted to the spot, looking surprised. Then a sweet smile appeared on her face and tears welled up in her eyes. “Thank you so much. she said softly. B. By explaininga process. C. By discussing research findings. D. By sharing a personal experience. C Harvesting fruit is a very precise operation. “Not finding enough fruit pickers is every farmer’s biggest concern” Yaniv Maor, Tevel’s founder and CEO said. The flying robots circle round trees and pick only the ripe ones with a twist(扭动) of their integrated grasper arms The robots are fitted with cameras that USC AI to assess the size and color of the fruit so that only the ripe ones are picked. A. Doubtful. B. Positive. C. Worried. D. Unclear. D Life as an astronaut has various unique attractions. D. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 听力:1-5 CACAB 6-10 BABCB 11-15 CABAC 16-20 ABBCA 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
