Unit 1 Festivals Around the World words and expressions Teaching aims: After class, students will be able to : 1. Mater some words and expressions about festival. 2. Use these words and expressions in different situations. 3. Establish the concept of cultural integration and actively promote traditional Chinese culture. Teaching key and difficult points: 1. Read and understand the meanings of words and expressions. 2. Correctly use these words and expressions. Teaching Procedures: Step 1: Lead-in After greeting students, the teacher will show students some pictures about festivals.Then ask students to share their descriptions about these pictures. Step 2: Presentation 1. New words teaching With the help of pictures, the teacher will present the meaning、usage、pronunciation and spelling of these new words and expressions. 2. Listen and read After teaching, invite students to listen to the tape and read these wors and expressions after it. Then ask some students to read these words to check their pronunciation and intonation. If they have mistakes, correct them. Step 3: Practice 1. Make a match. Invite students to finish a match to practice these new words.Students will match words with pictures. 2. Make sentences Ask students to make sentences by using words they have learned just now .The teacher will make an example for students. eg: The local people celebrate the Spring Festival in their own ways. Step 4: Applications 1. Read and choose Ask students to read the following sentences and choose the right answers. eg: Which of the following is a traditional cultural product? A. paper-cut B. mobile phone C. the great wall 2. Read and complete Ask students to read the following sentences and complete it . eg: Moon cake is the traditional food for the Mid-Autumn Festival.
