The theme is about the advantages and disadvantages on making friends online which is popular in students’ life.

The genre of this text is an argumentation. This passage divided into four parts: making friends in the past and at present, advantages of making friends online, disadvantages of making friends online, author’s attitude.
3.The purpose of the text
By understanding and analyzing the text, can not only arouse the students’ interest in learning English, but also improve their social communication.
Analysis of students
Student status
Merits: The students are the grade one students of senior high school, so it is easy to have some problems in adapting to the new environment and making friends. Students at this age are curious and active. They are eager to learn something new and interesting.
Shortcomings: Many of them are shy and lack of vocabulary, which might make them not express themselves freely and correctly.
Solutions:
(1) Quote a song to help students get familiar with the topic of the article in advance.
(2) Show some pictures about the ways the students make friends online and offline.
