“Make-A-Wish” is one of the world’s most well-known charities (慈善机构). It makes wishes come true for children who have serious illnesses. It gives them hope and joy and helps them forget about their health problems and have fun.
It started in 1980 in Phoenix, Arizona. Christopher was a 7-year-old boy who was very sick. He always dreamed of becoming a police officer. Tommy Austin and Ron Cox, two police officers, made his wish come true. They gave Christopher a tour of the city in a police helicopter (直升飞机) and made a real police uniform (制服) for him.
There are four kinds of wishes children usually have:
I wish to go. Children usually want to travel or go to a concert, a game or a park.
I wish to meet. Children sometimes want to meet their favourite actors singers or players.
I wish to be. Some children wish to become actors, singers or police officers.
I wish to have. They often want to have a computer, a game, a bike or many other things.
Let’s hope more wishes will come true in the future. People who work in the charity always try for the best. Almost 25,000 volunteers help, work or give money. Will you be one of them?

People around the word felt excited on the night of April 10, 2019. For the first time in history, people saw a photo of a black hole. The photo became popular at once. But do you know it has something to do with a computer scientist Katie Bouman. Without her, there won’t be this photo.
Black holes are very far from us, so it is very difficult to take photos of them. It’s like taking a photo of an orange that is on the moon. Many scientists had tried. However, none of them succeeded.
These failures didn’t stop Bouman from trying. Several years ago, she started working on a special computer program. During the part years, she has improved the program many times. Finally, it turned telescope data (望远镜数据) into a photo of a black hole.
Bouman has received lots of praise because of her work. The young woman, however, is modest. She said the success mainly depends on her team. “None of us could do it alone,” she said.
Would you like to make history as Bouman did? Set a goal for yourself and work hard at it. Maybe you will make it come true in the future.

43. What is the best title of the passage?

八、阅读表达(共小题;每小题2分,满分6分)
Mark knew he shouldn’t listen under the window at old Mr Crowe’s house. But he couldn’t help it—the voices were so loud. Anyway, if he moved away now someone might see him.
“What old coat?” asked a woman.
“The grey one, with all the pockets,” said a man, angrily. That was Mr Crowe.
Then Mark heard the woman speak again.
“That old thing!” she laughed.
“I put it out for the garbage truck (垃圾车) this morning. I should throw them away years ago.”
That must be Mr Crowe’s daughter, thought Mark. She’s the only one who ever visits him. As he thought about the neighbour, Mark came to know there was a different noise coming from the house. The old man was sobbing (呜咽).
“Why are you so worried?” asked the woman. “It was just an old coat.”
The sobbing grew louder. Mark couldn’t move. Then he heard the old man speak again.

【答案】One possible version:
The Earth is our home
The Earth is our home and we only have one Earth. However, our earth is in danger now. More and more natural disasters happen around the world every year. People cut down too many trees to make space for buildings and farmlands. Animals are in danger, too. People kill them for their fur, bones and some other parts of the body. It’s time for us to save the earth now. First, the government should make laws to stop these people. Second, we shouldn’t buy fur coats any more. Last, we should live a green life to save energy. In these ways, our earth will be better.
