1. The book I wrote last year_________and it will soon come out.
A. printed B. will print
C. was printed D. is being printed
2. Although all of the dishes ________, none of them ________ good.
A. have been tasted; taste B. have been tasted; are tasted
C. have tasted; taste D. have tasted; are tasted
【答案】A
3. When first ______ to the market, these products enjoyed great success.
A. introducing B. introduced
C. introduce D. being introduced
When these products were first introduced to the market。
(1)在when, while, if, as if, though(或although), as, until, once, whether, unless, where等连词连接的状语从句中,常省略跟主句相同的主语和be动词。如:
When (water is) pure, water is a colorless liquid.
When (I am) in trouble I always turn to her for help.
Errors, if (there are) any, should be corrected.
Wood gives much smoke while (wood is) burning.
(2)“when(或if, where, wherever, whenever, as soon as, as fast as, than等)+possible/necessary等”,中间省略了it is(或was)。如:
Answer these questions, if (it is) possible without referring to the book.
When (it is) necessary you can help us to do something.
4. _______ by thick bamboo and high forest, the ancient city hadn’t been discovered until the 1990s.
A. Surrounding B. Surround
C. Surrounded D. Having surrounded
5. that his fans would greet him excitedly, the pop star appeared at the airport, only nobody waiting for him.
A. Convinced; finding B. Convinced; to find
C. Convincing; finding D. Convincing; to find
6. —Shall we go hiking this weekend?
—With all this work ________, I don’t know if I’ll have time to go out.
A. doing B. to do C. done D. to be done
7. It takes a bit of practice________ comfortable when foreigners learn to use chopsticks to eat.
A. feeling B. to feel C. felt D. to be felt
8. The question ________ next year has something important to do with our daily life.
A. to discuss B. discussed C. to be discussed D. being discussed
9. After talking with him for a few minutes, I ________ the conclusion that he was not fit for our work.
A. went to B. came to C. turned to D. referred to
A. went to去…;B. came to突然被某人意识到;C. turned to请求;D. referred to提到。根据后文“the conclusion that he was not fit for our work.”
10. --- Does the young man _____ the company?
--- No, the company is _____ his father.
A. in possession of; in the possession of B. have possession of; in the possession of
C. take possession of; in possession of D. have possession of; in possession of
A. in possession of拥有; in the possession of被------拥有;B. have possession of拥有;in the possession of被------拥有;C. take possession of拥有;in possession of拥有;D. have possession of拥有;in possession of拥有。

B
Climbing, I once thought, was a very manly activity, but as I found my way into this activity, I came to see that something quite different happens on the rock.
Like wild swimming, rock climbing involves you into the landscape. On the rock, I am fully focused. Eyes pay close attention, ears are alert, and hands move across the surface. Unlike walking, where I could happily wander about absent-mindedly, in climbing, attentive observation is essential.
As an arts student studying English literature, I discovered a new type of reading from outdoor climbing. Going out on to the crags (悬崖), I saw how you could learn to read the rocks and develop a vocabulary of physical movements. Good climbers knew how to adjust their bodies on to the stone. Watching them, I wanted to possess that skillful “language”.
My progress happened when I worked for the Caingorms National Park Authority. Guiding my explorations into this strange new landscape was Nan Shepherd, a lady too. Unlike the goal-directed mindset of many mountaineers, she is not concerned with peaks or personal achievement. Shepherd sees the mountain as a total environment and she celebrates the Caingorms as a place alive with plants, rocks, animals and elements. Through her generous spirit and my own curiosity, I saw that rock climbing need not be a process of testing oneself against anything. Rather, the intensity of focus could develop a person into another way of being.
Spending so much time in high and stony places has transformed my view on the world and our place in it. I have come into physical contact with processes that go way beyond the everyday. Working with gravity, geology (地质学), rhythms of weather and deep time, I gain an actual relationship with the earth. This bond lies at the heart of my passion for rock climbing. I return to the rocks, because this is where I feel in contact with our land.
14. Why does the author like rock climbing?
A It challenges her to compete with men. B. It allows her a unique attitude toward rock.
C. It teaches her how to possess a new language. D. It makes her feel connected wth the earth.
15. What does the writer find important in climbing?
A. Balance. B. Concentration.
C. Determination. D. Perseverance
16. What does the writer learn from Nan Shepherd?
A. Climbing goes together with nature. B. Every mountain top is within reach.
C. The best climber is the one having fun. D. You can not achieve high unless you change.
17. What does the underlined word “it” in the last paragraph refer to?
A. Time. B. Transformation. C. The world. D. My view.
D 15. B 16. A 17. C

根据文章最后一段“Working with gravity, geology, rhythms of weather and deep time, I gain an actual relationship with the earth. This bond lies at the heart of my passion for rock climbing. I return to the rocks, because this is where I feel in contact with our land.(与重力、地质、气候节奏及深远的时间长河合作,我与地球建立起一种实际的关系。这种纽带正是我对攀岩热情的核心所在。我回归岩石,因为在这里,我能感受到与我们脚下这片土地的联系)”可知,攀岩使她感到与大地相连。故选D项。
【15题详解】
细节理解题。根据文章第二段“On the rock, I am fully focused. Eyes pay close attention, ears are alert, and hands move across the surface. Unlike walking, where I could happily wander about absent-mindedly, in climbing, attentive observation is essential.(在岩石之上,我全神贯注。眼睛密切注视,耳朵警觉倾听,双手在表面游走。与行走时可以心不在焉地悠然漫步不同,攀岩时,专注观察至关重要)”可知,作者发现攀岩时专注很重要。故选B项。
【16题详解】
推理判断题。根据文章第四段“Shepherd sees the mountain as a total environment and she celebrates the Caingorms as a place alive with plants, rocks, animals and elements.(Shepherd将山视为一个完整的环境,并且她赞美凯恩戈姆山是一个充满植物、岩石、动物和自然元素的地方)”可知,作者从Shepherd身上学到攀登与大自然融为一体。故选A项。
根据划线词所在句子“Spending so much time in high and stony places has transformed my view on the world and our place in it.(在高处多石的地方呆了这么长时间,改变了我对世界和我们在其中的地位的看法)”可知,此处指作者通过爬山改变了对世界和自身在世界中的地位的看法,it指代前文的“世界”。故选C项。
C
A recent study has found that using wood for construction instead of concrete and steel can reduce emissions. But Tim Searchinger at Princeton University says many of these studies are based on the false foundation that harvesting wood is carbon neutral (碳中和). “Only a small percentage of the wood gets into a timber (木料) product, and a part of that gets into a timber product that can replace concrete and steel in a building,” he says. Efficiencies vary in different countries, but large amounts of a harvested tree are left to be divided into parts, used in short-lived products like paper or burned for energy, all of which generate emissions.
In a report for the World Resources Institute, Searchinger and his colleagues have modelled how using more wood for construction would affect emissions between 2010 and 2050, accounting for the emissions from harvesting the wood. They considered various types of forests and parts of wood going towards construction. They also factored in the emissions savings from replacing concrete and steel.
Under some circumstances, the researchers found significant emissions reductions. But each case required what they considered an unrealistically high portion of the wood going towards construction, as well as rapid growth only seen in warmer places, like Brazil. In general, they found a large increase in global demand for wood would probably lead to rising emissions for decades. Accounting for emissions in this way, the researchers reported in a related paper that increasing forest harvests between 2010 and 2050 would add emissions equal to roughly 10 percent of total annual emissions.
Ali Amiri at Aalto University in Finland says the report’s conclusions about emissions from rising demand are probably correct, but the story is different for wood we already harvest. “Boosting the efficiency of current harvests and using more wood for longer lived purposes than paper would cut emissions,” he says. “We cannot just say we should stop using wood.”
18. What is wrong with previous researches according to Searchinger?
A. They got wrong statistics. B. They included too many factors.
C. They used an incorrect concept. D. They were applied in limited countries.
19. What does paragraph 2 mainly talk about?
A. The process of the new research. B. The background of the new study.
C. The challenge of the new research. D. The achievements of the new study.
20. When will the emissions drop off greatly according to the new study?
A. When wood grows slowly. B. When wood is used to make paper.
C. When wood is used to build a house. D. When wood is harvested in countries like Brazil.
21. What is Ali Amiri’s attitude toward the new result?
A. Favorable. B. Doubtful. C. Critical. D. Objective.
C 19. A 20. C 21. D
根据第一段“But Tim Searchinger at Princeton University says many of these studies are based on the false foundation that harvesting wood is carbon neutral (碳中和).(但普林斯顿大学的Tim Searchinger表示,许多研究都是基于一个错误的基础,即砍伐木材是碳中和的)”可知,许多这样的研究都基于一个错误的概念,即采伐木材就是碳中和。
根据第二段“In a report for the World Resources Institute, Searchinger and his colleagues have modelled how using more wood for construction would affect emissions between 2010 and 2050, accounting for the emissions from harvesting the wood. They considered various types of forests and parts of wood going towards construction. They also factored in the emissions savings from replacing concrete and steel.(在世界资源研究所的一份报告中,Searchinger和他的同事们模拟了2010年至2050年间,使用更多的木材进行建筑将如何影响排放,并考虑到了砍伐木材的排放量。他们考虑了各种类型的森林和用于建筑的部分木材。他们还考虑到了更换混凝土和钢材所节省的排放量)”可知,第二段主要介绍新研究的过程。故选A项。
根据第三段“Under some circumstances, the researchers found significant emissions reductions. But each case required what they considered an unrealistically high portion of the wood going towards construction, as well as rapid growth only seen in warmer places, like Brazil.(在某些情况下,研究人员发现了显著的减排。但每一种情况都需要他们认为不切实际的高比例木材用于建筑,以及只有在巴西等温暖地区才能看到的快速增长)”可知,用木材建造建筑会导致碳排放量显著减少,只是前提条件比较苛刻。故选C项。
【21题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段“Ali Amiri at Aalto University in Finland says the report’s conclusions about emissions from rising demand are probably correct, but the story is different for wood we already harvest. “Boosting the efficiency of current harvests and using more wood for longer lived purposes than paper would cut emissions,” he says. “We cannot just say we should stop using wood.”(芬兰阿尔托大学的阿里·阿梅里说,该报告关于需求增长导致的排放的结论可能是正确的,但我们已经收获的木材的情况不同。他说:“提高当前收成的效率并将更多的木材用于比纸张更长久的用途将减少排放。我们不能只是说我们应该停止使用木材。”)”可知,Ali Amiri对此研究结果有一定的肯定性,但是他又表示我们不能说我们就应该停止使用木材。故他对此研究结果从正反两方面都进行了说明,其态度是客观公正的。故选D项。
D
While scientists have many ideas they are not certain why humans yawn(打哈欠). Still, there is one thing experts know—yawns seem to be contagious(传染)!
Have you ever caught a yawn from someone else? Most people have. In fact, a person is six times more likely to yawn after seeing someone else do so. Experts have done many studies into why yawns seem to pass from person to person. As a result, they have a few theories(理论) for the reason behind it.
One possible explanation has something to do with social mirroring, which is caused by mirror neurons(镜像神经元) in the brain. These mirror neurons help the brain notice useful behavior of others and then copy it. When one person sees another yawn, his mirror neurons observe the action and consider it to be beneficial. That may cause him to yawn, too.
Another popular theory is that yawns are contagious because of social relationships. Being social creatures, humans form friendships, families and live together in groups. That’s why many people mirror others, such as smiling when another person smiles. Yawning may be just another example of this. In fact, research has shown that one is most likely to catch yawns from another person if the two share a social relationship.
The answer could even be that yawns aren’t truly contagious at all. Instead, people yawn together simply because they’re in the same environment. Experts say many things may cause yawning, including temperature and time of day. Whatever the explanation is, experts do know that contagious yawns aren’t limited to humans. One study found that lions in South Africa also caught each other’s yawns.
22. What kind of behavior may be copied by mirror neurons?
A. Important and attractive. B. Useful and beneficial.
C. Hard to understand. D. Easy to copy.
23. Whose yawns are people most likely to catch according to Paragraph 4?
A. Those who yawn a lot. B. Those who like smiling.
C. Those closely connected with them. D. Those sharing the same interest with them.
24. What might the author continue talking about in the following paragraph?
A. Tips on how to avoid yawning in public.
B. A real explanation for contagious yawning.
C. Other examples of animals yawning together.
D. Things that may cause yawning among humans.
25. Which of the following serves as the best title?
A. Why yawns are contagious B. What causes people to yawn
C. Who yawns more than others D. Why humans yawn now and then
B 23. C 24. C 25. A
根据文章第三段“One possible explanation has something to do with social mirroring, which is caused by mirror neurons in the brain. These mirror neurons help the brain notice useful behavior of others and then copy it. When one person sees another yawn, his mirror neurons observe the action and consider it to be beneficial. That may cause him to yawn, too.(一种可能的解释与社交镜像有关,社交镜像是由大脑中的镜像神经元引起的。这些镜像神经元帮助大脑注意到他人的有用行为,然后复制它。当一个人看到另一个人打哈欠时,他的镜像神经元会观察到这个动作,并认为这是有益的。这也可能导致他打哈欠)”可知,镜像神经元可以复制有用和有益的行为。故选B项。
【23题详解】
细节理解题。根据文章第四段“Another popular theory is that yawns are contagious because of social relationships. Being social creatures, humans form friendships, families and live together in groups. That’s why many people mirror others, such as smiling when another person smiles. Yawning may be just another example of this. In fact, research has shown that one is most likely to catch yawns from another person if the two share a social relationship.(另一个流行的理论是,打哈欠会因为社会关系而传染。作为社会生物,人类建立友谊、家庭,并以群体的形式生活在一起。这就是为什么很多人都会模仿别人,比如当别人微笑时微笑。打哈欠可能只是另一个例子。事实上,研究表明,如果一个人和另一个人有着共同的社会关系,那么他们最有可能被对方打哈欠)”可知,人们最容易被那些与他们关系密切的人的哈欠传染。故选C项。
【24题详解】
推理判断题。根据文章最后一段“Experts say many things may cause yawning, including temperature and time of day. Whatever the explanation is, experts do know that contagious yawns aren’t limited to humans. One study found that lions in South Africa also caught each other’s yawns.(专家表示,许多因素可能会导致打哈欠,包括温度和一天中的时间。无论解释是什么,专家们都知道传染性哈欠并不局限于人类。一项研究发现,南非的狮子也会互相打哈欠)”可推知,在接下来的段落中,作者可能会继续谈论其他动物一起打哈欠的例子。故选C项。
【25题详解】
主旨大意题。结合全文及文章第一段“While scientists have many ideas, they are not certain why humans yawn. Still, there is one thing experts know—yawns seem to be contagious!(虽然科学家们有很多想法,但他们不确定人类为什么会打哈欠。尽管如此,专家们还是知道一件事——打哈欠似乎会传染!)”可知,文章主要介绍了一些关于打哈欠会传染的理论,故A项“为什么打哈欠会传染”适合作为文章的标题。故选A项。

Some people might think this is unimportant, but if you are truly passionate about your job then going to work every day won’t seem a chore.(第二,选择你感兴趣的职业。 D“It’s also likely that you will stay and grow in this career.(你也有可能在这个职业中留下来并成长。)”
根据空前内容“Although high pay plays a part, you should know that a job with a big salary will likely require more time to get to the top, much more effort and a higher level of stress.(虽然高薪是一部分原因,但你应该知道,高薪的工作可能需要更多的时间、更多的努力和更大的压力才能达到顶峰。)” F“Only the truly motivated will likely to be able to meet these challenges.(只有真正有动力的人才有可能迎接这些挑战。)”是上文内容的自然延续,指的是想要应对这些挑战需要真正有动力的人,从而因此下文“If you have interests outside of work, or are struggling with other demands in your life, you might want to choose a less demanding line of work.(如果你在工作之外有兴趣,或者正在为生活中的其他需求而挣扎,你可能想选择一份要求不那么高的工作。)”。
根据下文“Let me leave you with an old saying: “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”(让我以一句老话作为结尾:“选择你热爱的工作,你将永远不会觉得自己在工作。”)” G“Thinking about a life-long career at this stage in your life is surely disturbing.(在人生的这个阶段考虑终身事业肯定是令人不安的。)”

67 Superman Learns How to Ride
It was the summer of 1967, and the moment was nearing when I would cast off my training wheels and learn to ride a bike.
As an adventurous little boy, I sure put my overactive imagination to good use. I would pretend to be the bookish reporter, Clark Kent. Then, at the first sign of something wrong, I disappeared and emerged moments later with a red towel hanging from the collar of my dirty blue T-shirt and an ironed-on letter “S” on my chest.
“This is a job for Superman!” I would cry out as I flew to meet imaginary dangers that threatened the world.
“Hey, Superman, when are you going to learn to ride a bike?” the neighborhood kids would taunt as they rolled past. “The Man of Steel still uses training wheels!” they laughed.
As I watched them ride away, I realized I was being left behind. To claim my place among their ranks, I needed to cast off my training wheels and learn to ride with the big kids. I turned to my father for help.
“Okay, I’m going to let go, and you just remember to balance,” Dad advised patiently on my tenth try. Suddenly I was riding! I dared to smile as my father’s shouts of encouragement faded into the background. My smile widened. Victory was mine.
You are going to fall. The thought was at first a whisper and then grew louder and more convincing until I believed it must be true. After all, I had always fallen before. Why should this time be any different? Fear seized me, and my confidence weakened and I couldn’t grasp the handlebars tightly. Sure enough, I fell to the grass.
“You almost had it,” Dad said, catching his breath. “You are seized with a sense of fear so you fell.”
“I quit,” I said angrily, trying to fight back the tears of frustration. “I don’t want to learn to ride.”
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
Paragraph 1: However, on thinking of Superman, I decided to behave like a real hero.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Paragraph 2: I gripped the handlebars with strong determination.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
One possible version:
However, on thinking of Superman, I decided to behave like a real hero. Holding back tears, I asked my dad to tell me the reason why I fell. I observed my dad and other kids’ performance of riding bikes and kept every movement in mind. But most importantly, I must overcome the sense of fright when riding, so I read more stories of Superman and gradually knew that bravery could be learned through constant practice. On a sunny day, having much practice and enough courage, I begged my dad to accompany me to have a try.
I gripped the handlebars with strong determination. I took a deep breath and began to pedal. With my Superman cape flapping, I rounded the front of our house at full speed. “Look, Dad! I’m riding!” I shouted. He smiled and waved as I took a turn up the dirt road. Superman had beaten an enemy called “fear” and once again the world was as a safer, happier place.

C. The best climber is the one having fun. D. You can not achieve high unless you change.
17. What does the underlined word “it” in the last paragraph refer to?
A. Time. B. Transformation. C. The world. D. My view.

A. Favorable. B. Doubtful. C. Critical. D. Objective.

While scientists have many ideas, they are not certain why humans yawn(打哈欠).
22 What kind of behavior may be copied by mirror neurons?

67. Superman Learns How to Ride
