Should we use AI in schools? Some people may say no, but many experts and officials think AI tools should be safely and properly used in schools instead of being banned (禁止).
Zheng Qinghua, president of Tongji University, stressed the importance of taking the chances and challenges presented by Al-empowered education(教育平台). He suggested that young people should be guided to improve their understanding of the knowledge created by technology.
In fact, AI has already become more and more important for teaching, learning, and school management. Zheng stressed the wide use of different models such as Ernie Bot, an AI chatbot developed by Baidu. It can write papers, solve science problems and help students with their homework and tests. A survey showed that 89 percent of students had used Chat GPT for homework assistance.
Some people worry that it may bring the problem of dishonesty and some bad influence (影响) on education. Instead of simply using AI to give answers or finish homework and tests, people should concentrate on using AI to help students be creative and have the ability to solve real-world problems, said Zheng.
To make sure AI is used safely, effectively and properly, people around the world are working on rules. In the US, plans are made to protect people's rights when using chatbots. As Colin Bailey, president of Queen Mary University of London, pointed that the UK government is taking action to manage AI and encourage creativity. China has also done something for managing AI services. Chen Jie, vice-minister of education, said it's important for schools and research centers to work together to deal with problems caused by AI.

The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024, while the Paralympic Games(残奥会) are planned from August 28 to September 8. Unlike in previous(先前的) years, both the Olympic and Paralympic share the same torch design.
The torch, 70cm in height, is made of lightweight shiny steel and stands out for its champagne color(香槟色). The bottom part has a special design that looks like the River Seine, along which the opening ceremony will be held.
Mathieu Lehanneur, the designer of the torch, shared that he drew inspiration from three themes of the 2024 Paris Olympics — equality, water, and peace. He explained, “For the first time in its history, the torch for the 2024 Paris Olympics has a perfect balance between non-disabled athletes and para-athletes, which shows us what equality really means.”
Equality is also a driving force behind the Paris 2024 project. This includes putting the same effort into organizing the Paralympic Games as well as the Olympic Games. Equality can also be seen in the showing of women, with as many women as men competing, which is new in the Games' history.
“The design of the torch stands for water, which looks like flowing water waves. And it seems to have a vibrating feeling, almost like it's moving. Peace is shown by the gentleness of the curves(曲线).” added the designer.
The Paris 2024 torch was made by ArcelorMittal, an official partner of Paris 2024. ArcelorMittal will produce 2,000 torches, at least five times fewer than in previous editions of the Games, in order to reduce the influence of production.
The torch which was poured with the wisdom and effort of French people was lit by the sunlight in Olympia, Greece, on April 16, 2024. After that, it has started a journey through 64 areas of France, including five overseas areas.

“The wind blows fragrance of the lotus. Dew drips on the bamboo with a clear sound.” This was how Meng Haoran, the famous Tang Dynasty poet, described the scene at the height of summer in what is now Hubei Province, 1,400 years ago.
The traditional Chinese lunar calendar divides the year into 24 solar systems. Summer Solstice, Xiazhi, is the 10th solar term of the year, falls on June 21st or 22nd. It is the longest day and the shortest night of the year in the northern hemisphere (半球). Another Tang Dynasty poet, Wei Yingwu wrote. “Day by the sundial has reached its peak, while the night by the water clock has begun to grow.” Although the summer solstice marks the longest day of the year, it does not bring the hottest temperatures which will come only 20 to 30 days later.
Summer Solstice is celebrated everywhere in the world that the sun shines. In China, women exchange gifts like fans and sachets of herbs(香草制成的香蕉) on the day, expressing their wish for a comfortable and pleasant summer.
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, this is when the yang energy in the human body reaches its top. Therefore, people need to protect this energy and prevent their bodies from getting sunstroke(中暑). With the approach of hot summer days, great attention should be paid to our diet. We need to change to a menu designed for hot summer, or we might suffer from an imbalance of nutrition.
An old saying goes, “cat dumplings on the Winter Solstice and cat noodles on Summer Solstice.” Today across the country, people traditionally eat all kinds of noodles on that day. In Beijing, everyone eats zha jiang mian, noodles with fried bean sauce. In the Yangtze basin, it's yang chun mian, thin noodles in a simple soup.
The hot summer weather might make people a bit impatient during the daytime. Well, the ancestors have given us some good advice, “As long as you keep inner peace, you won't feel the heat too much.”

参考范文:
To be a civilized student
We are glad that our city is trying to be one of the national civilized cities. As middle school students, we are supposed to contribute to building our hometown into a national civilized city.
First of all, a beautiful environment ensures our quality of life, so we may take an active part in planting trees. Not only can it make the air fresh, but it also makes our city more and more beautiful. We can also ride bikes, or take the bus instead of driving to cut down the air pollution.
Besides, good manners make our city better. We’d better not talk or laugh loudly in public in case of disturbing others. It’s also important to follow traffic rules everywhere in order to keep our city organized.
Last but not least, love is the soul of civilization. In our free time, we can also take on some voluntary jobs, such as caring for the elderly or looking after left-behind children. If everyone gives a little kindness, our city will be full of love.
Building a civilized city starts with little things. I believe that only if everyone can do our part, Nantong will achieve it.
Let’s work together to be civilized students!
