Mr Li: Sure, it's my pleasure.
Reporter: Many travelers say as the world's highest mountain, the Himalayas have many great wonders, right?
Mr Li: Yes. Can you see the cloud on the top of the mountain? It is the flag-shaped cloud, a unique sight in Mount Qomolangma.
Reporter: Wow, it's beautiful. What's so unique about this cloud?
Mr Li: We call it “qiyun” in Chinese, because the cloud looks like a flag on top from a distance. It is also said that this piece of cloud can forecast the weather.
Reporter: Forecast the weather? How could it possibly do that?
Mr Li: Well, the local people say if the flag-shaped cloud is pointing to the east, heavy snow is on the way. If it is going directly upwards, we will probably have bad weather.
Reporter: That's amazing. Many travelers say the Himalayas have the most beautiful mountains they have ever seen.

Each year, thousands of people are attracted to the unique “firefall” in Yosemite National Park in California. The amazing “firefall” comes to life only when there is enough water from the melting (融化) snow to keep the waterfall flowing and when the light of the setting sun hits the water at the right angle (角度). This waterfall appearing to be on fire can only been seen for a short time in February on clear sunny days.
This year, the weather isn’t stopping the “firefall” from happening, but it is making the journey to see it more difficult. “What should have been a 10-minute walk turned into a two-hour hike through deep snow,” photographer Ryan Fitzsimons said about his recent trip to see the view. “Our clothes were all wet when we got to a viewing site. But the heavy snow made the sight much more beautiful since the waterfall was much bigger this year.”
Another photographer Andy Heitz was making his first trip to see the “firefall”. He had to wait five hours in the cold for his turn to take a picture. “I got to the site at about 12:10 at noon. The place was already filled with hundreds of people waiting to see and photograph the ‘firefall’. I was so lucky that I shot a really wonderful picture,” he said. “You know, only on a few days in February when the sun sets down at the perfect angle to shine can we see this amazing ‘firefall’.”
The “firefall” should continue to be there from 20 to 24 February. But park officials said that there was no promise that visitors would see it on any given day.
41.When might be the best time to take pictures of the “firefall” in February?
A.Early in the morning. B.At noon.
C.Late in the afternoon. D.At night.
42.What can we learn from Paragraph 2?
A.Heavy rain made the “firefall” hard to be seen.
B.Photographers were not satisfied with the sight.
C.The snowy weather made the view enjoyable.
D.Visitors spent less time getting to the viewing site.
43.Why might the “firefall” disappear between 20 to 24 February this year?
A.There wasn’t any fire. B.It might be too cloudy.
C.The waterfall might not freeze. D.The snow might melt too fast.
44.What is the main purpose of this text?
A.To introduce an attraction. B.To give suggestions for a trip.
C.To advertise a park in the US. D.To explain what is a “firefall”.
45.On which page of a newspaper can we probably read the text?
A.Technology. B.Sports. C.History. D.Geography.
You must have heard of the story of Yu Gong, who tried to move two mountains. The Taihang Mountain was one of the two mountains. It is about 400 kilometers long. It is one of the largest mountains in North China, and it was called “the backbone (脊柱) of China” in ancient times.
Many of the stories about the very beginning of human civilization (文明) come from the Taihang area. For example, Nü Wa used stones to repair the sky to make sure that humans would have a better future. Hou Yi protected everyone by shooting the suns. Yandi, one of the earliest Chinese emperors, tried large numbers of herbs (药草) and taught people how to use them to treat illnesses.
The Taihang Mountain is the place where the ancient stories happened. And it’s also the place where tens of thousands of fossils (化石) were found. These fossils show how the earth has changed over time. At the same time, we can also learn about how ancient humans lived from the discoveries around the area.
Nowadays, there are natural forests around the area with beautiful colors in four seasons. It is home to many animals and plants as well.
If you need a trip that helps you learn different things about history, culture and other important knowledge, the Taihang Mountain is a great choice for you.

16.“Do you have any troubles in the Dragon Hotel, Mr Dancer?” asked a reporter.(改为间接引语)
A reporter asked Mr Dancer he some troubles in the Dragon Hotel.
【答案】 whether had
根据直接引语为特殊疑问句,变为间接引语时,仍用原来的疑问词引导,主句为一般过去时,间接引语也应用过去的某种时态,故has变为had,又结合“‘Do you have any troubles in the Dragon Hotel, Mr Dancer?’ asked a reporter.” 故填whether;had。
17.“I will show the photos to you as soon as I come back,” Jim told me.
Jim told me he show the photos to me as soon as he came back.
【答案】 that would
故填that;would。
18.“Will you celebrate your 15th birthday?” Mike asked Jane.
Mike asked Jane she celebrate her 15th birthday.

19.“I will design a poster for our own clothing store,” said the shop owner.
The shop owner said that he a poster for their clothing store.
【答案】 would design
故填would;design。
20.“Where will we go during the summer holiday?” Nina asked her mother.
Nina asked her mother they go during the summer holiday.
【答案】 where would
故填where;would。
