Workers are happy that they don’t have to do them, especially at night. Another special robot can even do tasks that are difficult or dangerous. It is so big that it can carry things up to 40 kilograms and can reach as high as ten meters. Besides, it helps workers fix railway lines (维修铁路线路). But what happens when it hits a mosquito (蚊子)? A 2012 study says when a raindrop falls on a mosquito, it’s like when a bus hits a person. Besides, the little insect is hit by a raindrop about once every 20 seconds. So why don’t we see many dead mosquitoes after it rains? A mosquito is as big as a raindrop, but it is much lighter—0.002g only. This saves its life in raindrop attacks. Because the mosquito is so light, when it is hit by a raindrop, it won’t experience a force that is strong enough to kill it. The study also found that when a mosquito is hit by a raindrop, the insect is pushed by the raindrop and falls together with it. But the mosquito doesn’t get wet easily because it is covered with hairs which keep off water. After dropping about 6 cm, it will roll off the raindrop and fly away. However, this trick isn’t always successful. If the mosquito flies too low when it is hit by the raindrop, it won’t have time to fly off. Then it will hit the ground and meet its death. 32. What keeps a mosquito safe in the rain? A. It is as big as a raindrop. B. It has no body hairs. C. It is very light. 33. Why doesn’t the mosquito get wet easily in the rain? A. It flies away easily. B. Its hairs can keep off water. C. It isn’t afraid of water in the rain. 34. When would it be dangerous for a mosquito in the rain? A. When it flies too close to the ground. B. When the rain falls too hard and too fast. C. When it is hit by raindrops too many times. 35. Where can we find this passage? A. In a guide book. B. In a science book. C. In a story book. 【答案】32. Can you imagine yourself living a month, or even a year without checking your mobile phone from time to time? As a busy modern person with lots of social connections, plans and responsibilities, I just cannot afford to not be in touch with the rest of the world. Staying connected to other people is a big part of my life. However, sometimes it can be bothersome (恼人的). One day I discovered I was terribly tired out. I tried turning notifications (通知) off. But the fear of missing out something important made me check the phone more often than before. So, I simply stopped using my phone. Well, to tell the truth, it was not simple at all. For the first couple of days, I had a big fear that all of my friends would soon forget about me. When I had a free moment, I had no idea what to get myself distracted (分心的) with, and the worries mixed with boredom kept bothering me. However, after three weeks without a mobile phone, I started noticing changes—changes which I liked, and which drove me to not just continue the experiment, but in fact to reorganize some of my habits. First of all, I noticed that I became much more focused (专注的). Before, while doing something, I would often find myself wondering what was going on online. After a month of staying away from my mobile phone, I found that the urge (冲动) was already not that strong and that my ability to focus improved. I discovered that the world is a beautiful place. Before, I would look at it through my camera mostly: take a photo, post it, get some likes. Now, I saw beautiful people walking around and I sensed the seasons change. I could understand the actual beauty of the world, and I did not need anyone else to prove the value of this beauty through likes or shares. Now, as 100 days have passed, I can say that the experiment was worth it. I am planning to stay away from my phone for as long as possible. 36. 请从文中找出与下面所给句子意思相近的句子。 For the first few days, I was very worried that all my friends would soon forget me. ______________________________________________ 37. 请回答问题。 When did the writer start noticing his changes? ______________________________________________ 38. 请把文中划线句子翻译成汉语。 ______________________________________________ 39. 请给短文拟一个恰当的英文标题。 ______________________________________________ 40. 请结合自身实际回答问题。 Would you like to follow the writer’s example? When I finally reached the station, the toll station worker told me that the person in front had paid for me and I was free to go. I was so shocked. I didn’t need to save the 5 dollars. I would never know who he was. I was tired by the heavy traffic and the long line, and that behavior was surprising and unbelievable, which really touched my heart. So I decided to pay for the next car waiting in line. The first time I tried to pay forward the toll, I kept looking into my rear view mirror (后视镜) to see who I’d be paying for. In the mirror, I saw a tired- looking taxi driver. And I felt satisfied that my money would be going to a good place. But before we got to the toll station, the taxi driver had suddenly changed his way and now there was someone else behind me. She looked upset and was gesturing (举止) angrily in a conversation with her friend. I wasn’t willing to be paying for a woman like that and was certainly judging her by what I was seeing in the mirror. Anyway, I paid the toll for her and left. Thirty seconds later I was surprised to hear a honk (鸣笛声). It was the woman and her friend waving at me from the other way! She looked cheerful and happy. She wasn’t what I thought she was like. They can even do tasks that nobody wants to do. One special robot can help in fast food restaurants. At first, the robot only made burgers. But workers thought it could do more. Now, the robot can make many kinds of food like french fries and fried onions. It works faster than people because it can do more tasks at the same time. So it saves a lot of time and work. Also, the robot knows exactly when the food is ready. Workers are happy that they don’t have to do them, especially at night. Another special robot can even do tasks that are difficult or dangerous. It is so big that it can carry things up to 40 kilograms and can reach as high as ten meters. Besides, it helps workers fix railway lines (维修铁路线路). That’s because electricity can make some workers in danger and even fall sometimes. The robot can help them solve these problems and makes their lives much safer. These unusual robots seem to be doing good jobs, but they still need help from people. People control robots with a computer or a remote control (遥控器) or a VR headset (虚拟现实头盔). A In a guide book. B. In a science book. C. In a story book. 非选择题(共40分) 温馨提示:请将答案书写在答题卡的指定位置。 三、阅读理解(共两节,满分40分) 第二节(共5 小题;每小题2分,满分10分) 阅读下面短文,完成相关任务。 When was the last time you left home without your mobile phone?
