I always believe that helping others is helping ourselves. After something happened to me, I believe this even more.
The story happened when I was still a teacher. At that time, my wife, my little boy and I lived at the end of a long mountain road.
One day, I got a last-minute call to work at a school 15 miles away. I hurried out so that I could reach there on time. My old car was moving along the curves (弯道) and suddenly I saw a cat crossing the road. I quickly hit the brake so that I wouldn’t turn the little guy into a road kill. Just as it came to the side of the road, I started to move my foot from the brake. Just at that time, a truck (卡车) drove around the curve and crossed the center line. Then the driver saw me. He turned his steering wheel (方向盘) back and just missed my car. If that cat hadn’t made me slow down just a little bit, the truck would have run into my car.
I drove a little more slowly but still arrived at the school on time. I said “________” to myself over and over again on the way.

Dear Maria,
I’m in Bangkok(曼谷)on vacation. I think Bangkok is an interesting place to visit. Yesterday I visited some interesting places with my parents. They were great. This morning we went shopping. Bangkok is a good place to shop for jewelry and clothes. They are beautiful but not expensive. My mother bought a nice sweater and my father bought some T-shirts.

Do you like to try new things? Some people don’t. If they can do a thing well, they find it hard to challenge(挑战)themselves and become better? It’s OK to feel like this. Let’s meet a new idea-the “comfort zone(舒适区)”.
Many people like to stay in their comfort zones. It’s easy because you are in control(控制)of the things. But if you stay there too long, you will have no adventure (冒险) in your life.
I like public speeches(公众演讲)a lot, and made many speeches in all kinds of contests (比赛). For a long time, I felt that I was very good and I don’t want to challenge myself. Yes, I was in my “comfort zone”. But last week, I was in a contest. I heard a really interesting speech. The speaker started with a fun story. People like it very much. I saw a new door open for me. Later, I made some different ways to start a speech and I became better, I got a sense of achievement.

I was born without legs, but my parents wanted me to live the most normal (正常的) life possible. They would like me to try new things. So I played T-ball, soccer, track and other sports using wheelchairs (轮椅), but couldn’t really keep up.
I started playing sled hockey (雪橇曲棍球) when I was 8, and I fell in love with it at once. It is not played in a wheelchair. Instead, we move around the ice on sleds. We use two sticks (球棒), both to skate and to shoot and pass the ball.

In 2014, when I was 15, I became the youngest player to ever compete on the U.S. sled hockey team at the Paralympics (残奥会). It felt like a dream. I went from being a normal high-school kid to flying to Russia and competing on stands and enjoyed it all.
As players, we’re always trying news ways to shoot, working on things that no one notices but make a big difference on the ice. I’m Zhang Tao, a student of Sunshine Middle school. One day, I came home and felt terrible. I tried out for (参加……选拔) the school volleyball team, I didn’t make it. I didn’t want to talk to anyone. My mother was worried and took me to visit my uncle, because he always helped us solve problems.

Do you know what I do? Every year, I make a decision to try one new thing—like a new sport, a new book, or a new hobby. Trying new things can help you grow up.”

The consumption (消费) idea and lifestyle of the young people are quietly changing. There is a new idea called Reverse (反向的) Consumption. It means that people no longer blindly buy very expensive things, but pay more attention to the cost performance (性价比). As a result, they are more willing to buy what they really need and compare the prices before buying them.
Reverse consumption actually encourages people not to waste. Compared with traditional consumption habits, it refuses to keep buying new goods, and pays more attention to the quality (品质) of them. This idea has already become popular among the young. ★ News such as “young people are not crazy about changing their mobile phones anymore”, “challenging 5-day within 27 yuan” and others have been on the front pages of newspapers.
Why are young people changing their ideas and spending less on buying? One of the reasons is that people have a different understanding of quality life. They come to realize that money and goods do not bring true happiness. They start to care more about personal growth, spirit and the building of social relationships. As a result, they begin to focus more on their inner needs, which helps to achieve a more meaningful life.
Young people are also caring more about the environment. Blind consumption may cause not only waste but also environmental pollution. So, they begin to play a part in protecting the environment through this new way of consumption. Instead of buying new things from traditional stores, many young people are turning to second-hand markets to find goods that can be reused or recycled.
Reverse consumption influences (影响) the market and sellers in turn. The companies have to improve the quality of their goods and offer better services as well. One thing is for sure-goods with higher quality and lower prices win.
65.Which of the following is Reverse Consumption?
A.Buying shoes more than you need. B.Buying bags you really need.

A.Being tired of shopping. B.Being afraid to try new things.

A.take environmental problems less seriously B.sell environment friendly goods
C.offer beautiful goods in poor quality D.put more ads on TV
69.What’s the writer’s attitude (态度) towards Reverse Consumption?
