With the development of science and technology, people’s lives have been changed greatly. For example,
biometrics (生物识别技术) makes our lives easier.
“I could tell it was him by the way he walked.” If you’ve ever said that, you understand biometrics. Biometric
technology is important in our work and personal lives. It includes the use of fingerprints(指纹 ) or knowing a
person’s voice. It is the technology about recognizing(识别) what a person looks like and how a person does things.
Like tree leaves, no two people are exactly the same. They have different eyes and different hair. And everyone
has a different way of walking or moving. This technology can tell the differences between you and others.
Biometric technology can be used in many areas. People use it to unlock a smart phone, get into their homes,
start their cars without a key or even pay for shopping. Compared with traditional passwords (密码), the technology
is more convenient because you don’t need to remember anything. If you travel through an airport, you need your
ID card or passport. If you go to the bank to get some money, you need a card and a special number. But what
should you do if you lose your passport or forget your number? Biometric technology can solve this problem.
That’s why it is becoming more and more popular with old people.
What’s more, biometric technology is considered to be safer than traditional passwords because some personal
information, such as fingerprints, is special and cannot be copied easily.
Nothing is perfect. People are worried about the safety of their personal information. However, the technology
will become much better in the future, and it will become more and more important in our daily life.
( ) 51.What is the biometric technology about?
A. Making ID cards and passports.
B. Helping people travel faster.
C. Recognizing what a person looks like and how a person does things.
( ) 52. The underlined sentence “Like tree leaves, no two people are exactly the same.” shows________” .
A. Not all people like tree leaves.
B. Tree leaves look different in different seasons.
C. People have different looks and walk or move differently.
( ) 53. Why does the technology become popular with old people?
A. Because they don’t need to lock the phone.
B. Because they don’t need to go to the airport.
C. Because they don’t need to remember the passwords.
( ) 54. The structure of the passage is ________.
A. B. C.
( ) 55. What’s the writer’s attitude(态度) about this technology?
