The Great Wall, which is also called the Wanli Changcheng, is actually the longest wall in the world.
It goes up and down from mountains to mountains like a huge dragon.
It is often called one of the Eight Wonders of the World. And it can also be seen from the moon.
The Great Wall is the ancient Chinese massive military defense project.
It has a long history of over 2,000 years. The first part of it was built during the Spring and Autumn Period.
From then on, it has often been rebuilt and repaired in many dynasties.
But without any modern machines, all the work had to be done by hand in ancient times.
Many people were forced to work there. They lifted earth in baskets, passed bricks from hand to hand and dragged big heavy stones with ropes over their shoulders.
And they also endured terrible weather and living conditions. Thousands of men died and were buried under the wall they built.
The Great Wall was made not only of stone and earth, but of the flesh and blood of millions of men.
Today the Great Wall is the most popular not only to the Chinese people, but also to the people from all over the world.
When people reach the top of the Great Wall, they will understand the famous Chinese saying," He who does not reach the Great Wall is not a true man."
