There are now different kinds of robots that can do tons of things: cleaning your home, teaching your children, and even playing tennis with you.
However, a new robot from Panasonic can’t do any of these things. The new robot, called NICOBO, can’t do so much at all.
NICOBO is a soft, “weak” robot. Its name comes from the Japanese word for “smile”. It is invented to accompany people who live alone or feel lonely.
So what can NICOBO do? Well, it can shake its tail if you pet (抚摸) it. It can turn around, nod up and down, and move its eyes to look at you. It speaks its own language and can also learn some simple Japanese and talk with its owner.
The robot, which is about the size of a bowling ball (保龄球), has a little child’s voice. The idea is that looking after a “weak” childlike robot will make people feel less lonely.
However, NICOBO isn’t cheap. The robot itself is $460. And there’s also a monthly cost of $8 for software updates (软件升级).
Will anyone buy it? Of course. 320 NICOBO robots made by Panasonic were all sold out online within a day. So I believe more and more people will buy it.
4.What do we know about NICOBO?
A.It is a soft robot. B.It can clean your home. C.It can learn some simple Chinese.
5.What does the underlined word “accompany” mean in Paragraph 3?
A.监控 B.陪伴 C.调查
6.How much should you pay if you buy a NICOBO and use it for one month?
A.$8. B.$460. C.$468.
7.Which of the following does the writer agree with?
A.NICOBO sold very well.
B.Few people will buy NICOBO
C.NICOBO can only be bought offline.

Would you be able to sleep with one eye open? Bottlenose dolphins (宽吻海豚) can. When they sleep, only half of their brain goes to sleep. They sleep with one eye open to stay safe. Half of their brain sleeps for about two hours before the other half of their brain gets a chance to sleep. Sometimes, the dolphins will keep swimming while they are sleeping.
Dolphins are not fish—they are mammals (哺乳动物). These mammals have lungs (肺). And they don’t have gills (腮) like fish. They are also warm-blooded and have to go to the surface of the water to get air into their lungs. Dolphins don’t lay eggs. Their young are born alive, and they drink milk from their mothers. Dolphins are one of the smartest animals in the world. There are many stories about how they save people out of water. They are able to solve many problems like humans. They can even use tools to catch fish. But their cleverness doesn’t end there.
Dolphins can also pass on anything they learn to other dolphins, like interesting fishing skills. They communicate with each other in many ways. They use different sounds to talk to each other. Dolphins know the “voices” of other dolphins and even know exactly who is making which sound. Another thing that shows their cleverness is that they can also know themselves in a mirror (镜子) and check different parts of their body in it.
8.Why do bottlenose dolphins sleep with one eye open?
A.To stay safe.
B.To sleep for two hours.
C.To swim faster.
9.What can we learn about dolphins from paragraph 2?
A.They use gills to get air.
B.They are warm-blooded.
C.They lay eggs like fish.
10.How do dolphins talk to each other?
A.By learning fishing skills.
B.By using different sounds.
C.By checking their bodies.
11.Which part of a magazine may the passage be taken from?
A.Art. B.Health. C.Nature.

No matter who you are and where you live, the most important thing is what kind of person you are. 12 Among them the following qualities (品质) are the most helpful ones.
Have a positive attitude (积极的态度). Life is not always a bed of roses. When you face difficulties, don’t lose heart. Do you know what can help you overcome difficulties? It’s your attitude. Cheer up! 13 When you smile in front of it, it will also smile at you.

Be creative. In the modern world, the students who have creative thinking are needed most. 15 Those who are creative have more choices in their life.
16 Honesty is the best policy (策略). Nobody likes a person who tells lies. The one who keeps his words is popular everywhere.
