Dear Aunt and Uncle,
I’m Xiao Ming’s friend. He felt very painful because you put too much pressure on him. My opinion is that it is not quite right for you to do so.
Though high grades are important in evaluating students and for their future university admission, development in other aspects should never be ignored. There are many examples around us. Some all-A students in school have turned out not to be as successful in society as they were expected. The reason is often that the pressure from their parents allows them almost no time for other activities.
So I suggest that you should take the pressure off him. More importantly, let him have more friends and social activities and let him make mistakes of his own as we teenagers often do.
Yours truly,
Li Hua

W: Boys and girls, may I have your attention, please? I have an announcement to make. A strong cold front is about to hit much of the USA. We are telling you about what to do during bad weather! Safety is our first concern, especially in winter. Recently, it is supposed to get very cold—about -12℃ tonight, and -18℃ tomorrow morning. What's worse, it will be even farther down to -25℃ by tomorrow evening. Please make sure you come to school with enough clothes to keep you warm, and you should also have a pair of boots you can change into. Highland Public School District officials will consider travel conditions before making a decision about whether to cancel school. If school is closed because of winter weather or another reason, an announcement will be made by 6:00 a.m. on that day by local radio stations and television stations. We may need to inform your parents by phone as well, so if your parents' phone numbers have changed, please tell the school. Let's make sure we all have a happy and safe winter! Thank you for your attention.

B
根据第二自然段“They responded as many as they could, writing notes, even buying gifts. But they could do only so much. Still, piles of letters remained to be answered.”
根据第三自然段“Guests, dressed in mod outfits, identified the hundreds of letters piled in the corner and enquired about them. Glaub shared with them the story, his guests are curious, offering to fulfill the letters. To spread the word, a website and a Facebook page were launched, after which, with Elf before donors’ names signed in the notes, many gifts were sent.”
根据第五段 Mark的信件内容“Dear Santa, For Christmas, I want my brothers to get better. My younger brother has trouble walking. Without a wheelchair, he couldn’t go around. I also wish my baby brother to eat like me without his feeding tube. I know these are not real presents, but this is all I want this year.”Mark 故选 A。
根据全文,Glaub和Parker为首的一群善良的人以圣诞老人的名义给人们回信以及送祝福的故事,以及文本最后一段 “It’s part of Christmas for me, and so is for the elves and families. It would not be Christmas without it.”

It can be faster to walk.

carried out 执行; cut out 切掉;put out生产,扑灭。
18
